  Damonta Witherspoon ran for 135 yards and a touchdown and Cortezz Jones' 26-yard TD run in the third quarter was the only scoring after halftime as Murray State pulled out a 20-13 victory over Eastern Illinois on Saturday. Stone Galloway's second field goal of the game came with 7 seconds left before the half and pulled Eastern Illinois even at 13. Jones' game-winning TD run capped a seven-play, 76-yard drive and came on the first possession of the third quarter for the Racers (6-5, 3-3 Ohio Valley Conference). Witherspoon's TD was a 15-yard run with 1:47 left in the second quarter. DJ Williams passed for 59 yards and ran for 83 more for Murray State. Jones finished with 71 yards on 11 carries. Chris Katrenick passed for 216 yards for the Panthers (1-10, 1-5). Isaiah Hill caught 13 passes for 110 yards.   DJ Williams ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns, Damonta Witherspoon rushed for 113 yards and a score and threw a TD pass and Murray State breezed to a 28-10 victory over Southeast Missouri State in Ohio Valley Conference play on Saturday. Witherspoon connected with Jake Saathoff on a 25-yard halfback pass on the first possession for Murray State (5-5, 2-3) for a 7-0 lead. Williams ran 58 yards for a score and a 14-0 lead on their second possession.

Kenny Doak kicked a 36-yard field goal to get the Redhawks (3-7, 3-2) within 14-3 at quarter's end. Murray State went up 21-3 on Williams' 1-yard TD run early in the second quarter. After Geno Hess raced 56 yards for a score to pull SEMS within 21-10, Witherspoon scored on a 7-yard run to put the Racers up 18 at halftime. There was no scoring in the second half. Williams completed 10 of 17 passes for 175 yards with two interceptions for Murray State. The Racers piled up 252 yards on the ground and finished with 452 yards of offense.   Jay Stanton ran for a season-high 134 yards with a touchdown, Samford's defense and special teams added scores and the Bulldogs defeated The Citadel 35-14 on Saturday. Stanton's 68-yard run gave Samford (4-5, 3-4 Southern Conference) a 14-7 lead in the second quarter and Montrell Washington added a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown for a 21-7 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Demarcus Ware scored his second rushing touchdown of the game and Midnight Steward scored on a 94-yard fumble return. Quarterback Jaylan Adams led The Citadel (2-7, 1-5) with 23 rushes for 80 yards but was just 4-of-12 passing for 73 yards. He ran for both of the Bulldogs' touchdowns.   Damonta Witherspoon pulled in a 16-yard touchdown pass to ignite a fourth-quarter comeback, then set up the game-winning field goal with a 21-yard catch in the final minute as Murray State came from 15 points down in the final period to beat Southeast Missouri State, 32-31 in an Ohio Valley Conference battle on Saturday afternoon. Geno Hess ran for two touchdowns and CJ Ogbonna ran for a score and threw 26 yards to Zack Smith to put the Redhawks up 31-16 after three quarters. DJ Williams hit Witherspoon to cap a six-play, 84-yard drive to start the final period, then Malik Honeycutt returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown to pull the Racers within 31-29.

After forcing a punt, Murray State (3-3, 2-1) got the ball back at its own 35 with 1:05 left. Williams scrambled 10 yards and a first down, then hit Witherspoon, who vaulted a defender to reach the Southeast Missouri State 34. Williams ran to the Redhawks 20 and Aaron Baum converted a 35-yard field goal as time expired for the win. Williams was 15-of-29 passing for 240 yards and a touchdown and carried 13 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Racers. Witherspoon ran 23 times for 81 yards and caught four passes for 56 more.   Zach Williams kicked a 38-yard field goal with 1:38 left and Walker Gliarmis missed a 41-yarder at the buzzer as Samford held off Wofford 27-24 on Saturday. Gliarmis made a 31-yard field goal to tie it at 24 with 4:43 left. Jay Stanton rushed 12 times for 130 yards and Liam Welch completed 26-of-41 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns for Samford (3-3, 2-2 Southern), which won its seventh straight in the series. Welch also rushed eight times for 39 yards and a touchdown. Chandler Smith caught seven passes for 52 yards and a touchdown for Samford. Montrell Washington had four catches for 69 yards, and Michael Vice also caught a touchdown pass.
