Fueled by an opportunistic defense, Louisville used a 35-point third quarter to knock off No. 10 Wake Forest 48-21. The Cardinals (5-3, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) forced eight turnovers, all of which came in the second half. Louisville forced six turnovers in the third quarter as coach Scott Satterfield took his first win against a top 10 team. Louisville needed a rally after losing a 13-0 lead they held a minute into the second quarter. A defense that's improved in recent weeks provided that spark and then some.

Kei'Trel Clark's 46-yard interception return for a touchdown gave Louisville a 20-14 lead 47 seconds into the second half. The period ended with a 90-yard pick six by Quincy Riley to provide Louisville with a 34-point lead. According to ESPN, Wake Forest was the first team in at least 15 years to commit eight turnovers in a half. Quarterback Sam Hartman completed 20 of 35 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown while throwing three picks for the Demon Deacons (6-2, 2-2). He was benched to start the fourth quarter. Louisville's Tiyon Evans ran for 106 yards on 11 carries, including a 52-yard touchdown, in his first action since the Boston College game on Oct. 1. - Louisville/AP College Football

Despite missing the final four games of the 2021 season with an ACL injury, Kei'Trel Clark still ranked among the top cornerbacks in the ACC. He tied with former Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich and Pitt defensive back Erick Hallett to lead the conference in passes defended with 12, breaking up nine, with three interceptions. He's widely considered a future NFL draft pick and can prove it with another strong season. The Virginia native was also one of two Louisville players to make the All-ACC preseason team. There are no more injury concerns at this point, either. When asked if he feels 100%, Clark simply said, "Y'all gon' see." - Courier Journal

Two Louisville football players - guard Caleb Chandler and cornerback Kei'Trel Clark - have garnered high praise ahead of the upcoming season, appearing on the preseason All-ACC team. A redshirt senior and three-year starter, Chandler is picking up where he left off last year after being the Cardinals' first offensive lineman to earn All-ACC honors since 2019. He was one of the driving forces behind a Louisville offense that averaged 212.9 rushing yards per game, which ranked 22nd in the country. The conference nod was Chandler's third of the preseason accolade after being named to the Sporting News and Athlon Preseason All-American teams.

Clark, meanwhile is a two-time All-ACC performer who appeared in eight games before suffering a season-ending injury. The Richmond, Virginia, native registered 40 tackles and led the squad with three interceptions. He picked off a pair of passes in a 30-3 win over Eastern Kentucky and one against Florida State. As a sophomore in 2020, he closed the year with 36 tackles and was ranked second in the ACC and 12th nationally with 11 passes defensed. - Courier Journal

Kei'Trel Clark was a player who could have declared for the 2021 draft, but he decided to return to Louisville after a season-ending knee injury. Clark will come back as one of the best corner backs in the ACC and a good draft prospect next season. In two years at Louisville he has 76 tackles, four interceptions and 12 pass deflections. He was more physical as a tackler last year before his injury, which was a question of concern going into the NFL Draft. - Courier Journal

Louisville coach Scott Satterfield says that top cover corner Kei'Trel Clark will miss the remainder of this season after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday night's Atlantic Coast Conference loss at North Carolina State. Satterfield announced the sophomore cornerback's diagnosis during his weekly news conference on Monday. He said Clark underwent an MRI and will have surgery on the knee. Clark had emerged into one of the ACC's top cover players and led the conference with 12 passes defended, including three interceptions. He's the third Cardinals starter lost to a season-ending injury, following linebacker Monty Montgomery and receiver Braden Smith. Satterfield said Clark's injury "is a tough blow for us" and added that Louisville counted on him a lot. Louisville (4-4, 2-3) hosts third-place Clemson (5-3, 4-2) on Saturday night. - AP College Football

Not that Clark needed another reason to be motivated this season, but after being left off the All-ACC preseason team there will be an extra chip on his shoulder. Clark returns as one of the best corner backs in the ACC after leading the conference with 10 pass breakups, while also tallying one interception. He surprised many last year jumping onto the scene after transferring from Liberty and immediately locking down the No. 1 corner spot. At 5-foot-10 and 172 pounds, he's athletic and skilled enough to lockdown his side of the field, but also extremely competitive, which is a good trait for a corner back.

He might have brought down just one interception, but he dropped a few last year and what he does best is tighten the passing windows to receivers, as seen by his 10 pass breakups. I expect Clark will have an even better year this season under Bryan Brown. He could be a dominant corner that jumps into the Jim Thorpe Award conversation. If he is at his best, Louisville's defense is able to get more creative with blitzes when it knows its corners are doing their jobs consistently. - Courier Journal

One day after Louisville was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic Division in the ACC preseason poll, no Cardinal was picked on the preseason All-ACC team, either. The biggest snub from the Cardinals was corner back Kei'Trel Clark. The second-team all-ACC corner a year ago is one of the best returning players in the conference. He tallied 11 passes defended with one interceptions in his first year with Louisville, after transferring from Liberty. Instead, voters went with Clemson corner Andrew Booth Jr., and North Carolina's Tony Grimes. Clark begins this year tied as the ACC's returning leader in pass breakups with 10 a year ago and gave up just one touchdown. - Courier Journal

Louisville football got some good news after its Wednesday practice. Corner back Kei'Trel Clark has been ruled immediately eligible by the NCAA after transferring from Liberty this summer. Clark will have three years of eligibility left and will help the Cardinals' secondary right away. As a freshman at Liberty, Clark played in all 13 games, starting seven games, and finished with 38 tackles and six pass breakups. He ranked second in the secondary in tackles and pass breakups. He's already shown his athleticism during camp, and many have given rave reviews. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound Virginia native had a few interceptions early in fall camp. "He's a quick corner that loves competing and loves to be tight coverage," defensive coordinator Bryan Brown said. - Courier Journal

On July 10, Kei'Trel Clark announced his commitment to Louisville after transferring from Liberty. The biggest question surrounding Clark, a 5-foot-10 corner back, isn't his talent, it's when he'll be eligible to play. On paper, the sophomore with three years of eligibility looks like a strong secondary addition for the Cardinals. In his freshman year, Clark had 38 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack and six pass breakups. He started 13 games for Liberty. "We are excited to get him. We think he's a great player and a hard worker and is going to fit our culture great," Scott Satterfield said.

He transferred from Liberty because of a decision that he said was "Bigger than football," adding that the culture in multiple levels of leadership did not line up with his code of ethics. In this tweet, he said that the football program was a "blessing to my life." Now the question remains - will that be enough for the NCAA? Clark will have to sit out unless he files a waiver with the NCAA, and it is approved. Satterfield said he doesn't have an idea of which way the NCAA will rule. "I hope he gets it for his sake," Satterfield said. - Courier Journal

Former Liberty defensive back Kei'Trel Clark appears to have found a new home. Clark, who announced a few weeks ago alongside Liberty teammate Tayvion Land he would be transferring, cited he was transferring "due to the cultural incompetent within multiple levels of leadership, it does not line up with my code of ethics." Earlier this week, Land announced his transfer to Norfolk State. Clark is a rising sophomore who was a part of Coach Freezeā€™s first recruiting class at Liberty. He developed into a starter at corner as a true freshman in 2019, playing in all 13 games while recording 38 tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 sack, 6 PBUs, and 1 blocked kick. - ASeaofRed.com
