  02/27/20 - *Henry Ruggs IIIJr/2020, Alabama, 5-11, 188 (DS#3 WR) + More +

The stars came out at night inside Lucas Oil Stadium, especially Henry Ruggs III who came up short in his quest to set a record but still clocked the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine. A 4.27-second time in the 40 is nothing to scoff at, but Ruggs had hoped to run faster. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound speedster from Alabama fell short of the record 4.22-second time that Bengals wide receiver set during a blazing 2017 run. Ruggs said he had previously run the 40 in 4.25 seconds and felt he could top that in Indianapolis. He was initially clocked at 4.28 on his first of two runs but the official time was recorded at 4.27 seconds. His second time was 4.31. Ruggs did back up his other boast this week, when he said he was the fastest guy at the NFL scouting combine. - AP College Football

  02/26/20 - *Jerry JeudyJr/2020, Alabama, 6-1, 193 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Former Alabama star receiver Jerry Jeudy is apologizing to anyone he offended with his fashion statement at the NFL combine. Jeudy sported a gold Star of David pendant around his neck during his media session Tuesday at the annual gathering of top NFL prospects. Asked about its significance he explained it was in reference to the first syllable of his surname. "My last name's Jeudy. People sometimes call me 'Jew,' ... So, I just got a Jewish star," he explained. "I'm not Jewish, though." The Star of David, known in Hebrew as the Shield of David, is shaped like a hexagram and is a widely recognized symbol of modern Jewish identity and Judaism. Jeudy, the headliner of a deep wide receiver class, later tweeted an apology. "Don't mean no disrespect to the Jewish people! I'm sorry to the people who take my chain offensive!!" Jeudy wrote. - AP College Football

  02/25/20 - *Tua TagovailoaJr/2020, Alabama, 6-0, 217 (DS#2 QB) + More +

Tua Tagovailoa climbed up a couple stairs, then walked to the podium without a hitch Tuesday. It was a promising start to a critical week. Eventually, the former Alabama quarterback revealed what NFL scouts eagerly awaited: He should be cleared to resume all football activities March 9 and will hold his pro day workout April 9 - exactly two weeks before the NFL draft. "It's been a process," Tagovailoa said. "We went to the hospital for medical checks yesterday at 10 in the morning and I was the last person to leave. I got back about 7:49 last night, so right in time for the informal and formal (team) interviews."

It's been a grueling process ever since the man with the multi-million dollar arm injured his hip Nov. 15. Two days later, he had season-ending surgery. Tagovailoa spent the next three months working his way back, rehearsing answers to all those nagging questions he expected at the league's annual scouting combine. Here, in Indianapolis, the 6-foot, 217-pound college star is one of roughly 300 draft prospects getting poked and prodded, measured and tested this week. - AP College Football

The Southeastern Conference announced its annual football media days will take place July 13-16, returning to the College Football Hall of Fame and Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center, which also hosted the event in 2018. Florida head coach Dan Mullen and select players will be there on Monday, July 13. A more detailed daily schedule with full television information, rotational breakdown and student-athletes attending will be available prior to the event in early July. The SEC Network and ESPN will once again be on site to bring the four-day event to a national audience. Only seven times since 1992 has the SEC Media Days predicted champion proceeded to win the SEC Championship, which includes three of the last six seasons. - SEC Football

  01/06/20 - *Tua TagovailoaJr/2020, Alabama, 6-0, 217 (DS#2 QB) + More +

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is entering the NFL draft. Tagovailoa, who had surgery on his right hip in November, announced his decision Monday, ending two months of speculation regarding the star quarterback's plans as he tries to return from the serious injury. He was projected as a potential No. 1 overall pick before the injury Nov. 16 against Mississippi State. That made his draft status less clear. Alabama team surgeon Dr. Lyle Cain has said Tagovailoa's prognosis was "excellent" and predicted a full recovery. Tagovailoa, the 2018 Heisman Trophy runner-up, helped Alabama navigate the transition into one of the nation's top passing offenses. In less than two seasons as starter, he set an Alabama record with 87 career touchdown passes and ranks third with 7,442 passing yards.

He was regarded as one of the top Heisman candidates again before the season-ending injury. In his absence, Alabama lost to rival Auburn and failed to make the College Football Playoffs for the first time. Tagovailoa also had other injury issues during his career. He left the Southeastern Conference championship game as a sophomore with an ankle injury and missed the second half of the Tennessee game and the Arkansas game with a high ankle sprain. He returned to throw for 418 yards and four touchdowns in a loss to No. 1 LSU and was injured late in the first half of the next game. - AP College Football

  01/04/20 - *Jerry JeudyJr/2020, Alabama, 6-1, 193 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. are skipping their senior seasons to enter the NFL draft. They announced their decisions Thursday on Twitter and are projected as likely first-round picks. Jeudy, the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner, finished his Alabama career with a huge game in the Citrus Bowl. He had 77 catches for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Jeudy logged a six-catch, 204-yard effort against Michigan on New Year's Day, including an 85-yard touchdown.

He was part of a loaded receiving corps that includes DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III and Jaylen Waddle. One of the program's most prolific receivers, Jeudy led the Southeastern Conference with 14 touchdown catches in 2018 and was an Associated Press All-American. Wills was a second-team AP All-American who started the past two seasons at right tackle. Two other underclassmen, middle linebacker Dylan Moses and left tackle Alex Leatherwood, have both said they plan to return for their senior seasons. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, whose season ended with a serious hip injury, is expected to announce his decision on Monday. - AP College Football

A second Alabama player has declared for the NFL draft. This time, it's star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who made it official Saturday afternoon that he's going to leave the Crimson Tide and enter the NFL draft. The announcement from Jeudy came a few hours after right tackle Jedrick Wills became the first of Alabama's underclassmen to declare for the draft. Jeudy, who had six catches for a career-high 204 yards and a touchdown during the Tide's Citrus Bowl win over Michigan, leaves Alabama second in school history in career receiving touchdowns and fourth in career receiving yards. The former five-star recruit finished this season with 77 catches for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns. - AL.com
