  Eli Drinkwitz's great quarterback chase of 2022 continues with a new target. Former Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and Mississippi State QB Jack Abraham is traveling to Columbia on Friday for a weekend visit, his father, Michael Abraham, told the Post-Dispatch. Abraham, who turns 25 in October, has embarked on a long college journey. The Oxford, Mississippi native committed to Tulane in high school but signed with Louisiana Tech in 2016 after the Tulane staff was fired. He redshirted at Louisiana Tech, then left for Northwest Mississippi Community College for the 2017 season, where he threw for more than 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns. From there he became a three-year starter at Southern Miss from 2018-20, throwing for more than 7,000 yards, 41 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. He led the nation in completion percentage in 2018 at 73.1% and for his three-year run completed 69.3% with a passer rating of 147.4. - Post-Dispatch

  Missouri has landed a reinforcement along the defensive line. D.J. Coleman, an FCS All-American at Jacksonville State, committed to Mizzou on Thursday and plans to spend his final year of eligibility in Columbia this fall. He announced his commitment on social media. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Atlanta native ranked second among all FCS players with nine sacks during the 2021 spring season. Last fall, he had three sacks among his 55 tackles. He's twice earned FCS All-American honors. Coleman visited Miami last month. Mizzou returns two All-SEC candidates at defensive end in Isaiah McGuire and Trajan Jeffcoat but could use some depth behind the two returning starters. MU added North Carolina transfer Tyrone Hopper in the offseason and also returns sophomore Johnny Walker Jr. and redshirt freshman Travion Ford and Arden Walker. - Post-Dispatch

  The Register-Guard learned Tuesday that Oregon defensive tackle Kristian Williams has entered the transfer portal. Williams was not in attendance during Oregon's spring practices and the spring game last month. When asked about Williams' status, Oregon coach Dan Lanning said he was "away from the program." Last season, Williams played in all 14 games and had 16 tackles and one pass break up. He finishes his Oregon career with 25 tackles and a tackle for loss.

Williams will have three years of eligibility remaining as he redshirted during the 2019 season and he is using the NCAA's one-time waiver due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Coming out of Southwind High School in Memphis, Tennessee, Williams chose Oregon over Indiana, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He was a four-star prospect by 247Sports as he was the No. 252 overall prospect in the nation, No. 20 defensive tackle and No. 6 player in Tennessee. - Register Guard

  2021 ALL-ASUN CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DL - DJ Coleman, Jacksonville State, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.,...Coleman, a junior from Atlanta, adds to his all-conference trophy case with his third-straight honor. He was an All-OVC selection and an All-America pick in each of the last two years before earning his first All-ASUN honor this season. Coleman was the Gamecocks' third-leading tackler and first among players on the defensive line.   Safety Jalen Catalon will return to Arkansas for the 2022 season. Catalon, a third-year sophomore who underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in October, announced his return in a video he narrated that was posted to his social media accounts Tuesday. Catalon starred during the Razorbacks' 4-0 start to the season. He had 11 tackles and a pair of interceptions that set up touchdowns during the season-opening win over Rice, and combined for 17 tackles and 3 pass breakups in the following games against Texas and Georgia Southern.

Catalon had 99 tackles and 3 interceptions during his first full season playing for the Razorbacks in 2020 when he was a Freshman All-American and semifinalist for the Thorpe Award. Catalon, one of five team captains this season, is the third draft-eligible starter to announce his intention to return to Arkansas next season. Offensive linemen Ricky Stromberg and Dalton Wagner have said they will return for their fourth and sixth seasons, respectively. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  2021 SEC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR (COACHES): University of Missouri senior running back Tyler Badie has been named the SEC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year by a vote of the league's head coaches, it was announced Thursday. Badie earned his bachelor's degree in sport management earlier this year with a 3.83 grade point average. He is in his first semester as a graduate student, pursuing a master's in athletic administration and positive coaching. A two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District section, Badie was a 2021 AFCA Good Works Team, Wuerffel Trophy and Campbell Trophy nominee. A native of New Orleans, La., Badie leads the SEC in rushing with 1,604 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. He also ranks first in all-purpose yards (1,939) and has hauled in four touchdown catches. Badie is the first Missouri student-athlete to earn SEC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. - SEC Football

  Missouri's Tyler Badie is the first player since Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor in 2018 to record five 200-yard rushing games in a season. Badie's latest was against Arkansas on Saturday, when he carried 41 times for 219 yards. Tulane's Tyjae Spears had the week's biggest game, running for 264 yards on 30 carries against Memphis. Iowa State's Breece Hall ran 18 times for 242 yards against TCU. Coastal Carolina's Shermari Jones had 211 yards on 23 carries against South Alabama.
