With uncertainty entering the offseason about who would be staying at Western Kentucky or leaving after the 2020 season, some answers have already emerged. In the few days since WKU's season came to a close with a loss to Georgia State in the LendingTree Bowl, several Hilltoppers have made their intention known. Kyle Bailey became the latest Hilltopper to enter the transfer portal, doing so as a graduate transfer Tuesday. The 6-foot, 215-pound linebacker started and played in 11 of the team's 12 games this season, accumulating 76 total tackles, 8.5 for loss and three sacks. He had one interception and a pass breakup.   Two of the Eastern Kentucky University football team's top offensive performers — wide receivers Jackson Beerman and Keyion Dixon - won't return for the 2021 season. Both recently announced their decisions on social media. Beerman is set to leave the program as a grad transfer, while Dixon will forego a potential additional year of eligibility to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft. Dixon (37) and Beerman (27) were second and third, respectively, on the team in receptions in 2020. "This is what is best for me moving forward," Dixon said. "(I) will forever be an Eternal Colonel." Dixon played two seasons at EKU after transferring from Connecticut. The Glastonburry, Conn., native made a big impact, catching a total of 71 passes for more than 1,100 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2020, Dixon had a team-best 607 yards receiving and a team-best six TDs. The redshirt senior could have applied to the NCAA for an extra season of eligibility because of COVID-19. "After talking to my family, I've decided to...begin my journey to the next level in preparation for the 2021 NFL Draft," Dixon said. "Playing football is all I've ever known and wanted to do." - Richmond Register

Alonzo Booth ran for 178 yards and three touchdowns, caught another and Eastern Kentucky's four touchdowns in the fourth quarter sent it to a 49-17 win over Western Carolina on Saturday. Eastern Kentucky (3-6) scored three touchdowns in consecutive possessions with the longest drive lasting 46 seconds. Up 21-10, wide receiver Jackson Beerman threw a 63-yard score to fellow receiver Jacquez Jones with 14:40 left. Following an interception, Booth ran it in from 6-yards 90 seconds later, and after forcing the Catamounts to a three-and-out, Isaiah Velez threw a 66-yard score to Beerman with 11:23 to go. Before halftime, Ricky Palao scooped Velez's fumble on a sack to give the Catamounts a 10-7 advantage with 11:40 left before halftime. The lead lasted a mere 14 seconds as Davion Ross returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for the lead. Velez threw a 69-yard touchdown to Booth to extend the margin to 21-10 four minutes later.   Backup Dakota Allen threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Matt Wilcox Jr. with six seconds remaining and Eastern Kentucky rallied to beat Central Arkansas 31-28 on Saturday. Breylin Smith hit Tyler Hudson with a 50-yard pass to the EKU 2 then scored himself with 1:42 remaining to give Central Arkansas (3-4) its first lead of the game. Allen then led the Colonels (2-4) 77 yards on eight plays with the aid of two personal foul penalties and a fourth-down completion to keep the drive alive before finding Wilcox alone in the end zone. Allen came on after starter Parker McKinney was knocked out of the game after a hard hit seconds before the end of the first half. McKinney threw for 216 yards and two touchdown passes for a 17-7 halftime lead. Allen had a 7-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter before the Bears scored twice to take the lead. Jacquez Jones had 136 yards receiving for EKU. Smith was 30 of 45 for 320 yards passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Hudson had 106 yards receiving and Lujuan Winningham 103 yards, including a touchdown. The two teams meet again on Nov. 14 at Central Arkansas. - AP College/Eastern Kentucky Football

Parker McKinney threw for a career-high four touchdowns and Eastern Kentucky beat The Citadel 37-14 on Saturday to give Walt Wells his first victory as a head coach. McKinney was 16-of-26 passing for 274 yards. It's the first time an EKU player threw for four scores since Oct. 8, 2016. All three of Tennessee transfer Jacquez Jones' catches went for touchdowns, the longest a 53-yarder that gave EKU a 30-14 lead in the third quarter. McKinney and Jones combined for two touchdowns in the first quarter and Keyion Dixon made it 20-7 in the second quarter following a Bulldogs fumble when he made a juggling catch of a long pass for a 50-yard score.

Emeka Nwanze rushed for 114 yards for The Citadel. Brandon Rainey had a rushing and passing touchdown. With 89 yards rushing, he became the 16th player in program history to go over 2,000 yards on the ground. The game was a rare 2020 FCS matchup with only 17 schools in the division playing this fall. This was The Citadel's only home game in a four-game fall schedule allowed by the Southern Conference, which hopes to play a spring league slate. The Bulldogs (0-3) lost 49-0 at No. 1 Clemson last weekend. EKU (1-2) opted out of playing an Ohio Valley Conference schedule in the spring, choosing to play a nine-game fall schedule. - AP College Football

Only two true freshman made the Kentucky football team's initial depth chart for the 2020 season. One was quarterback Beau Allen, a clear No. 2 to Terry Wilson with Joey Gatewood's eligibility status still uncertain. The other? From a herd of talented defensive backs, veteran and new to the program alike, safety Vito Tisdale has emerged. He's listed as the backup to Davonte Robinson at nickelback heading into UK's game at Auburn this weekend. It wasn't exactly a surprise to see Tisdale's name on the depth chart, as he was lauded frequently throughout camp by coaches and peers, but it was confirmation that that praise wasn't just lip-service. Kentucky believes Tisdale can play right away in the Southeastern Conference, and he'll probably get a chance to prove himself as soon as Saturday.

Head coach Mark Stoops during one of his preseason radio shows likened him to a former Wildcats defensive back who wore the same jersey number: Mike Edwards, now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "He's wearing number 7 and I don't want to put that on him yet but he reminds me of the other guy that wore 7 for us," Stoops told Tom Leach. "That's a pretty big compliment. Mike is one of my all-time favorite players. So instinctual and such a good player for us. ... It's a lot like Mike. No nonsense and just goes and does his business." In that radio interview, Stoops said Tisdale was playing in multiple positions across the secondary, giving it a go wherever the coaches asked. On Monday, during his first "in-season" news conference, Stoops suggested that the staff might have put too much on Tisdale in camp and that he looked forward to having him hone in on a single position in practice this week. - Herald Leader

LSU defensive end TK McLendon has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-3, 269-pound junior was once thought to contend for a starting position, and McLendon's brief career in Baton Rouge could come to an end. The news was first reported by AL.com. McLendon transferred to LSU from Copiah-Lincoln Community College as a tight end before the 2019 season, and he moved to the defensive side after catching one pass for 12 yards last year. LSU entered the 2020 offseason with considerable depth at tight end, and McLendon was thought to make an immediate impact on the defensive line. - Baton Rouge Advocate
