Auburn is on the verge of losing two more of its top wide receivers to the NFL. Seth Williams confirmed that he’s entering the NFL draft, which was first reported by AL.com Monday morning. Eli Stove is also expected to turn pro instead of returning to the Tigers for a second senior season, according to a source. It means that the Tigers will have to replace their top three wide receivers from this season as Anthony Schwartz, who led the team with 54 catches this year, had already declared for the NFL draft. - AL.com

Wide receiver Anthony Schwartz and running back Mark-Anthony Richards will not be available for the Citrus Bowl. Beyond that, it's been "touch and go" as Auburn figures out who will be able to play Friday, Auburn defensive coordinator and interim coach Kevin Steele said. After Schwartz didn't participate in the first three bowl practices, he was expected to opt out. Safety Jamien Sherwood and nickleback Christian Tutt were also expected to opt out, although Steele implied Sherwood's decision was made because of an injury. Tutt was also recently injured. All three are upperclassmen and eligible for the NFL draft. - Birmingham News

  12/11/20 - Zakoby McClainSr/2022, Auburn, 6-0, 227 (DS#17 OLB) + More +

Either McClain or Pappoe have led Auburn in tackles in each of the last seven games, and each one posted three straight games with double-figure tackles, marking the first time since Deshaun Davis in 2018 that an Auburn defender has hit that threshold over a three-game span. McClain last week set a career high with 17 tackles during Auburn's 31-20 loss to Texas A&M, which marked the most in a single game by an Auburn player during the Malzahn era and the most by a Tigers defender since Demetruce McNeal had 18 against Mississippi State in 2012. "It's not a surprise," Pappoe said of McClain. "I think 'Koby is one of the most slept-on linebackers in the SEC. He does it all. Throughout fall camp, we had scrimmages, and he's flashing all the time and making plays. That kind of performance from him doesn't surprise me. I was really happy for him to play like that, on a big stage against a top-five team." - Birmingham News

  12/04/20 - *Colby WoodenJr/2023, Auburn, 6-4, 278 (DS#16 DE) + More +

Entering this season, Auburn needed someone along the defensive line to lighten the blow of losing defensive tackle Derrick Brown and defensive end Marlon Davidson to the NFL. It didn't take long for redshirt freshman Colby Wooden to stand up to that immense challenge. Wooden has been a revelation up front in his second year as a Tiger, as he's recorded 36 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss - which leaves him second in the SEC - three sacks and three quarterback hurries through eight games. Wooden's emergence has been crucial for Auburn, and his youth is the cherry on top given he's just getting started. For him, the 2020 season has been enjoyable but also a constant learning experience.

"It's meant a lot, the fact that I get to come in and help my teammates after not contributing last year. It just feels great to be a contributing member of the team this year," Wooden said. " [The biggest lesson is] just being physical and speed. You've got to be physical at the point of attack as well as coming off the ball fast. The faster you get off the ball, the easier your job will be. "You've also got to attack with a physical mindset that this guy's not going to beat me, this guy's not going to whoop me. Once you get that mindset, you'll be fine." Wooden arrived in Auburn with high expectations as a four-star recruit from Lawrenceville, Georgia, but his first season with the Tigers he was limited thanks to the Tigers' depth. He appeared in three games in 2019, which allowed him to redshirt while learning among the Auburn's more-experienced linemen. - Opelika-Auburn News
