  2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Tristan Wheeler, Richmond, LB, So.,...Wheeler earns his third CAA postseason honor in as many seasons. The 2019 CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year is now a two-time First Team All-Conference selection in the spring season and the fall. Wheeler led the entire CAA in tackles this year and ranked eighth in the nation with 114 tackles, averaging 10.4 tackles per game. He added six tackles for loss, one sack and two interceptions in the Spiders' final three games on the year. All Wheeler has done since stepping on campus is make plays as he has 256 tackles in 27 career games. He has started 24-straight games and has posted 228 tackles in his last two full season (2019, 2021). - Richmond Football

  2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Kobie Turner, Richmond, DL, Sr.,...Turner was named First Team All-CAA, marking the second-straight season he has earned First Team honors and his third-straight year being honored on the postseason teams. Turner ranked fifth on the team in total tackles with 54, including 10.5 tackles for loss. He recorded three sacks on the year from his interior defensive line position, recording nine quarterback hurries and forcing a fumble. Turner also recovered two fumbles this season, both resulting in touchdowns for the Spiders. He ranked fourth in the conference, averaging 9.2 tackles per game and finishing the year with 92 tackles, despite missing one game due to an injury. He recorded 11.0 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks while also forcing a fumble. He led the Spiders with three interceptions, returning one against Towson for a touchdown. He finishes his Spider career with 249 career tackles, including 196 in his last two full seasons (2019, 2021). He has played in 43 games in his career, making 25 starts. - Richmond Football

  2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Aaron Dykes, Richmond, KR, Jr.,...Dykes earns his second postseason All-CAA honor of his career and this year marks the first time he has been named First Team All-CAA as a kickoff returner. Dykes averaged 27.3 yards per kickoff this year, ranking second all-time in program history in a single season trailing only Justin Rogers' 30.4 yard average in 2004. Dykes returned his third career kickoff for a score against nationally ranked Villanova, posted a CAA-best 98-yard return in the game. He also puts up stats on offense, finishing the year with 11 total touchdowns – six rushing, four receiving and one kickoff return. - Richmond Football

His 9.5 sacks ranks seventh most in a single season in Spider history, including a program-record 4.5 sacks against Towson. Reynolds led the team with 13.0 tackles for loss and 13 quarterback hurries. He also added 28 tackles and forced one fumble.   Joe Mancuso threw for 188 yards and a touchdown and Richmond beat William & Mary 20-17 on Saturday. It's the first time since 1988, Richmond has the overall lead 64-63-5 in the 132-game series. Mancuso' 47-yard scoring pass to Jasiah Williams with 10:07 left made it 20-10. Darius Wilson threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Zach Burdick with 2:33 left to reduce the Tribe's deficit to three. William & Mary got the ball back after Richmond turned it over on downs but barely made it past midfield and time expired.

Richmond (6-5, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Association) ended the regular season with a four-game win streak, the second-longest active streak in the CAA, behind only James Madison's six-straight wins. Redshirt sophomore linebacker Tristan Wheeler finished with a game-high 14 tackles in the win. Wheeler finishes the season leading the team with 114 tackles, marking his second-straight full season with over 100 tackles and leading the CAA in the regular season in tackles.   Joe Mancusco threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Richmond to a 51-27 win over Delaware on Saturday. Mancusco was 13-of-21 passing for 179 yards and kept the ball 14 times for 116 yards. Mancuso opened the scoring with a 5-yard TD run and his 14-yard connection with Leroy Henley late in the second quarter put the Spiders (5-5, 3-4 Colonial Athletic Association) up 24-14 at halftime. He scored on a 2-yard run following an interception in the third quarter and on Delaware's next possession Kobie Turner returned a fumble 17 yards for a score to make it 37-21. Mancuso had a 20-yard scoring pass to Connor Deveney and a 13-yarder to Jasiah Williams in the fourth quarter. Zach Gwynn threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Hens (5-5, 3-4), but he was intercepted twice.   Kobie Turner recovered a fumble in the end zone and Tyler Dressler returned an interception 32 yards for a score as Richmond knocked off Towson, 28-17 on Saturday. Keegan Vaughn kicked a 24-yard field goal and Chris Ferguson threw 15 yards for a touchdown to give Towson a 10-0 lead after one quarter, but Savon Smith ran 24 yards for a second-quarter score and the Spiders (4-5, 2-4 Colonial) rode two defensive touchdowns to a 21-10 halftime lead. Darius Reynolds and Turner combined on a sack of Ferguson, forcing a fumble that Turner recovered for a 14-10 lead with 3:31 left in the first half and Dressler picked off a Ferguson pass and scored with :23 left to make it 21-10. Vincent Amendola found Caleb Smith from 37 yards out to pull Towson (4-5, 3-3) within a touchdown at 21-17, but Jerry Garcia Jr. put the game away for the Spiders with a 54-yard run for a score with 8:56 left. - AP College Football

  Joe Mancuso threw two scores and Aaron Dykes and Savon Smith each ran for a touchdown and Richmond squashed Lehigh 31-3 on Saturday. The Spiders scored four times in the second quarter. Mancuso sandwiched passing scores of 7 and 4 yards to Dykes and Leroy Henley respectively around 2-yard scoring runs by Smith and Dykes for a 28-3 lead at halftime. Mancuso threw for 131 yards, Smith ran for 74 yards and Dykes 71. The Spiders' defense limited Lehigh quarterbacks Cross Wilkinson and Alec Beesmer to 78 and 28 yards respectively and each threw an interception. Richmond (2-0) outgained Lehigh 390-264 in total yardage and limited the Mountain Hawks (0-2) to 3 for 11 on third-down conversions.
