  05/22/22 - Ricky PearsallrSr/2024, Florida, 6-1, 189 (DS#11 WR) + More +

Former Arizona State wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who entered the transfer portal this offseason, has announced his commitment to Florida on social media. The Gators landed the former three-star recruit over Auburn and Oregon, who each made his top three list this month. Before opting to transfer to Florida, Ricky Pearsall became Arizona State's leading receiver in 2021 with 48 catches for 580 yards and four touchdowns. Over 24 career games, he has 794 receiving yards with five touchdowns, adding 78 rushing yards and two touchdowns as well. Coming out of high school, Pearsall ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 1,208 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus. He also ranked as the No. 164 wide receiver and No. 21 player in his home state of Arizona. The On3 Transfer Portal Rankings have Pearsall listed as the No. 20 wide receiver this season and he had moved into the top five best players available by the time he committed. - On3.com

  05/19/22 - Jack Miller IIIrJr/2026, Florida, 6-3, 210 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Scoping SEC QB transfers: Eleven quarterbacks transferred to 10 SEC schools this offseason, with South Carolina's Spencer Rattler the lone guaranteed starter of the entire group. Here ares On3.com ratings. No 8 - Jack Miller, Florida (from Ohio State). Miller had a chance to unseat Anthony Richardson as Florida's potential starting quarterback this spring, but AR-15 ran away with the competition. Although Miller, a former blue-chip recruit in the 2020 class, struggled in the spring game, he stands to be Richardson's primary backup and considering Richardson's recent injury history, the Ohio State transfer could certainly see action at some point this fall. - On3.com

Poised for a 2022 standout season: Running back Montrell Johnson followed new Florida coach Billy Napier from Louisiana-Lafayette and was a bright spot during spring practice.   05/09/22 - Derek WingorSr/2025, Florida, 6-1, 221 (DS#93 ILB) + More +

Derek Wingo, the No. 5 outside linebacker and the No. 64 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting class in 247Sports' composite rankings, made strides throughout the spring after appearing in all 13 games in 2021, though Wingo is now playing inside rather than outside on the edge. "Derek has been awesome. I think he loves football and loves Florida," inside linebacker coach Jay Bateman said. "I feel like he's probably putting some pressure on himself, but I think he's doing it at a really high level right now. His situation is unique - I recruited him in high school, tried to - because it's a very different position than he played growing up. I think he's just starting to feel comfortable back there, but he's a stud of a kid."

Despite having already appeared in 22 games during his two seasons with the program, Wingo has recorded just 17 tackles, of which only five have been solo tackles. At inside linebacker, where he'll have to stop both the run and the pass, Wingo will be required to wrap up in the open field and in the backfield, so there's been an emphasis on improving as a tackler since Bateman arrived on campus. - Gainesville Sun

  04/28/22 - Clay MillenrSr/2026, Florida, 6-3, 184 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Colorado State quarterback Clay Millen dropped back to pass and unloaded a perfect spiral more than 50 yards down the sideline. Spring game touchdowns don't count for much. But it appears the deep ball, finally, is alive and well for the new-look Rams. Millen's long bomb to wide receiver Tory Horton was a breath of fresh air on a blustery Saturday afternoon at Canvas Stadium. "I knew I had a little bit of wind at my back," Millen said. "My mindset was literally to just try to underthrow it by like two yards and let the wind kind of push it a little bit. It happened to work out really well. I don't think I've played in as much wind as I had right there." Millen - a four-star recruit (via 247Sports) from Snoqualmie, Wash. - appeared in only two games as a true freshman last season at Nevada. He followed Jay Norvell to Fort Collins when he took the CSU head coaching job and Millen entered spring camp as the presumed QB1.

It's no surprise when you consider the roster Norvell inherited. Former starting quarterback Todd Centeio transferred to FCS James Madison and 2021 signee Evan Olaes is coming off a redshirt year. But Millen still needed to earn the trust of new teammates and coaches in establishing a leadership role with the Rams. "Clay is a really smart player. He's kind of your thinking man's quarterback," Norvell said. "He understands how to use the offense and he's just really starting to feel comfortable playing." Millen took another step forward in the spring game completing 22 of 33 passes for 292 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. - Denver Post

  04/25/22 - Montrell Johnson Jr.Sr/2025, Florida, 5-11, 212 (DS#27 RB) + More +

After a freshman season that many desire yet few experience, Montrell Johnson made the difficult decision to leave Louisiana - though he insists he didn't initially intend to follow his coach in 2021, Billy Napier, to the Florida football program. "I was still focusing on our bowl game and trying to win that. I was focused on ending the season right," Johnson recalled. "After the season, I didn't really think about it as much." With his first spring at Florida in the books, Johnson has set the record straight on his arrival in Gainesville with Napier: they weren't a package deal in any sense.

During his freshman season, he rushed for 838 yards along with 12 rushing touchdowns and was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, but Johnson already was focused on tougher competition. "I knew that I could play at a higher level," he said. "I knew that Florida could be one of those places I could be at." Not that his freshman season altered his thinking in any way. He may have had a three-star designation as a prospect by 247Sports coming out of De La Salle in New Orleans, but Johnson didn't think of himself as a middle-of-the-pack player. His perception of his ability didn't lead to a wave of offers from Southeastern Conference programs, however, with only Tennessee and Vanderbilt extending scholarship offers. Nearby LSU didn't think he had what it took to compete weekly against the nation's best collegiate talent. "It was a huge chip on my shoulder. I felt like I was very under-recruited in high school," Johnson said. "I wanted to come in and show what I can do." - Gainesville Sun

  04/24/22 - Ricky PearsallrSr/2024, Florida, 6-1, 189 (DS#11 WR) + More +

The Arizona State football team is two weeks removed from the completion of spring football and the program has been dealt some serious blows as two of its top players are headed to the transfer portal. The duo consists of sophomore linebacker Eric Gentry and junior wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. Sources close to the program say the moves are NIL-driven. Media covering Notre Dame have indicated that the Fighting Irish are pursuing Pearsall. The loss of Pearsall is crucial because it is perhaps ASU's weakest position. The Corona Del Sol product was the top performer in that unit with 48 catches for a team-high 530 yards. His 132 receiving yards against UCLA was the only 100-plus yard performance from an ASU receiver last season. - Arizona Republic

  04/21/22 - *Anthony RichardsonrSo/2023, Florida, 6-4, 244 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Starting quarterback Emory Jones finally decided to transfer, which opened the door for Anthony Richardson - if he can stay healthy. Richardson looked like a future Heisman winner early in the season when he came off the bench to make one spectacular play after another, mostly as a runner. He might have beaten out Jones if he had stayed healthy. Injuries proved to be his greatest problem, which makes you wonder how well he could hold up as a fulltime starter. Another possibility: Ohio State transfer Jack Miller, who's known for accuracy and a quick release. He earned praise from coaches and players for how quickly he adjusted to the team and offense in the spring. - Knoxville News Sentinel

  11/27/21 - *Anthony RichardsonrSo/2023, Florida, 6-4, 244 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Anthony Richardson came off the bench and led Florida to a 24-21 victory over rival Florida State on Saturday that made the Gators bowl eligible a week after firing coach Dan Mullen. Richardson replaced turnover-prone Emory Jones early in third quarter and played significant snaps for the first time in a month. The dynamic freshman completed 5 of 7 passes for 55 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown to Justin Shorter that gave the Gators (6-6) some breathing room in a tight game. Dameon Pierce took over from there, going untouched for a 2-yard score after running around and through the Seminoles (5-7). His touchdown came four plays after Pierce was penalized 15 yards for continuing to participate without a helmet; it was ripped off during an 8-yard run. Pierce finished with 62 yards on the ground.

The Seminoles scored to make it close in the final minutes, but they botched an onside kick. Florida then ran out the clock for their third straight victory in the series. This one included a pregame skirmish, countless exchanges and numerous mistakes - six turnovers and 21 penalties for 196 yards. Those were hardly surprising considering it was two mediocre teams vying for bowl eligibility and bragging rights. Florida State, which entered the game as a 2½-point underdog despite winning its previous two games, will miss the postseason for the third time in four years. The Seminoles trailed 24-7 in the fourth before Treshaun Ward got loose for a 19-yard score. It was one of FSU's few highlights that didn't involve Jordan Travis. The quarterback battled through a right shoulder injury that twice forced him out of the game. He ran for a 9-yard touchdown in the second and scampered for 34 more in the fourth to set up Ward's score. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 202 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. He ran 17 times for 102 yards and was sacked four times. - Florida/AP College Football

  11/08/21 - *Anthony RichardsonrSo/2023, Florida, 6-4, 244 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, recovering from a concussion, injured a knee dancing in the team hotel the night before losing at South Carolina. Coach Dan Mullen said Monday that Richardson was "gimping around" the football facility Monday. The Gators (4-5) host Samford (4-5) on Saturday. Richardson had been cleared to play against the Gamecocks, who rolled to a 40-17 victory in which the Gators allowed a season-high 459 yards and their most points in series history. But Richardson tweaked a knee busting a move and landed on the bench at South Carolina. "His MRI came back clean," Mullen said. "He's fine...He did treatment all day Saturday but was fine to go play, could have played Saturday but having not practiced, coming off a concussion, and with that he was going to emergency-only situation." Richardson was knocked out of a 34-7 loss to top-ranked Georgia in Jacksonville following a hit to the head/neck area. Emory Jones regained his starting job against the Gamecocks and completed 17 of 30 passes for 258 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. - AP College Football

  11/06/21 - Graham MertzrSr/2025, Florida, 6-3, 212 (DS#19 QB) + More +

Graham Mertz threw a season-high three touchdown passes and Wisconsin won its fifth straight game and become bowl eligible for the 20th straight year with a 52-3 victory over Rutgers on Saturday. Chez Mellusi, Braelon Allen and Jackson Acker each ran for a touchdown and cornerback Caesar Williams highlighted a dominant performance by the Badgers' top-ranked defense by returning an interception 29 yards for a TD. Mertz's touchdown passes covered 1-yard to John Chenal, 25 yards to Kendric Pryor and 72 yards to Danny Davis as the Badgers had their biggest point production since scoring 61 against Central Michigan early in 2019.

Coupled with No. 20 Minnesota's loss to Illinois, Wisconsin (6-3, 4-2 Big Ten) will have a share of first place in the conference's West Division after opening the season with a 1-3 start, its worst since 1990. Rutgers (4-5, 1-5) lost for the fifth time in six games in seeing its hopes for a first bowl bid since 2014 take another hit after a 3-0 start. The 52-points tied Ohio State for most allowed by the Scarlet Knights this season. Wisconsin never trailed in beating Rutgers for the fourth time in as many games. - Wisconsin/AP College Football
