  2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM: Adrian Otero, Maine, LB, Sr.,...Otero, who appeared in 51 games with 38 starts at Maine, concluded his career with 256 tackles, three sacks, and three interceptions. In 2022, Otero led Maine with 72 tackles to go along with a pair of interceptions. A captain in 2022, Otero either led or ranked second on the team in total tackles in seven of Maine's 11 contests including a season-high 10 stops at Boston College.   Joe Fagnano threw two touchdown passes and Kahzir Brown returned an interception for a score to lead Maine to a 38-28 win over Monmouth on Saturday. Fagnano had a 9-yard TD pass to Shawn Bowman, a score set up by a fumble recovery, and Freddie Brock scored on a 33-yard run before the pick-6 to propel the Black Bears (2-4, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) to their sixth straight homecoming win. Tony Muskett's second touchdown pass, in the final minute of the first half pulled the Hawks (4-3, 2-2) within 21-14. But a three-play 80-yard drive to open the second half and a three-play, 14-yard drive produced two touchdowns a minute apart that had the Black Bears up 35-14. Elijah Barnwell scored on a 1-yard plunge a play after Fagnano and Kobay White had a 77-yard connection. Thomas Mai recovered a Monmouth fumble on the kickoff before Fagnano hit Montigo Moss for 14 yards. Fagnano was 14 of 23 for 181 yards with White catching six for 115. Muskett was 22 of 31 for 292 yards and three touchdowns. Assanti Kearney had six catches for 100 yards and Dymere Miller six for 95. - Maine/AP College Football

  Ryan Schuster scored the only touchdown and Lafayette stuffed Sacred Heart at the goal line on the final play to give John Troxell a 6-0 victory Saturday in his first game as the Leopards' coach. The Pioneers drove from their own 23 and had a first-and-goal from the 1 after Marquez McCray's 20-yard completion to Rob DiNota. But McCray threw two incompletions before Malik Grant was stopped on the final play in the season opener for both teams. Schuster was 8 of 17 for just 8 yards net passing and two interceptions but after Joe Gillette returned a punt 22 yards to the Sacred Heart 21, Schuster ran for an 18-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Sacred Heart outgained Lafayette 310-113 and had 10 more first downs. Sacred Heart, the two-time defending Northeast Conference champion, had won the past five meetings. - AP College Football

Miller tallied 39 receptions for 684 yards and three touchdowns in nine games this season. Miller ranked ninth in the CAA in receptions per game (3.90) and fourth in receiving yards per game (68.4) while averaging 17.5 yards per catch.   Joe Fagnano passed for two touchdowns, Maine picked off four passes and the Black Bears defeated New Hampshire 33-20 in a season finale Saturday. Fagnano passed 30 yards to Andre Miller following one of the interceptions to put the Black Bears (6-5, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Association) up 27-20 midway through the third quarter. Jonny Messina added his third and fourth field goals of the game for the final margin. Fagnano was 21 of 34 for 249 yards passing. Elijah Barnwell rushed for 94 yards on 20 carries. Tommy Herion threw for three touchdowns but was picked off on four consecutive possessions as the Wildcats (3-8, 2-6) lost their eighth straight game. Carlos Washington Jr. had 101 yards rushing and Dylan Laube added 100. Maine's four interceptions — two by Kahzir Brown — were the most for the Black Bears since picking off four against Weber State in 2018. This was the first win for Maine in Durham since 2001 in a rivalry that dates to 1903. - AP College Football

  Joe Fagnano threw a pair of scores, Elija Barnwell ran for two and Maine handed reeling UMass its second-straight loss to a FCS opponent, 35-10 on Saturday. After the Minutemen (1-9) lost to Rhode Island 35-22 last week, head coach Walt Bell and defensive coordinator Tommy Restivo were fired. They didn't fare any better under interim coach Alex Miller. UMass took a 10-0 in the first quarter with 147 yards of total offense. They gained just 150 more the rest of the way. Freddie Brock scored on an 18-yard run in the second quarter to complete an 86-yard drive and the Black Bears took the lead on Fagnano's 8-yard pass to Devin Young.

Fagnano found Shawn Brown for 14 yards in the third quarter and Barnwell scored on 2 and 23-yard runs in the fourth. Maine (5-5) had 366 yards of total offense. Fagnano threw for 209 yards, Barnwell rushed for 84 and Brock 74. It was the 60th meeting between the former conference rivals but only the third since UMass made the jump to FBS. This is the second time Maine beat the FBS Minutemen and fourth FBS win overall. UMass leads the series 42-18-1. - AP College Football
