  Bailey Fisher passed for 213 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 121 yards and two more TDs to help Tennessee Tech beat Jacksonville State 37-27 on Saturday. The win was Tennessee Tech's first against Jacksonville State since 2011. The Golden Eagles (6-4, 3-3 Ohio Valley Conference) achieved their first six-win season since 2011. Fisher completed 20 of 27 passes and ran 17 times. Darrius Stafford caught three passes for 76 yards, Brad Clark had his first career receiving touchdown on a 26-yarder in the third quarter and Metrius Fleming caught a 3-yard TD pass late in the second quarter. Haidar Zaidan made all three of his field goal attempts, including a 54-yarder to open the scoring. Zerrick Cooper passed for 312 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for the Gamecocks (6-5, 3-4). Josh Pearson caught eight passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Jamari Hester made the 23rd TD reception of his career, tying Joey Hamilton (1996-99) for second on Jacksonville State's all-time list. - AP College Football

  OCT 21 SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chance Walker, Newberry,...Walker, a junior from Gaston, S.C., led the Wolves to a 44-21 win over Catawba. He set program records for rushing yards with 261 and rushing touchdowns with six. He also set the Newberry single-game scoring record, and tied the SAC scoring record, accounting for 36 of the Wolves' points in the win. His six touchdowns also tied the SAC record for touchdowns in a game. He averaged 10 yards per carry, while also catching two passes for 20 yards. In all he finished the day with 281 all-purpose yards. This is Walker's first offensive player of the week honor. - South Atlantic Conference Football

  Bailey Fisher threw two touchdown passes and the Tennessee Tech defense shut down Murray State's offense in a 17-7 victory on Saturday. Murray State scored on its first possession, Preston Rice's 11-yard pass to LaMartez Brooks capping a 3-play, 45-yard drive after an interception for a 7-0 lead. But the Racers managed only 222 yards the remainder of the game. Tennessee Tech (5-4, 2/3 Ohio Valley) scored on a 23-yard field goal by Haidar Zaidan and trailed 7-3 after one quarter. The Golden Eagles added Fisher's two TD passes -- 20-yards to David Gist in the second quarter and 31 yards to Andrew Goldsmith in the third. Fisher completed 20 of 28 passes for 206 yards with the two touchdowns and an interception. Gist had 22 carries for 107 yards. Aderick Moore had seven solo tackles, nine total. Rice completed 23 of 34 for 196 yards. Murray State (4-6, 2-4) was held to 71 yards on the ground. - AP College Football

  OCT 14 BIG SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb linebacker Cade Hamilton (Forest City, N.C.) made a career-high 19 tackles (nine solo, 10 assisted) against Hampton, including 13 in the first half. Just before halftime, he prevented a touchdown with a tackle on a third-down scramble at the GWU 2-yard line as the clock ran out. Hamilton's six second half stops were part of GWU's effort in holding the Pirates to 17 rushing yards and just three points in the final 30 minutes. Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Week: Nick Salley (Charleston Southern), Bryson Armstrong (Kennesaw State) and Da'Quan Grimes (Monmouth). - Big South Football

  OCT 14 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: In his second career start, Gardner-Webb quarterback Kalen Whitlow (Montgomery, Ala.) passed for 352 yards and three touchdowns on 12-of-22 passing in Gardner-Webb's 35-27 Big South-opening win over Hampton. He had TD throws of 45, 70 and three yards, each giving the Runnin' Bulldogs the lead with the last accounting for the go-ahead score. Whitlow had a 29.3 yards per completion average, nine completions were for first downs and five went for 45 yards or longer.
