According to multiple reports, quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei is expected to sign with Oregon State after entering the transfer portal following his third season at Clemson. The news was first reported Friday night by Pete Thamel of ESPN. Uiagalelei announced he was entering the portal on social media but has not yet posted any announcement of where he plans to enroll. Thamel reported that Uiagalelei is expected to make his decision official in the coming days.

Uiagalelei started two games as a freshman at Clemson before taking over the starting role as a sophomore and leading the Tigers to a 10-3 record. As a junior, he started 13 games before being benched during the ACC championship game against North Carolina. Following that game he entered the transfer portal. His overall record as a starter is 21-6. During his career at Clemson, Uiagalelei completed 60% of his passes for 5,681 yards and 36 touchdowns with 17 interceptions. He also scored 15 rushing touchdowns. - Gazette Times

Keiondre Jones won't be returning to Auburn next season. The former Tigers offensive lineman, who entered the transfer portal Dec. 1, committed to Florida State on Tuesday. Jones previously left the door open for a return to Auburn, saying upon his decision to enter the portal that he still considered the Tigers as one of his top options following the hiring of coach Hugh Freeze. Instead of returning to Auburn, the LaGrange, Ga., native will head a few hours south to Tallahassee, Fla., and join Mike Norvell's FSU program. Jones has two years of eligibility remaining. Jones, who was the first Auburn player to enter the portal after Freeze's hiring, is a former four-star prospect who appeared in in 36 games during his Auburn career. - Birmingham News

2022 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FIRST TEAM: OL: Jeremiah Byers, UTEP,...Byers started all 12 games at the right tackle position. The product of Austin, Texas, started in 30 games, playing in 34 during his career at UTEP. The redshirt-sophomore helped anchor an offensive line that helped the rushing offense average over 167 yards per game and place fifth in the league. The Miners produced two running backs to rush for 700+ yards, while UTEP rushed for 14 touchdowns. His efforts helped the offense gain over 400 yards in six games, tallying 500+ yards in two of those contests. Florida State running back Trey Benson is coming off a breakout season, his first with the Seminoles after transferring in from Oregon. Benson and several teammates are set to return in 2023. "It shows the commitment to this team, this university, to their joy for what it is to be a Florida State Seminole," Norvell said about the returners. "They'll be able to come back, continue to get better and help this program grow to where we're ultimately trying to get to." Benson is coming off a breakout season, his first with the Seminoles after transferring from Oregon. The redshirt sophomore was a second-team All-ACC selection after leading them in rushing yards (965) and attempts (141).

His 6.8 yards per carry average is the highest among ACC tailbacks with at least 100 rushing attempts. "I still have a lot to learn," Benson said. "I'm just getting started. I can be way better than I was this past year." Benson led the conference in missed tackles forced (77) and was fourth in the league with 30 runs of 10-plus yards. When asked what he needs to work on, Benson points to blocking and trusting his speed. Per USA Today, UCLA is the most obvious landing spot for Clemson transfer DJ Uiagalelei, who went to high school in nearby Bellflower, California, and could easily slide into the starting role vacated by Dorian Thompson-Robinson. After being replaced by Cade Klubnik in the ACC championship game, Uiagalelei would get a much-needed reboot in an offensive scheme that could maximize his ability to be a hammer in the running game. - USA Today

Jordan Travis knew midway through Florida State's football season that he wanted to come back for another year as the Seminoles quarterback. But the redshirt junior kept that decision to himself, waiting until after the regular season finale against Florida before announcing he would return for his senior season. He shared the news in the form of a 55-second highlight video posted on social media on Dec. 5. "So many memories have been made on this field," Travis said in the video taken in Doak Campbell Stadium. "And we're not done yet. See you in 2023." Travis was happy to share what he had known for quite some time. "It's a lot of weight off my shoulders," he said. "I've been thinking about it a lot. I just couldn't wait to get it out there, but I wanted to ensure the timing was right." The decision to return comes on the heels of a career season for Travis, who accounted for 3,163 yards of total offense with 30 touchdowns while leading FSU to a 9-3 record and its first bowl appearance since the 2019 season. He became the first player in school history with at least 20 touchdown passes and 7 rushing touchdowns in a season.

It wasn't long after Travis shared his decision with the public that several of his teammates followed suit. Linebacker Tatum Bethune, offensive lineman Robert Scott, receiver Mycah Pittman and running back Trey Benson were among the Seminoles to commit to returning in 2023. For many of those coming back, their decisions were made easier with the return of Travis. "He told me he was coming back and I was like OK, I'll join you," said Benson, who led FSU with 965 rushing yards. 2022 WALTER CAMP FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: KR Jaylin Lucas, Indiana,...With two return touchdowns, Lucas is No. 2 on both the IU single season and career charts after one season on campus. He trails Thigpen (2005-08), who returned all three of his career kickoffs for scores during the 2006 campaign. His two kickoff return touchdowns rank tied for No. 7 among active FBS student-athletes, as well. With 591 kickoff return yards, Lucas finished No. 12 in a single season in program history and led the Big Ten in the category. His 28.1 yards per return rank No. 4 nationally. He added 271 yards rushing and 82 yards receiving to total 994 all-purpose yards on the season to lead the team. Florida State linebacker Tatum Bethune has decided to return for the 2023-24 season. "I'm back, see you guys in 2023," Bethune said in the 20-second video posted on Twitter. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound redshirt junior was one of 13 transfers to join the FSU roster after coming from UCF. He was second on the team in tackles (76) and tackles for loss (8.5) while recording 2.5 sacks, 3 pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

Bethune's decision to play for the Seminoles reunited him with former UCF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon, who was promoted to linebackers coach at FSU in 2022 after serving one season as a defensive analyst on Mike Norvell's coaching staff. "Outside of football, me and Coach Shannon have a very strong relationship," Bethune said back in January. "Being able to play for him and building that bond again and being able to see him every day was great. When I realized he got the linebackers coach job a few weeks ago, it was a no-brainer." Shannon recruited him from Miami Central High when he was defensive coordinator at Florida in 2017 and later when he took over in the same capacity at UCF in 2018. Bethune signed with the Knights as part of their 2019 recruiting class. Florida State star quarterback Jordan Travis announced Monday evening that he is remaining with the Seminoles for one more year. Travis has established himself as one of the best FSU players in recent history and will enter 2023 as a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate. He pushed into the top 10 on FSU's all-time list in passing touchdowns (43) and rushing touchdowns (24). He ended the regular season with six consecutive games with at least three touchdowns and one or fewer turnovers - the longest streak in FSU history.

He starred in the finale against Florida, repeatedly turning sacks into long gains. Gators coach Billy Napier said Travis' legs were the difference in FSU's 45-38 victory. Travis has a 22-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio this year, and his passing efficiency (158.25) is 14th in the country. He also ranked in the top 30 nationally in total offense (3,163 yards) and 10th in yards per play (8.1). He is the first FSU player ever with at least 20 touchdown passes and seven rushing touchdowns in the same season. He has started 26 career games at FSU, including all 12 this season to help the No. 13 Seminoles to a 9-3 regular season, heading into the Cheez-It Bowl matchup against Oklahoma. - Tampa Bay Times

2022 WUERFFEL TROPHY WINNER: OL Dillan Gibbons, Florida State,...Florida State offensive lineman Dillan Gibbons is the winner of the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy, it was announced Thursday evening live on ESPN's The Home Depot College Football Awards Show. The Wuerffel Trophy, established in 2005 and named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, is presented annually to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field. Gibbons is the first winner of college football's premier award for community service from the ACC and only the second from a Florida school, joining 2008 winner Tim Tebow. Gibbons will be recognized during the Heisman Trophy festivities this weekend in New York City and will be officially presented his trophy in February at the All Sports Association Awards Banquet in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Gibbons, who was voted captain of the 2022 Allstate Good Works Team and winner of this year's Jim Tatum Award as the ACC's top senior football scholar-athlete, has established a non-profit foundation to raise funds for those in need. His foundation partners with collegiate ambassadors across college football and connects with charitable causes they are passionate about, including those with special medical needs, shopping with children in the community and repairing damage caused by natural disasters. His efforts have resulted in nearly $500,000 being raised to support meaningful causes throughout the college football community. Gibbons earned first-team All-ACC accolades as he blocked for one of the most explosive and efficient offenses in the country this season. South Carolina's Jaheim Bell, the most versatile offensive weapon the Gamecocks have, will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced late Monday night. A multi-use talent who could play running back, receiver and tight end, Bell came into the season with expectations that he would be a heavy part of every offensive game plan. Instead, he spent most of it without the ball in his hands, which led to late-season statements about his frustration and explanations from former offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield that didn't make much sense. Satterfield declared he wanted Bell to touch the ball as much as possible, something that was echoed by head coach Shane Beamer, but the execution screamed otherwise.

It came to a head after a 23-10 loss to Missouri where Bell was on the field for nine snaps and received no carries nor catches. "It's very frustrating going through the week knowing that you're going to get the ball and it doesn't happen," Bell said then. "It's kind of frustrating, but I kind of tried to let that go after Sunday and Monday and today on Tuesday, try to come in and build on it and be positive and prepare like a pro." The Gamecocks' final four games, which also featured injuries to top two running backs MarShawn Lloyd and Christian Beal-Smith, saw Bell's usage dramatically increase. Bell rushed nine times, scoring one touchdown, and caught two passes in the Gamecocks' 31-30 win at Clemson on Nov. 26. The thought was that Bell would consider the NFL Draft, but his statement on Monday said nothing about professional football, only that he was leaving USC. With fellow tight end Austin Stogner also announcing his intention to enter the portal on Monday, and Nate Adkins out of eligibility, the Gamecocks stand to return only Traevon Kenion from their four-TE rotation. - The Post and Courier
