In his first season with UM, Clarke played six games, making five tackles with one interception. Clarke, a Winter Park native, was a three-star prospect coming out of college and was rated the No. 55 cornerback in his class, according to the 247Sports composite ranking. - Sun Sentinel

  08/18/22 - Harrison MevisSr/2024, Missouri, 6-0, 241 (DS#3 K) + More +

Harrison Mevis was one of the top kickers in the SEC last season. He finished the year having made 23 of his 25 field goal tries, including all three attempts from over 50 yards. He earned SEC player of the week twice in 2021, and voters at SEC Media Days gave him third-team All-SEC honors for the 2022 season. For Mevis, it's still not enough. "It doesn't matter what I did the last two years," Mevis said. "It does not matter to me. I'm just as hungry as I was my freshman year. I want to make all the kicks this year; 92% for me is unacceptable. I've got to be 100% this year."

Mevis was ranked as a first-team preseason all-American by Athlon Sports and Lindy's and second-team by Phil Steele. He was ranked as the top kicker in the SEC by a vote of USA Today's beat writers. He said he was pleased with the attention, but generally blocks out talk from outside the program. "I try not to really think about it," Mevis said. "It's nice to be recognized obviously, but if I'm going to be recognized, I want to be an all-American but I want to be an all-American for this team. I want to be there for this team." - Columbia Daily Tribune

  08/14/22 - Theo Wease Jr.rSr/2025, Missouri, 6-3, 200 (DS#54 WR) + More +

A lot has changed for Theo Wease since he arrived at OU as a freshman in 2019. The redshirt junior wide receiver watched the other two wideouts in his class, Jadon Haselwood and Trejan Bridges, depart the program. Wease worked to become tied for the Sooners' top passing target as a sophomore in 2020. He watched his role get reduced to a sideline spectator after missing all of last season with a lower leg injury. But as OU prepares for the 2022 season, Wease takes pride in being one of the team's most experienced, battle-tested players. "I'm the older guy now, which is crazy to say," Wease said. "I remember when I was just a freshman. It's crazy how college works. Some of your teammates who are with you in January might be gone by April. But I'm still here, standing tall and ready to finish the mission."

Wease almost joined the list of departed Sooners. In an interview on The Podcast On The Prairie on March 9, Wease admitted that he nearly transferred to Ole Miss to join forces with Jeff Lebby, who was then the Rebels' offensive coordinator. But everything fell into place when Lebby was hired as OU's offensive coordinator last December. Now, Wease hopes to become a fixture in a system that he feels suits his playing style. "It's up-tempo and fast-paced," Wease said. "I just want to go out there, compete to the highest level that I know I can and compete to my full potential." - Daily Oklahoman

  08/12/22 - Brady CookrSr/2025, Missouri, 6-2, 214 (DS#10 QB) + More +

Brady Cook is the guy. He's the one who will lead Missouri into the 2022 season, where wins need to come and skill players are in line to make it happen. And he's the right choice. Drinkwitz said it on the first day of practice Aug. 1: There is more depth and talent on the Tigers this season. He's not wrong in saying this is the most talented team he's had in his time in Columbia. Drinkwitz must have known this the moment that prized East St. Louis receiver Luther Burden committed to Missouri last October. He then added transfer players at every position on the defensive side of the ball and offensive players like Nate Peat. It's time to take a step forward. Cook is the right guy to do exactly that because he fits what Drinkwitz was looking for. The first thing Drinkwitz said he looked for was preparation.

Cook said on report day for preseason camp that his way of gearing up for the quarterback battle was by watching more film. He wanted to be mentally prepared for the games ahead, especially those on the road. MU has only won two away games under Drinkwitz. That trend has to change. The second thing Drinkwitz sought out of his starting quarterfinal was leadership - someone who could command the Tiger offense. As he said, there aren't bad teams, but rather bad leaders. Cook needed to show that he owned everything about the quarterback position. To show that nine days into camp is impressive. Cook brings the mobility needed to extend plays, and that also translates into how Drinkwitz can scheme for more designed quarterback runs and keep a defense honest. - Columbia Daily Tribune

  08/10/22 - Brady CookrSr/2025, Missouri, 6-2, 214 (DS#10 QB) + More +

Missouri will start Brady Cook at quarterback when the season begins next month, coach Eliah Drinkwitz announced on Tuesday. The decision comes eight days into preseason camp and roughly three weeks before the team's season opener at home against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 1. A redshirt sophomore, Cook appeared in five games last season after taking over for Connor Bazelak, who transferred to Indiana during the offseason. Cook completed 47 of 59 passes for 350 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for 134 yards and a touchdown. Cook beat out redshirt freshman Tyler Macon and former Mississippi State transfer Jack Abraham for the starting job. After opening the season on Thursday night against Louisiana Tech, Missouri will travel to Kansas State on Sept. 10.

As a redshirt freshman last season (2021) Cook participated in five games, earning the start in the Armed Forces Bowl against Army West Point (12/22)...finished the bowl game 27-of-34 for 238 yards and one touchdown...also rushed for a career-high 53 yards and a touchdown in the bowl...perfect 5-of-5 for 29 yards against Southeast Missouri State (9/18), with one touchdown...finished the season 47-of-59 for 350 yards and two scores while rushing for 92 yards and a score. - Missouri Football

  08/05/22 - Bence PolgarrSr/2024, Missouri, 6-2, 326 (DS#999 C) + More +

Center Bence Polgar, a transfer from Buffalo, has been ruled ineligible for the season by the NCAA for a matter related to his time at the Mid-American Conference school, Drinkwitz confirmed after Monday's practice. The school appealed the ruling and was denied, Drinkwitz said. He declined to elaborate further on Polgar's status other than saying he'll be with the team for the season but can't appear in games. Polgar was on the field in uniform for Monday's practice.

Without Polgar this fall, that leaves the competition to three contenders: redshirt freshman Connor Tollison, sophomore Drake Heismeyer and senior Richard Taylor. Whoever wins the job will be replacing two-year starter Michael Maietti, who played nearly every snap the past two seasons. Polgar started 11 games for Buffalo last season. "All three of those guys are very capable," Drinkwitz said. "Knock on wood, today we didn't have any snaps that were that were errant. So that was that was exciting to get through a day of practice and not a bad snap. - Post-Dispatch
