  2022 ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: TE Ryan Miller, 5th, Furman,...Miller, a two-time All-America selection, earned his third first-team all-conference scroll following a record breaking regular season that saw him haul in 61 pases for 652 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 221-pound fifth-year performer from Jackson, Tenn., caught a pair of touchdowns in the Paladins' 63-28 win over Wofford on Saturday to set a new program career record for touchdown catches (27). He ranks fifth all-time at Furman in receptions (140) and sixth in receiving yards (2,036). - Furman Football

  Backup Jace Wilson had two second-half touchdowns, one passing and one running, and Furman held off Charleston Southern 24-19 on Saturday. Wilson connected with tight end Ryan Miller on a play-action pass for a 44-yard touchdown with 59 seconds left in the third quarter to pull Furman within 19-17. On the Paladins' first possession of the fourth quarter, Wilson capped a 12-play, 49-yard drive with a 22-yard touchdown run. Dominic Morris sealed it for Furman with an interception in the end zone with 2:44 left.

Wilson was 7-of-15 passing for 109 yards with an interception and he carried it six times for 48 yards and two scores for Furman (3-1), which was coming off a victory over defending Southern Conference champion East Tennessee State. Starter Tyler Huff was 6-of-12 passing in the first half for 53 yards and an interception. Isaiah Bess and Ross Malmgren combined to complete 18 of 36 passes with one touchdown and two interceptions for Charleston Southern (0-4). The teams combined for just 13 first downs in the first half, 270 total yards and five turnovers. Furman led 10-9 after Wilson's 5-yard scoring run, capping a 93-yard drive, with 27 seconds left before halftime. His 16 career touchdown receptions is a record for Furman tight ends. Miller is bidding to become the second Paladin to win the Walter Payton Award. In 2000 All-America running back Louis Ivory took home the prestigious trophy after rushing for a FCS (then NCAA I-AA) season leading 2,079 yards at 16 touchdowns, including a Furman record 301 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-10 win over Georgia Southern. - Furman Football

  Freshman Jace Wilson threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Miller and ran for a score and Dominic Roberto rushed for a career-high 216 yards as Furman held off Samford 41-34 on Saturday. Trailing 7-0, Wilson and Miller connected on a two-play drive to knot the score. DiMarcus Clay picked off Liam Welch on Samford's ensuing possession and returned it 32 yards to the Bulldogs' 2-yard line. Wilson ran it in from the 3 on third-and-goal for a 14-7 lead. The Paladins (6-5, 4-4 Southern Conference) never trailed again. Devin Wynn had two short TD runs for Furman (6-5, 4-4 Southern Conference), while Wayne Anderson Jr. had one.   Ryan Miller scored the tying touchdown with 2:53 left in the fourth quarter, and Furman rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Samford 44-37 in overtime on Saturday. Hamp Sisson rolled right and threw it back across the field to Miller who split the defense with a burst up the left hash marks, going 73 yards for the score. Miller finished with three catches for 96 yards and two TDs for the Paladins (2-1, 2-1 Southern Conference), ranked No. 17 in the FCS Top 25. Furman trailed 37-23 in the middle of the fourth quarter. Sisson rolled right and connected with Ryan DeLuca in the near corner of the end zone for a 31-yard TD pass with 6:12 left. Furman went on offense first in overtime and Devin Wynn gave the Paladins the lead with a 9-yard TD run.   MARCH 8 SOCON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Miller, Furman, Jr., TE, Jackson, Tenn.,...Furman tight end Ryan Miller played a huge role in Furman's 44-37, overtime win over Samford on Saturday. The junior from Jackson, Tennessee, had three catches for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Paladins rallied from a 17-point deficit to win. Miller had a 10-yard scoring catch just before halftime to get Furman within a touchdown at 24-17 and added a 73-yard catch and run for a score to knot the game at 37 with 2:59 left in regulation. Furman's comeback was the largest comeback win in Paladin Stadium history. Other nominees: Ty Kind (Samford), Juwan Tyus (Chattanooga), Reece Udinski (VMI) and Donnavan Spencer (Western Carolina). - Southern Conference Football
