Wisconsin offensive line coach Bob Bostad has lost one of the more versatile members of his unit. A UW official confirmed that Cormac Sampson, who has played center, guard and tight end, has left the program to focus on his master's degree in educational administration. Sampson, who would have been a fifth-year senior this season, has degrees in political science and philosophy. The graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School worked at center on the No. 1 line in the spring with projected starter Joe Ti ppmann recovering from an unspecified injury. Sampson likely would have opened preseason camp as a reserve center or guard. He filled in at center for Tippmann in the Las Vegas Bowl and started six games and played in 33 for UW. - Journal Sentinel

The University of Wisconsin football team has lost a versatile offensive lineman. Cormac Sampson, a senior from Eau Claire, has left the program. The State Journal confirmed the news after 247Sports first reported it Tuesday. A UW official said Sampson's decision was made after spring practices. The official said Sampson will be attending graduate school at UW. Sampson was expected to be a second-team guard/center this fall after taking nearly all of the second-team center reps during spring practices. He played in 32 games, including six starts.The Eau Claire Memorial product was moved all around the offense during his career. He started as a tight end, the position he was an All-State selection in high school, but moved to the offensive line a fter a redshirt season. He moved back to tight end after injuries depleted the position in 2019, then back to the offensive line the past two seasons. He played center, guard, tackle and tight end in his career, including starting at center in the Las Ve gas Bowl win in December. - Wisconsin State Journal
