  12/29/20 - *Bijan RobinsonJr/2023, Texas, 5-11, 215 (DS#1 RB) + More +

Casey Thompson passed for 170 yards and four touchdowns and No. 20 Texas overcame an injury to senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger and beat Colorado 55-23 in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Tuesday night. Freshman running back Bijan Robinson had 183 yards on 10 carries with a TD for Texas (7-3). The Longhorns are undefeated in five bowl games under Tom Herman. Ehlinger missed the second half after sustaining a shoulder injury in second quarter.

He returned to the field in the third quarter in warmups, with his right arm in a sling. There was no immediate word on the extent of Ehlinger's injury. Ehlinger played the entire first half, completing 10 of 16 passes for 160 yards and a score. Colorado was playing its sixth game of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Pac-12 initially canceled its season only to reverse the decision and delay the start until Nov. 7. The Buffaloes (4-2) had two games canceled due to virus issues, but competed in the Alamo Bowl despite failing to reach the traditional six win threshold required for the postseason due to this season's unusual circumstances. - AP College Football

  12/29/20 - Sam EhlingerSr/2021, Texas, 6-1, 220 (DS#9 QB) + More +

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger has yet to say if he'll enter the NFL draft or return for the additional year that the NCAA has approved. The senior ranks second on most of UT's significant career passing records, but won't catch Colt McCoy's marks for passing yards (he's 1,978 short) or touchdowns (he needs 20). And he's six touchdowns away from McCoy's total touchdowns record of 132. Ehlinger has accounted for six scores twice this season against Texas Tech and Oklahoma. - Austin American Statesman

  12/27/20 - Sam EhlingerSr/2021, Texas, 6-1, 220 (DS#9 QB) + More +

With the NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility to all players this year, Texas senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger could return next season. Although not regarded as one of the top quarterback recruits in the 2021 NFL Draft, he is a pro prospect who is likely to get a good shot at the next level. This week, Ehlinger said, "I haven't come to a conclusion yet. I'm trying to enjoy these last few weeks, but I haven't closed one door on anything yet. No senior has really been in this position to where they've been granted an extra year of eligibility. Both options are incredible options." Ehlinger, who is 26-16 as a starter, is one of only two Power 5 quarterbacks in history to pass for over 11,000 yards in a career and add 1,500 rushing - joining former Texas star Colt McCoy. Ehlinger has thrown for 11,276 yards and 93touchdowns and added 1,912 yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground. - Daily Camera

  12/24/20 - DeMarvion OvershownrSr/2023, Texas, 6-3, 229 (DS#10 OLB) + More +

One of the top defenders for the Texas Longhorns will be back in 2021. On Tuesday, junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown announced that he'll return for his senior season. The decision by the 6'4, 217-pounder makes Overshown the most high-profile player to announce his return for another season on the Forty Acres as five captains have opted out to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft. Ranked as the No. 52 player nationally and the No. 6 safety in the 2018 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Overshown always faced questions about his eventual position thanks to his large frame that made him something of a tweener. - Burnt Orange Nation

  12/24/20 - *Brennan EaglesJr/2021, Texas, 6-4, 225 (DS#43 WR) + More +

Texas' mass exodus continued Tuesday when junior receiver Brennan Eagles announced he would skip the upcoming bowl game and enter the NFL draft. For three seasons, Eagles has been a good secondary target but never the Longhorns' most consistent threat. He caught 61 passes in three seasons for 1,026 yards and scored 11 touchdowns, most of them coming on go routes when he ran straight ahead. Five team captains have opted out of the Alamo Bowl to focus on the NFL draft, including junior left tackle Samuel Cosmi and junior defensive end Joseph Ossai. Freshman quarterback Ja'Quinden Jackson has also transferred to Utah. Also, several players have announced they intend on coming back, including some seniors who will take advantage of the NCAA's COVID-19 waiver. Junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown was the latest to announce he was staying on Tuesday. - Austin American Statesman

Will Denton Ryan's Ja'Tavion Sanders, a five-star athlete who signed with Texas, end up playing wide receiver or defensive end? Or, as Longhorns coach Tom Herman hinted at last week, will he play both offense and defense? Texas signed 18 high school prospects last week and also added graduate transfer cornerback Darion Dunn from McNeese State. - Austin American Statesman
