Former Georgia Southern quarterback Shai Werts decided at the end of his fourth year of starting in Statesboro that it was time for change. Werts knew that if he was to have a better chance at a job in the NFL, he needed to switch positions. The Louisvil le Cardinals sat at the ready to pluck him from the transfer portal, led by wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer, who had been waiting to coach Werts since 2016, when Brewer was in the same position at North Carolina. "I had the pleasure of recruiting him at North Carolina, along with a lot of other Power Five and ACC schools that wanted him to play receiver at that time," Brewer said. "He wanted to live the dream playing quarterback, and I don't blame him, went to a place that really fit him well." | | |
