After one season at Louisville, junior running back Tiyon Evans has opted to enter the 2023 NFL Draft, he announced via Twitter on Friday morning. "After putting my trust and faith in God over time for guidance and strength, I've made my decision and have decided to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft," he wrote in the graphic posted to his Twitter account. "I am excited for an opportunity to do something that has been a childhood dream of mine as I pursue a career in the NFL." Evans came to Louisville after spending a year at Tennessee and was a four-star junior college recruit in 2020.

In his debut with the Cardinals, the South Carolina native earned the starting running back role and totaled 89 yards on 13 carries with the team's lone touchdown in the season opener against Syracuse. He then scored Louisville's first TD in the second game of the season and was the leading rusher for a good portion of the season. Injuries, however, caused Evans to miss four games, which included the Governor's Cup regular-season finale. Still, he ended the year as the team's third-leading rusher with 525 yards and six touchdowns on 83 carries over eight games played. - Courier Journal

  11/26/22 - Tyler ShoughrSr/2025, Louisville, 6-5, 219 (DS#5 QB) + More +

Trey Wolff made a 35-yard field goal in overtime after a tying kick in the final seconds of regulation, and Texas Tech erased an 18-point deficit in a 51-48 win over Oklahoma on Saturday night. Dillon Gabriel threw for 449 yards and six touchdowns, but the OU quarterback was knocked out for a play in OT after a hard hit from safety Reggie Pearson Jr. on a catch on a throwback play. The Sooners were unsettled on offense and had to settle for a 34-yard field goal try from Zach Schmit after Gabriel was sacked. The kick was wide right. After Wolff's winner, Texas Tech fans stormed the field just as they did after an OT victory over Texas in September. The Red Raiders ended a 10-game losing streak against OU and beat the Sooners and Longhorns in the same season for the first time in coach Joey McGuire's first season.

Texas Tech (7-5, 5-4 Big 12) secured a winning conference record for the first time since 2009. The Sooners (6-6, 3-6) couldn't hold a 24-6 second-quarter lead, finishing without a winning record in the regular season for the first time since 1998 in a disappointing debut for coach Brent Venables. Texas Tech's Tyler Shough threw for a career-high 436 yards with two scores, but he was intercepted by C.J. Coldon to set up Schmit's tiebreaking 43-yard field goal with four minutes remaining. Shough put the Red Raiders in position for the tie in the final seconds. Wolff's first kick was blocked by Josh Ellison, but Venables had called a timeout. Wolff made the 43-yarder on the second try. Oklahoma's Marvin Mims Jr. had a career-high 162 yards receiving and two touchdowns, and Brayden Willis also had two TD grabs. Eric Gray rushed for 161 yards. Jerand Bradley also finished with a career best in receiving yards with 173 for Texas Tech, and he had a 44-yard tiebreaking TD catch in the fourth quarter, one of six lead changes in the second half or overtime. - Texas Tech/AP College Football

  11/19/22 - Tyler ShoughrSr/2025, Louisville, 6-5, 219 (DS#5 QB) + More +

Tyler Shough put together two long scoring drives and Texas Tech defeated Iowa State 14-10 on Saturday night. Shough gave the Red Raiders (6-5, 4-4 Big 12 Conference) the lead on a 4-yard touchdown pass to Baylor Cupp with 6:10 remaining in the game, capping a 13-play, 77-yard drive. Shough finished 15-of-21 passing for 141 yards. At one point, Iowa State (4-7, 1-7) had gained more than twice as many yards as Tech (338 to 151), but the Cyclones failed to reach the end zone, thanks to a pair of third-quarter goal-line stands by the Red Raiders defense. The Cyclones ran five plays from the 2-yard line or closer without scoring a touchdown.

They finally broke through when Hunter Dekkers found Easton Dean open down the sideline for a 24-yard touchdown. Dean leaped over a defender on his way to giving Iowa State a 10-7 lead with 11:18 left to play. Dekkers finished with 294 yards on 23-of-35 passing for the Cyclones. Xavier Hutchinson caught eight passes for 101 yards. Texas Tech drove 96 yards in 14 plays for the lone touchdown of the first half. Donovan Smith capped it with a 1-yard run, giving the Red Raiders a 7-0 lead. Drake Nettles kicked a 36-yard field goal to get Iowa State within 7-3 at halftime. Nettles missed an earlier attempt and had another blocked as time expired in the second quarter. - Texas Tech/AP College Football

Tyler Shough threw a touchdown pass and ran for a score and Texas Tech outlasted Kansas 43-28 on Saturday night. Shough rushed for a 9-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter to give Texas Tech (5-5, 3-4 Big 12 Conference) a 33-21 lead. It was the first score by either team in the second half. Tahj Brooks sealed the victory with a 5-yard touchdown run with 3:33 remaining in the game. Four different Red Raiders scored four rushing touchdowns in the win. Shough was 16-for-25 passing for 246 yards and a touchdown in his first start since the opening week of the season. Texas Tech totaled 506 yards of offense with 260 of them on the ground.

The Red Raiders used a brief two-quarterback system with Shough and Donovan Smith. SaRodorick Thompson Jr. rushed for 68 yards with a 36-yard touchdown for the Red Raiders.   11/05/22 - Tiyon EvansrJr/2023, Louisville, 5-10, 225 (DS#26 RB) + More +

Tiyon Evans ran for 126 yards on 10 carries, including a 71-yard touchdown, to help lead Louisville to a 34-10 victory over James Madison on Saturday night. The junior transfer from Tennessee spurred a ground game that amassed 244 yards for the Cardinals (6-3). His touchdown with 6:04 left in the third quarter extended Louisville's lead to 20-10 and came one play after the Dukes (5-3) were forced to punt.

Jawhar Jordan added 117 yards on 17 carries, and Malik Cunningham threw for 223 yards and three scores on 14-of-20 passing in the win. Unlike last week, when Louisville's defense forced Wake Forest into eight turnovers and eight sacks, the Cardinals did not get any of those against the Dukes. However, the Cardinals found a way to stymie an offense that entered Saturday averaging 38.7 points and 480.7 yards per game, limiting James Madison to just 193 yards. James Madison's Percy Agyei-Obese ran for 102 yards on 24 carries. His 9-yard touchdown with 1:43 left in the first half gave the Dukes a 10-7 lead. Cunningham, however, then rallied the Cardinals for a nine-play, 65-yard drive that led to a James Turner 28-yard field goal to end the half and tie the game. Quarterback Todd Centeio returned to action for James Madison after missing the Oct. 22 game against Marshall due to an oblique injury. But he threw for just 52 yards on 4-of-15 passing after throwing for 862 yards in his two previous starts. - Louisville/AP College Football

  10/29/22 - KeiTrel ClarkrJr/2023, Louisville, 5-10, 181 (DS#18 CB) + More +

Fueled by an opportunistic defense, Louisville used a 35-point third quarter to knock off No. 10 Wake Forest 48-21. The Cardinals (5-3, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) forced eight turnovers, all of which came in the second half. Louisville forced six turnovers in the third quarter as coach Scott Satterfield took his first win against a top 10 team. Louisville needed a rally after losing a 13-0 lead they held a minute into the second quarter. A defense that's improved in recent weeks provided that spark and then some.

Kei'Trel Clark's 46-yard interception return for a touchdown gave Louisville a 20-14 lead 47 seconds into the second half. The period ended with a 90-yard pick six by Quincy Riley to provide Louisville with a 34-point lead. According to ESPN, Wake Forest was the first team in at least 15 years to commit eight turnovers in a half. Quarterback Sam Hartman completed 20 of 35 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown while throwing three picks for the Demon Deacons (6-2, 2-2). He was benched to start the fourth quarter. Louisville's Tiyon Evans ran for 106 yards on 11 carries, including a 52-yard touchdown, in his first action since the Boston College game on Oct. 1. - Louisville/AP College Football

The Cardinals will be missing a key player when they take the field against Pitt. Louisville running back Tiyon Evans will not play Saturday night against the Panthers, according to a team spokesperson. The Tennessee transfer hasn't played since going down with a lower leg injury against Boston College on Oct. 1. Jawhar Jordan started in his place against Virginia and totaled 29 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. This time, Trevion Cooley will be RB1 for the Cards. The do-it-all player has totaled 200 yards rushing and 56 receiving yards with a total of three touchdowns on the season. Evans has only played in four of the Cardinals' six games, missing two with injuries. So far this season, he's totaled 263 yards and three scores on 53 carries. - Courier Journal
