  OCT 17 CAA FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Lopez, So., PK, Richmond (New Orleans, La./Metairie Park Country Day),...Lopez made the first two field goals of his collegiate career in the fourth quarter to lift No. 21 Richmond to a 20-10 win over No. 17 Villanova. Filling in for injured Jake Larson, Lopez made a 31-yard field goal with 6:04 to go that put the Spiders up by seven and added a 37-yard field goal with 1:12 remaining. Along with hitting both FG attempts, he was 2-for-2 on PAT's. - CAA Football

  Reece Udinski accounted for two touchdowns and the Richmond defense made them stand up as the Spiders defeated Villanova 20-10 on Saturday. Udinski scored on a 1-yard run and threw to Connor Deveney for a 6-yard score as Richmond took a 14-10 halftime lead. Andrew Lopez added two red zone field goals in the fourth quarter for the FCS No. 21 Spiders (4-2, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association). Richmond ground out 227 rushing yards on 52 carries and Udinski passed for 104 yards, completing 16 of 23 attempts. Aaron Dykes had 89 yards rushing on 23 carries. FCS No. 17 Villanova (3-3, 1-2) had drives of 62 yards for a touchdown and 77 yards for a field goal in the first half but managed only 75 yards in the second half, 51 yards of that total coming on a run by TD Ayo-Durojaiye.   SEPT 26 CAA FOOTBALL CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Reece Udinski, Gr., QB, Richmond (North Wales, Pa./North Penn),...In less than three quarters of action, Udinski completed 35-of-42 passes (83.3%) for a season-best 357 yards and a career-high five touchdowns as Richmond beat Stony Brook, 51-7. The five TD passes were the second-most in UR history, with four of them coming on consecutive first-half drives. Udinski leads FCS in completion percentage (78.6%) and has thrown for 300+ yards in back-to-back games. - CAA Football

  Reece Udinski threw a career-high five touchdown passes and Richmond opened its Colonial Athletic Association schedule with a 51-7 rout of Stony Brook on Saturday. Udinski was 35-of-42 passing for 357 yards with a pair of scoring throws to Leroy Henley and one each to Jasiah Williams, Savon Smith and Connor Deveney. Williams led Richmond (3-1, 1-0) with 10 catches for 112 yards. Udinski threw a screen pass to Smith, who then got a block from Joe More and ran along the right sideline for a 60-yard touchdown that stretched the Spiders' lead to 42-7 midway through the third quarter.   Reece Udinski was 35-of-42 passing for 351 yards and two touchdowns, Leroy Henley had his first career 100-yard receiving game, and Richmond beat Lehigh 30-6 on Saturday. Richmond (2-1) scored 20 unanswered points in the first half behind Udinski's 236 yards and two touchdowns. Lehigh was held to seven first downs in the first half and 69 total yards. Richmond used a halfback pass in the third quarter to go ahead 27-6 on a 23-yard connection between Savon Smith and tight end Connor Deveney. Henley caught eight passes for 110 yards, including a 13-yard score to open the scoring with 10:49 left in the first quarter. Lehigh (1-2) finished with 11 first downs and 203 yards.   2022 PRESEASON FCS PUNTER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST: Aaron Trusler, Richmond,...Another import from Melbourne, Australia, last season, Trusler averaged 40.2 yards per punt with four coming in at over 50 yards. In 57 attempts in 2021, the junior covered 2,289 yards and stuck 19 inside the opposing team's 20-yard line. His career-long came against James Madison last year when he recorded a 62-yarder. He finished his Keydet career with catches in 28-straight games. He ended his VMI career just eight receptions shy of the program record and only 85 yards from the top spot in the record books. Herres led the SoCon with 80 receptions for 978 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games.   2022 PRESEASON WALTER PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST: QB Reece Udinski, Richmond, Gr., 6-4, 220,...Udinski is a graduate transfer most recently from Maryland but spent the majority of his career at VMI. He brings a wealth of experience to the program, having played 39 games in his career, including 27 starts at VMI, and passing for almost 8,000 yards in his collegiate career. He spent the 2021 season as the backup quarterback at Maryland, appearing in four games for the Terrapins, including the Pinstripe Bowl victory over Virginia Tech.

Udinski was a star at VMI, playing in 35 games in his career and making 27-straight starts prior to an injury during the spring 2021 season. He finished his Keydet career first in program history and sixth all-time in Southern Conference history with 7,877 career passing yards. He was 783-of-1,268 passing in his career while throwing for 48 touchdowns and rushing for four scores. - Richmond Football

The 2019 CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year is now a two-time First Team All-Conference selection in the spring season and the fall. Wheeler led the entire CAA in tackles this year and ranked eighth in the nation with 114 tackles, averaging 10.4 tackles per game. He added six tackles for loss, one sack and two interceptions in the Spiders' final three games on the year. All Wheeler has done since stepping on campus is make plays as he has 256 tackles in 27 career games.   2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Tyler Dressler, Richmond, LB, Gr.,...Dressler earns his third-straight First Team All-CAA honor as one of the most dominant linebackers in the conference. He ranked fourth in the conference, averaging 9.2 tackles per game and finishing the year with 92 tackles, despite missing one game due to an injury. He recorded 11.0 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks while also forcing a fumble. He led the Spiders with three interceptions, returning one against Towson for a touchdown.   2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Aaron Dykes, Richmond, KR, Jr.,...Dykes earns his second postseason All-CAA honor of his career and this year marks the first time he has been named First Team All-CAA as a kickoff returner. Dykes averaged 27.3 yards per kickoff this year, ranking second all-time in program history in a single season trailing only Justin Rogers' 30.4 yard average in 2004. Dykes returned his third career kickoff for a score against nationally ranked Villanova, posted a CAA-best 98-yard return in the game.
