  NOV 3 IVY LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ben Sahakian, Cornell,...Cornell senior linebacker Ben Sahakian has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. The senior recorded two forced fumbles in Cornell's comeback win over Princeton last Saturday, one of which set up the Big Red's game-winning touchdown drive. He finished the game with five tackles, two of which went for a loss of yards, and one sack. Sahakian became the first Cornell player to force two fumbles in the same game since Michael Turner '15 had a pair against Brown on Oct. 26, 2013. Sahakian is the third consecutive Big Red player to earn weekly honors, joining Keith Williams Jr. (Defensive), and Ryan Matulevich (Rookie). On the season, the Mount Prospect, Ill., native has 22 tackles, including four tackles for a loss, and one sack. - Ivy League Football

  OCT 27 IVY LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Ryan Matulevich, Cornell,...Cornell football freshman wide-out Ryan Matulevich has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week following his performance against Brown on Saturday, Oct. 25, the league office announced on Monday. Matulevich made his collegiate debut against the Bears and led the Big Red with six catches for 100 yards, setting a Cornell freshman record for yards in a game, breaking the previous mark of 97 set by Eric Gallman II at Yale in 2017. Matulevich is the first Big Red player to reach 100 receiving yards in his first collegiate start since Davon Kiser posted 145 yards on five catches at Lehigh in the 2023 opener as a sophomore. - Ivy League Football

  Gannon Carothers scored two rushing touchdowns, Garrett Bass-Sulpizio and Jordan Triplett each added another, and Cornell defeated Penn 39-17. Bass-Sulpizio also threw for 265 yards and a touchdown on 24-of-31 passing in a fourth straight victory for the Big Red (4-4, 3-2 Ivy). A 26-point second half turned a 3-point game at halftime into a rout. Cornell scored on five straight drives, including four third-quarter touchdowns, and ran the clock out after getting possession with 6:11 remaining.

Triplett led with 85 rushing yards on 17 carries, and Carothers added 36 yards on five attempts. Brendan Lee caught six passes for 41 yards and a score, and TJ Hamilton led all receivers with five catches for 123 yards. For the Quakers (5-3, 3-2), Donte West racked up 125 rushing yards and a score on 15 carries, and Liam O'Brien added 63 yards and a score while completing 15 of his 22 passes for 112 yards. Penn has the edge in the historical series at 78-48-5 since 1893. Cornell snapped a three-game losing streak against Penn, and won for just the second time in the past decade. - AP College Football

  Garrett Bass-Sulpizio accounted for three touchdowns and six different players combined to power the Cornell offense to 215 yards rushing in a 20-17 win over Princeton on Saturday afternoon. Princeton (3-4, 2-2 Ivy League) jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead after a 27-yard pass from Kai Colón to Josh Robinson and a 4-yard rush from Ethan Clark. Clark led all rushers with 89 yards.

Colón was 16-of-32 passing for 219 yards, with 97 of those going to Roman Laurio. Bass-Sulpizio scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown to start the second quarter, then threw a touchdown pass each to Doryn Smith and Ryder Kurtz in the second half. Bass-Sulpizio was 15 of 25 for 117 yards with an interception and had another 47 yards rushing. Jordan Triplett led the Big Red (3-4, 2-2) offense with 72 yards rushing.   Jordan Triplett had three rushing touchdowns, including the game-winner in double overtime, and Cornell beat Brown 30-24 for its first Ivy League win of the season. Cornell (2-4, 1-2 Ivy League) tied the game at 17 with 46 seconds left in regulation with a 25-yard field goal. Brown (3-3, 0-3) scored first in overtime off a 25-yard pass to Ty Pezza. Triplett responded with his second touchdown of the game to tie it at 24. Cornell started with the ball in double OT, setting up Triplett for a short 1-yard rush for the 30-24 lead. Triplett had 64 yards on 17 carries. Cornell quarterback Garrett Bass-Sulpizio completed 28 passes for 346 yards. Brown Quarterback James Murphy threw two touchdowns and had 468 yards. Pezza had 172 yards on nine catches, and Solomon Miller recorded seven receptions for 166 yards. Qwenton Brown also recorded a rushing touchdown. - AP College Football

  OCT 20 IVY LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Keith Williams Jr., Cornell,...Williams Jr. recorded nine tackles (5 solo, 4 asst) and two interceptions, including a game-sealing pick with less than two-minutes remaining, in Cornell's 30-20 win over Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 18. He becomes just the second Cornell linebacker with two picks in a game in the past quarter-century (Holt Fletcher '24 at Lehigh on Sept. 16, 2023). He is the programs first Defensive Player of the Week since former teammate Luke Banbury '25 earned the honor last November.   Garrett Bass-Sulpizio accounted for three touchdowns and Cornell rushed for 232 yards to secure its first win of the season, 30-20 over Bucknell on Saturday. Bass-Sulpizio was 14 of 22 for 164 yards, with 36 on the ground. The Big Red (1-4) were led by Jordan Triplett, who tallied 107 yards on 22 attempts on the ground. John McAuliffe added another 89 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Despite taking a 7-3 lead from a Logan Bush rushing touchdown with 11:30 left in the second quarter, the Bison (4-4) were shut out until 5:28 in the fourth. In that span, Bass-Sulpizio scored on 8-yard and 12-yard rushing touchdowns, and connected with Ryder Kurtz on a 30-yard touchdown to take a 30-7 lead with 9:15 remaining in the fourth. Chris Dietrich was 19-of-32 passing for 220 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Bucknell.   Jameson Wang threw two touchdown passes to Matt Robbert, ran for another, and Cornell edged Brown 24-21 on Saturday after the Big Red came up with a fumble recovery in the final minute. Brown (2-4, 0-3 Ivy League) reached the Cornell 1-yard line with 42 seconds left. But the Bears were dropped for a 3-yard loss then retreated to the 9 after a penalty. Max Lundeen stripped the ball from Jake Willcox and Brendan Chestnut recovered for Cornell (4-2, 1-2). Cornell is off to its best start through six games since 2007.

Wang ran 3 yards for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and the Big Red led the rest of the way. His 11-yard pass to Robbert in the final minute of the first half was good for a 17-7 lead. Wang's 55-yard scoring toss to Robbert gave Cornell a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter.   Connor Henderson's 31-yard interception return for a touchdown helped lift Cornell to a 19-15 victory over Lehigh Saturday, earning the Big Red a 3-0 non-conference record in a season for the first time since 2007 and fifth time in program history. Cornell stopped the Mountain Hawks on six of their seven trips to the red zone and came up with a big stop on fourth down in the final minute of the game on pass break-ups by Brody Kidwell and Anthony Chideme-Alfaro.

Dylan Van Dusen kicked three first-half field goals, the longest from 26-yards out, and Gaige Garcia scored on a 13-yard run just before intermission to stake Lehigh to a 15-10 lead after a half, but Cornell (3-2) took the lead when Henderson picked off a Dante Perri pass and returned it for the touchdown to take a 16-15 lead. Jackson Kennedy kicked a 41-yard fourth-quarter field goal to set the final margin. Garcia finished with 162 yards on 25 carries to lead Lehigh (1-6) and Perri threw for 184 yards, completing 19 of 35 attempts. Kennedy also made a 43-yarder for a 24-22 lead with 4:13 left in the third quarter. Cornell tied it at 31 with 12:52 left in the fourth when Wang capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown run. Wang was 18-of-27 passing for 284 yards with one interception for Cornell (2-1), which is guaranteed a winning non-conference slate for the first time since 2016. Thomas Glover made seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown. Michael Brescia completed 19 of 40 for 195 yards with an interception for Colgate (1-4).
