KJ Jefferson threw for 262 yards and a touchdown and ran for another 58 yards to help No. 25 Arkansas beat Missouri 34-17 on Friday. Jefferson led Arkansas (8-4, 4-4 Southeastern Conference) to scores on four straight drives in the third and fourth quarters to turn a four-point halftime lead to 18 with less than 12 minutes left. Treylon Burks was his biggest help, catching seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Arkansas hadn't beaten Missouri since 2015, which was the last time the Razorbacks were eligible for a bowl. The eight wins are Arkansas' most in the regular-season since 2011. Missouri (6-6, 3-5), which finished the regular season at .500 for the third straight year, managed just 316 yards of total offense, 219 of which came from running back Tyler Badie on the ground. Badie scored Missouri's only touchdown with 1:25 left. The Tigers were largely beaten by the big play, which their offense never achieved. Arkansas averaged 8 yards per play to Missouri's 4.2.

On back-to-back drives in the third quarter Jefferson found wide receiver De'Vion Warren for a 55-yard gain to set up the first touchdown of the half, then he connected with Burks over the top for a 52-yard score that broke open the game. Missouri stiffened in the red zone on the third straight Arkansas scoring drive in the fourth quarter, holding the Razorbacks to a field goal. But Connor Bazelak's pass was intercepted on the next play before Warren's 32-yard end-around immediately put Arkansas back inside the 20. Rocket Sanders' 7-yard touchdown run capped the scoring. Bazelak finished 10 of 26 for 65 yards. Badie had 41 carries. He passed Devin West for Missouri's single-season rushing record, finishing with 1,604 yards. - Arkansas/AP College Football

Tre'mon Morris-Brash sacked Timmy McClain on the final play of the game and UCF held off South Florida 17-13 in an American Athletic Conference finale on Friday. McClain drove the Bulls from their own 11-yard line down to the UCF 3 using 2:43 to get off 11 plays before running into Morris-Brash. Parker Navarro's 3-yard TD run on his only carry of the game staked the Knights (8-4, 5-3) to a 7-0 lead with 6:16 left in the first quarter. McClain answered with a 5-yard TD run on the final play of the quarter to knot the score at 7. UCF used Mikey Keene's 7-yard scoring strike to Brandon Johnson with 11 seconds left before halftime to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room. Spencer Shrader kicked field goals of 41 and 36 yards in the third quarter to pull South Florida (2-10, 1-7) within 14-13. Daniel Obarski's 32-yard field goal with 8:51 left in the game pushed the Knights' lead to four. Johnny Richardson rushed for 94 yards on just eight carriers for UCF. Keene was 14-of-26 passing for 115 yards. - UCF/AP College Football

He added 11 tackles against each Tennessee Tech and FBS foe Ole Miss. Perry is the third APSU player to earn the Defensive Player of the Year award and first since Bob Bible and Mike Betts won back-to-back awards in 1977 and 1978.   Arkansas coach Sam Pittman wasn't worried about style points. He was happy to take the Razorbacks' first victory over LSU since 2015 however it came. Arkansas' Cam Little kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime after LSU freshman quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was intercepted by Montaric Brown earlier in the extra period, and the Razorbacks beat the Tigers 16-13 on Saturday night to take home the "Golden Boot" trophy. "Such a hard-fought game. It was ugly, beautiful and all in between," Pittman said. "It wasn't pretty, but we kept fighting. When that ball went through the uprights, it was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen." Nussmeier, who's been a backup throughout this season, replaced Max Johnson after two fruitless possessions to start the game and completed 18 of 31 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown.

But the promise he showed in spurts was overshadowed by his two interceptions. Nussmeier's overtime turnover came on a fade pass from the Arkansas 8. "That is on me," Nussmeier said. "I have to make the play and be smarter in overtime. I can't turn the ball over." After that, Arkansas needed just a field goal to win and set it up with three QB keepers by KJ Jefferson. Jefferson passed for 142 yards and one touchdown to running back Dominique Johnson, who slipped uncovered behind LSU's defense for a 43-yard touchdown while Jefferson was scrambling after spinning away from blitzing linebacker Damone Clark. "I knew they were bringing pressure, so I had to make one guy miss," Jefferson said. "Then I gave Johnson a good ball and he did the rest." - Arkansas/AP College Football

Arkansas' 31-28 win over Mississippi State on Saturday was not, as coach Sam Pittman said, the Super Bowl. But for a team two years removed from back-to-back 2-10 seasons, the worst two records of Razorbacks football since World War II, becoming bowl-eligible, in the fashion they did, was high on Pittman's wishlist. After Dominique Johnson scored the go-ahead touchdown with 21 seconds left and Mississippi State missed a potential game-tying field goal from 40 yards with two seconds remaining, Arkansas players and staff blitzed the field in cathartic glee. Trailing 28-23 with one minute left, Arkansas (6-3, 2-3 in SEC) appeared to have lost when KJ Jefferson's pass into the flat on fourth down from the Mississippi State 25 fell incomplete. But the Bulldogs were called for holding, Arkansas moved up to the 15 and two plays later, Johnson scored on a 4-yard run.

The touchdown came just 2:01 after Mississippi State (5-4, 3-3) had taken the lead on a 15-yard pass from Will Rogers to Jo'quavious Marks. Rogers with 417 yards and four touchdowns, completed three straight passes to move the Bulldogs from their own 25 to the Arkansas 22 and set up the final field-goal attempt. Nolan McCord, who replaced Brandon Ruiz after Ruiz missed two earlier in the game, including a 22-yarder, sent his kick wide left. "We didn't just win the Super Bowl but it feels like it," Pittman said. "Very, very excited to know we're going to play in December or January." The win made Arkansas (6-3, 2-3) bowl-eligible, under non-COVID qualifications, for the first time since 2016 and gave the Razorbacks their second win this season over a team ranked inside the College Football Playoff top 25. Arkansas began the year 4-0, including a victory over No. 14 Texas A&M, before three straight SEC losses followed. Rogers twice brought the fear of a fourth straight Arkansas loss. - Arkansas/AP College Football

On the heels of a three-game losing streak, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman and his players were in dire need of a confidence boost. The Razorbacks got that, at the expense of an in-state opponent. Sophomore quarterback K.J. Jefferson threw for a career-high four touchdowns, all coming before halftime, as Arkansas scored the first 45 points and defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 45-3 on Saturday in Little Rock. The Razorbacks had entered the game having dropped three straight games - all against Southeastern Conference foes - after starting the season 4-0 and being ranked in the Top 10 nationally. "Honestly, we needed to feel good again, and we went through a rough stretch," Pittman said. "Again, it's not an excuse, we went through a rough stretch, that's the truth, and coming back here (Saturday) to be up 45-0 at the half, that was a big, big deal for us; it really was. "It was (a big deal) for our coaching staff, to sit in there at halftime and going, ‘We did what we said we were going to do, we did what we needed to do." The Razorbacks (5-3) scored touchdowns on each of their first two possessions and made big plays in all three phases - offense, defense and special teams - breaking that losing streak in grand style. It also comes at a good time for Arkansas, which will now enjoy a well-deserved bye week before returning to the field on Nov. 6 against Mississippi State. - Arkansas/AP College Football

Mark-Antony Richards' 1-yard touchdown smash with 23 seconds left to play helped carry Central Florida to a 20-16 win over East Carolina on Saturday. Richards' score ended an 11-play, 64-yard drive that lasted just a little more than three minutes. Johnny Richardson paced UCF (3-2, 1-1 American Athletic Conference) on the ground with 104 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. Mikey Keene threw for 194 yards for the Knights. Holton Ahlers threw for 208 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Pirates (3-3, 1-1). With its sixth-straight win over the Pirates, UCF leads the cumulative series 11-10. - Central Florida/AP College Football

KJ Jefferson threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns before getting banged up to start the second half and No. 16 Arkansas held on for a 20-10 win over seventh-ranked Texas A&M on Saturday, the first in the series for the Razorbacks in their 10 seasons as Southeastern Conference foes. Texas A&M (3-1, 0-1 SEC) also had its overall 11-game winning streak snapped. Jefferson came up limping and favoring his left leg after getting tackled out of bounds to start the second half, and left a few plays later. But he did return to the game late, and was on the field to take the final kneel-down in the SEC opener to cap Arkansas' first 4-0 start since 2003.

The Aggies hadn't allowed a passing touchdown this season until Jefferson's 85-yard score to Treylon Burks, who pushed by a defender and match the catch near the 40. Burks appeared to stumble, but stayed upright and sprinted down the right sideline for 10-0 lead late in the first quarter. Arkansas leads 42-33-1 overall in the series that dates back to 1903 and includes their time as longtime Southwest Conference rivals. But Texas A&M had won all nine meetings since joining the SEC in 2012, which was 20 years after the Razorbacks debuted in the league. - Arkansas/AP College Football

A week after beating then-No. 15 Texas and a week before facing No. 5 Texas A&M, both age-old rivals, No. 20 Arkansas could have faltered against Georgia Southern. After all, the Razorbacks, who haven't had a winning season in five years, only beat the last Sun Belt team it played by a single point. The one before that actually beat Arkansas at home. No such disappointment this time as coach Sam Pittman's team smashed the Eagles 45-10 on Saturday behind quarterback KJ Jefferson, who threw for a career-high 366 yards and tied a career high with three touchdowns.

The win sets up a showdown with the Aggies next week in Arlington, Texas, where both teams will enter perfect. "We played them last year, they were the best football team we had played at that time," Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said. "It's a big deal." Jefferson and the Razorbacks defense were the biggest reasons for the blowout. Jefferson set his career high in passing by the first drive of the third quarter. A 60-yard touchdown pass to Warren Johnson gave him 275 yards, one more than his previous high, and gave Arkansas a 31-10 lead with 13:28 left in the period. On Arkansas' next offensive play, Jefferson connected with preseason All-SEC wide receiver Treylon Burks for a 91-yard score. At that point, the Razorbacks (3-0) were comfortable, shifting largely to the No. 9 rushing attack in FBS to slow the game and preserve the win. Jefferson, who entered as the No. 2 rushing quarterback in the SEC, spent more time on his passing instead, something his coach was happy to see improve. He entered the game with just 266 yards over the team's first two games. - Arkansas/AP College Football

Texas hasn't considered Arkansas to be a rival for a long time. Judging by the goal posts coming down Saturday night and with the Longhorns set to join the Southeastern Conference soon, that won't last. Arkansas ran for 333 yards, held Texas to 256 yards of total offense and the Razorbacks beat their former Southwest Conference nemesis 40-21 on Saturday night. The ninth-largest crowd in Arkansas history, 74,531 strong, was jubliant all night and many of them stormed the field afterward, celebrating their team's first win over Texas in Fayetteville since 1981.

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman was the Razorbacks' offensive line coach the last time they played Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl. He credited his former unit for the big night. Arkansas was 120th in FBS last year in sacks allowed. "Isn't that something? (Offensive line coach Cody Kennedy) comes in in June and we rush for 333 yards," Pittman said. "He's got some really hard-working kids. They took a lot of heat in the past and will, I'm sure, some in the future. But the way they played, to rush for 333 against a good Texas squad is outstanding." The Razorbacks led 16-0 at halftime as Texas was dominated from the beginning. The Longhorns (1-1) punted on six of their first seven drives. Their seventh resulted in a missed field goal. "This was not a performance I was anticipating," first-year coach Steve Sarkisian said. "But we'll find out about ourselves and what we're made of, because I really believe this one games not going to define us. But we've got work to do, that's for sure." - Arkansas/AP College Football

Isaiah Bowser ran for four touchdowns and Dillon Gabriel accounted for three more scores as UCF defeated Bethune-Cookman 63-14 on Saturday night. The Knights scored six rushing touchdowns as Trillion Coles and Gabriel also cashed in. Gabriel, the starting quarterback added 332 yards passing and two touchdowns. UCF (2-0) had 290 yards on the ground. Coles led the Knights with 78 yards rushing and Bowser added 59 yards. Shannon Patrick threw for 238 yards and both touchdowns for FCS Bethune-Cookman (0-2). UCF had 671 total yards and 37 first downs while holding the Wildcats to 279 yards with just 24 yards on the ground. - Central Florida/AP College Football
