  11/28/20 - Larry Rountree IIISr/2021, Missouri, 5-11, 211 (DS#13 RB) + More +

Sarah Fuller made history, but her barrier-breaking kickoff was the only highlight for Vanderbilt as Missouri dominated the Commodores 41-0 on Saturday. Fuller became the first woman to participate in a Power 5 conference football game when she kicked off to start the second half. Fuller delivered a low kick that bounced to the 35-yard line, where Missouri pounced on it. She never got the chance to attempt a PAT or field goal, as the Tigers (4-3) rarely allowed the Commodores (0-8) to cross midfield in the Southeastern Conference game.

Larry Rountree rushed 21 times for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Connor Bazelak completed 30 of 37 passes for 318 yards. Running back Tyler Badie had seven catches for 102 yards and scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. True freshman quarterback Brady Cook got his first snaps of the year in mop-up time and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Damon Hazelton. Vanderbilt gained just 196 total yards against a stingy Missouri defense that has held three of its last four opponents to 10 points or less. Ken Seals completed 11 of 19 passes for 79 yards. Keyon Henry-Brooks rushed 15 times for 64 yards but lost a fumble in Missouri territory to end a rare promising drive for the Commodores to open the third quarter. - Missouri/AP College Football

  11/26/20 - Jalen CatalonrSr/2026, Missouri, 5-10, 205 (DS#8 SS) + More +

Coach Sam Pittman took issue on social media Monday when he felt an Arkansas fan seemed to suggest he wasn't taking up for safety Jalen Catalon, who was ejected on a controversial targeting penalty in the second half against LSU. The Tigers completed a touchdown drive eight plays after Catalon's ejection to take a 27-24 lead that would hold up. Someone who identified himself as an Arkansas fan had this to say in response to a media member's Twitter post quoting Pittman as saying Catalon would have to miss the first half and there was no way to overturn the ruling: "I get it Coach Pittman is a great guy but sometimes for the long term betterment for your program you got to stand up and call it/who for what it is!"

Pittman did not like what he felt was the implied meaning of the post, that he felt Pittman wasn't standing up for Catalon by not calling out the SEC. "Twitter gives guys like you opportunities to set behind a cell phone and tweet out random things that you have NO idea what you're talking about," Pittman replied. "I can take a lot of remarks but for you to say I don't take up for my players is as far from being correct as you possibly can be." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  11/24/20 - Larry Rountree IIISr/2021, Missouri, 5-11, 211 (DS#13 RB) + More +

Missouri running back Larry Rountree III struggled getting past the line of scrimmage through most of the first half, but his longest run made history. An 11-yard dash off the left side gave Rountree 19 yards for the night, just what he needed to pass former Tiger running back Zack Abron for second place on the school's career rushing list. Rountree began the season sixth on the list and made his surge with consecutive 100-yard games against Louisiana State and Kentucky. By halftime, his career total stood at 3,216 yards, second only to former Mizzou quarterback Brad Smith in team history. Smith, the Tigers' QB from 2002-05, has a safe lead for the all-time record with 4,289 career yards. Without two regular starters along the offensive line, the Tigers rarely controlled the line of scrimmage and only averaged only 2.9 yards per carry. Rountree finished with 58 yards on 21 attempts. - Post-Dispatch

  11/24/20 - Jack AbrahamrSr/2023, Missouri, 5-11, 205 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Southern Miss redshirt senior quarterback Jack Abraham has officially entered the transfer portal, a source with direct knowledge of the move confirmed to the Sun Herald on Friday. The decision to transfer wraps up Abraham's three seasons as the Golden Eagles' starting quarterback after informing the USM coaching staff on Nov. 12 that he planned to sit out the final five games of the 2020 season. Abraham will have one year of eligibility remaining after the NCAA decided in August to grant an extra year of eligibility to fall athletes.

Abraham battled through health issues for much of the last month. He didn't play in the 56-35 loss at Liberty on Oct. 24 after testing positive for COVID-19. He returned to make the start the next week against Rice, but suffered a concussion after taking a hard hit on a 15-yard run up the middle in the second quarter. Abraham didn't play again with third-string quarterback Trey Lowe III making starts in the 24-13 win over North Alabama on Nov. 7 and last week's 10-7 loss at Western Kentucky. - Sun Herald

NOV 23 SEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grant McKinniss, P, Missouri,...Punted seven times for 305 yards, averaging 43.6 yards per kick with a long of 51, pinning South Carolina inside its own 20 five times, twice at the 1-yard-line including SC's final drive as it attempted to tie the game with 2:37 remaining...South Carolina's average starting LoS was the 14.5-yard line and on drives that started following a Mizzou punt, the average LoS start was the 12...SC had just one punt-return yard as McKinniss' net average was 43.4 for the game...For perspective, that 43.4 net average would be ninth nationally spread out over this season...In a game that was decided largely on field position, McKinniss was one of the heroes of the game of Mizzou. - SEC Football

  11/21/20 - Jalen CatalonrSr/2026, Missouri, 5-10, 205 (DS#8 SS) + More +

Safety Jalen Catalon's reputation as a hard-striking defender is growing. It's an issue receivers who cross the middle of the field must be aware of when preparing for the Razorbacks. Catalon, who has 10 first-half tackles in each of the past two games, delivered a hit on Florida's Trent Whittemore in the first half that sent the 6-4, 208-pound freshman out of the game. The Athletic reported on Monday that Whittemore suffered a broken rib and a punctured lung in the game. In the second half, Justin Shorter dropped a pass over the middle after a huge shoulder-led shot by Catalon that popped the wideout's helmet off. Shorter acted strangely after the big hit, walking behind the Gators' line of scrimmage toward their sideline with no helmet and needing a minute to compose himself as the game was paused. Shorter returned a few plays later. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  11/21/20 - Jack AbrahamrSr/2023, Missouri, 5-11, 205 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Southern Miss redshirt senior quarterback Jack Abraham, who has battled a concussion and COVID-19 in the last month, has elected not to play for the remainder of the season, a source with direct knowledge of the decision told the Sun Herald. USM interim coach Tim Billings was optimistic earlier this week that Abraham would return to the field this Saturday at Western Kentucky, but Billings has been informed that Abraham will not be playing in the five games remaining in the regular season. Abraham remains with the team and hopes to help the other quarterbacks, the source said. A long list of USM players, including junior running back Don Ragsdale most recently, have chosen to opt out of the 2020 season and leave the program. Others who have chosen to sit out this season and transfer include redshirt senior defensive end Jacques Turner, redshirt junior running back Steven Anderson and redshirt junior receiver Jaylond Adams. - Biloxi Sun Herald

  11/06/20 - Jalen CatalonrSr/2026, Missouri, 5-10, 205 (DS#8 SS) + More +

Big hits from Catalon have occurred on nearly a weekly basis. Tone-setting type hits from the big-bodied safety against Georgia and Ole Miss certainly stand out. A jarring hit freed a would-be completion at Auburn, too. But he perhaps goes for the body blow too much for Pittman's liking. "He's going to have to slow down and wrap up a little bit every now and then," Pittman said. "He'll miss some tackles that certainly he wanted to make. But you don't want to take that physicality away from him because he'll also kind of knock you out. "We'd like to keep the knockout part and maybe wrap up a little bit more."

Pittman reiterated, though, that Catalon - third on the team with 46 tackles, including a team-high 30 solos - is the most important player in the back end of the Razorbacks' defense. He will play a vital role for Arkansas against Tennessee as it looks to win its second consecutive home game Saturday. The Razorbacks have not won back-to-back SEC home games since 2016. "He's aware of what teams are doing because he watches a tremendous amount of film," Pittman said. "So does the whole secondary back there, but very, very, very valuable to our football team as a young man and as a player. - Northwest Arkansas Times

On the verge of becoming the most prolific running back in Mizzou history, Larry Rountree III couldn't get untracked against the Gators. Coming off consecutive 100-yard rushing games, Rountree finished with just 36 yards on 14 carries. The senior co-captain came into the game needing 54 yards to match Zack Abron for No. 2 on MU's all-time list and the most among running backs in the program's history. Rountree was effective in the passing game, catching a team-high six passes for 26 yards. - Post-Dispatch

  10/28/20 - Jack AbrahamrSr/2023, Missouri, 5-11, 205 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Southern Miss quarterback Jack Abraham returned to practice Tuesday after being out with COVID-19. Abraham missed Southern Miss' game on Saturday at Liberty for an undisclosed reason at the time. "I felt really good," Abraham said in regard to his first day back. "A little chest pain here and there, but I think that's just kind of the way (COVID-19) is. I never really had terrible symptoms, just had a little headache, achy, just kind of felt like a common cold or flu. "So I don't think I really had it as bad as other people have, but I feel like my strength and conditioning is really not as far off as I thought it would be." Abraham expects to play on Saturday against Rice, but it will be under the third head coach in four games for Abraham. - Hattiesburg American

  10/27/20 - Maurice MasseyrSo/2024, Missouri, 6-3, 200 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Missouri wide receiver Maurice Massey has been dismissed from the team after being arrested, school officials said Monday. Massey, 20, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault, fourth-degree assault and first-degree property damage, according to the Boone County Sheriff Department. He was released after bonding out of jail. Massey had not played for the Tigers this year after he opted out of the season because of the coronavirus outbreak. "Maurice Massey has been dismissed from the Mizzou Football program for a violation of team rules," the university said. "Since electing to opt out of the 2020 football season due to COVID-19 last month, he has not been involved in any of our practices or team activities." A former three-star recruit from St. Louis, Massey played in four games for Missouri last year but did not record a catch. - Gainesville Sun
