  Two key defensive players are expected back for Michigan football this fall, sources tell MLive, providing much-needed experience and leadership to a unit ravaged by injury this past fall. Defensive tackle Donovan Jeter and linebacker Josh Ross are both planning to return to the Wolverines for the 2021 season, utilizing an extra year of eligibility provided by the COVID-19 abbreviated schedule this past fall. While neither player has publicly announced their decision, Jeter and Ross have not entered the NCAA transfer portal nor declared for the 2021 NFL draft, which they are both eligible for. Jeter, a senior, has appeared in 24 games over the last three seasons. - Ann Arbor News

  Michigan tight end Nick Eubanks confirmed the expected - he's heading to the NFL Draft. Eubanks made the announcement Wednesday on Instagram a day after running back Chris Evans made it official that he's also leaving for the NFL. Eubanks was a co-captain last season. The 6-foot-5, 256-pound Eubanks played in five games this season, making 10 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. He has 45 catches for 578 yards (12.8 yards) and six touchdowns in his career with the Wolverines. - Detroit News

  Michigan running back Chris Evans officially announced Tuesday he is entering the NFL Draft. Evans already had accepted a spot in the Senior Bowl later this month, so this move was not unexpected. Evans rushed for 1,795 yards and 15 touchdowns during his career that paused for a year while he sat out because of a university suspension over an academic issue. Evans was set to become the lead back in 2019 but instead worked three jobs that year and remained in Ann Arbor. He rejoined the team in 2020 and had 16 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown during the abbreviated season. - Detroit News

  Mike Hart, the all-time leading rusher at Michigan and infamously known for inflaming the in-state rivalry with Michigan State, is returning to Ann Arbor. Hart, 34, was named the program's new running backs coach on Wednesday, leaving his post as associate head coach and running backs coach at Indiana, in an announcement from head coach Jim Harbaugh. The addition of Hart comes after two recent departures from the Michigan coaching staff. The status of Jay Harbaugh, who's coached the Wolverines' running backs since 2017, remains unclear after his contract expired on Monday. - Ann Arbor News

  Michigan's secondary got a boost on Monday with safety Brad Hawkins' announcement that he will return for the upcoming season. With Michigan defensive back Brad Hawkins reacts after breaking up a pass intended for Iowa tight end Nate Wieting (39) during the Hawkeyes' final drive late in the fourth quarter. Hawkins is the second defensive starter to announce his return, joining defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who recently said he will return for the 2021 season. Hutchinson is recovering from a broken ankle suffered last season and required surgery. His 86.7 field goal percentage was the third-best percentage in Louisville history.   Another member of the Michigan football team formalized his departure this week. Quinn Nordin, a fifth-year senior who spent the last three seasons alternating place-kicking duties, has declared for the NFL draft, New York-based agency Shark Sports announced Tuesday. "Time to go to work," Nordin wrote on Twitter, confirming the announcement. The Rockford, Mich., native converted 42 of his 58 field-goal attempts over four seasons, a 72.4 percent conversion rate that fluctuated during his time in Ann Arbor. - Ann Arbor News

  Michigan linebacker Cam McGrone and kicker Quinn Nordin have decided to prepare for the NFL Draft. Both announced their decisions Tuesday on Twitter. McGrone, a junior this season, thanked Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and former UM defensive coordinator Don Brown in his farewell statement, along with all the support staff. The 6-foot-1, 236-pound McGrone suffered a knee injury this season and played in five of the Wolverines' six games. He finished with 26 tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss.   Michigan got a bit of good news on the defensive side of the ball this week, with defensive end Aidan Hutchinson announcing plans to return in 2021. In a social media post Monday evening, Hutchinson wrote on Twitter that he's "not quite done yet" and will not declare for the NFL draft, like some analysts projected he would earlier this year. Hutchinson wasn't originally on the four-year plan. He came in and played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2018, then moved into a starting role as a sophomore in 2019, earning third-team all-Big Ten honors from the coaches while racking up 68 tackles (10 for a loss) and 4 1/2 sacks. Leveraging his athletic frame, Hutchinson added six pass deflections and two forced fumbles. - Michigan Live

He has punted 23 times in five contests, totaling 1,041 total yards with a long of 66. His average (45.3 yards per punt) is 10th-best nationally. Robbins has placed eight punts inside the 20-yard line (34.7 percent), with four inside the 10 (17.4 percent). At least one punt has been placed inside the 25-yard line in all five games Robbins has played this season, including two games with a punt inside the five. Furthermore, Robbins has forced 10 fair catches and has allowed only 12 return yards on 23 total punts in 2020. He and his coverage unit have Michigan as the Big Ten's No. 4 net-punting unit (41.5 yards per punt), allowing an average of 1.0 yard per return with two touchbacks. - Michigan Football

  2020 ALL-BIG TEN FOOTBALL HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Andrew Stueber,...Stueber has been part of an offensive line that has helped pave the way for some of Haskins' big games. A veteran voice, Stueber provided stability and critical leadership along the offensive line. He began the season at right guard, but kicked out for starts at right tackle through the last four weeks. Stueber returned this season after suffering an ACL injury in training camp leading up to the 2019 campaign. After an offseason of rehab, he came back to be an anchor for the Wolverines up front this season. This marks the first conference honor of Stueber's career. - Michigan Football
