  University of Cincinnati backup quarterback Ben Bryant announced Thursday he is transferring to Eastern Michigan. Bryant's announcement via Twitter came about a month after he entered the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer. Bryant, a redshirt sophomore, completed 11 of his 14 attempts for 90 yards and a touchdown and added 65 rushing yards on six attempts with a score this season. He had a 40-yard touchdown run in a win against Austin Peay on Sept. 19. - Cincinnati.com

  South Carolina quarterback Ryan Hilinski entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday afternoon, USC officials confirmed. The sophomore, who has four years of eligibility remaining after every player in the country was given a free season due to the pandemic, will move on after a 2020 season that barely saw him take the field. During the 2019 season, Ryan Hilinski completed 236 of 406 passes for 2,357 yards and 11 touchdowns.   Northwestern's defense sent coordinator Mike Hankwitz into retirement as a winner. Peyton Ramsey threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score, and the 15th-ranked Wildcats clamped down defensively to beat Auburn 35-19 in the Citrus Bowl on Friday. Ramsey, a graduate transfer, totaled 291 yards passing and 50 yards rushing for Northwestern (7-2), which won its fourth straight bowl game. Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Brown, John Raine and Riley Lees had touchdown catches for the Wildcats, who bounced back from an ugly loss to Ohio State on Dec. 19 in the Big Ten championship game. It was the final game for the 73-year-old Hankwitz, who is retiring after a 51-year coaching career that included 400 victories at nine schools. He was the defensive coordinator for Colorado's 1990 national championship team and spent the last 13 seasons as Northwestern's coordinator. - AP College Football

  A versatile, experienced offensive lineman has committed to join the Colorado State football team. Temple graduate transfer Vincent Picozzi tweeted Saturday night that he would transfer to the Rams, where he'll be used to help build the offensive line. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Picozzi will have one season left to play after making 34 career starts at Temple.   A consensus All-Big Ten First Team selection, the junior led the Big Ten in passes defended and reeled in his first career interception against Wisconsin. In his most impressive performance of the season, Newsome held Purdue's star receiver David Bell to under 100 yards for the first time in five games. Newsome is the first Wildcats player to declare for the NFL Draft after three years on campus since Darnell Autry in 1996. He is also only the second player in the Pat Fitzgerald era to leave for the draft with a year of eligibility remaining after current Indianapolis Colts linebacker Anthony Walker in 2017. Newsome suffered a groin injury in Saturday's Big Ten Championship Game that will prevent him from playing in the Citrus Bowl against Auburn on New Year's Day. - The Daily Northwestern
