Mark-Antony Richards' 1-yard touchdown smash with 23 seconds left to play helped carry Central Florida to a 20-16 win over East Carolina on Saturday. Richards' score ended an 11-play, 64-yard drive that lasted just a little more than three minutes. Johnny Richardson paced UCF (3-2, 1-1 American Athletic Conference) on the ground with 104 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. Mikey Keene threw for 194 yards for the Knights.   Mark-Antony Richards is reuniting with his former head coach. The former Auburn running back, who entered the transfer portal after the end of the 2020 regular season, announced on Tuesday that he has committed to UCF, where former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn last week was named the Knights' head coach. Richards is the first commitment for UCF under Malzahn. Richards, a former four-star recruit, redshirted at Auburn in 2019 after sustaining a preseason knee injury. He appeared in just four games last season, finishing the year with 20 carries for 76 yards to go along with one punt return for 18 yards. - Birmingham News

One of the top ranked players from Auburn's 2019 recruiting class has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Redshirt freshman running back Mark-Antony Richards went into the transfer portal Wednesday afternoon, AL.com has learned. After missing last season due to an injury, Richards finished the regular season this year with just 20 carries. The Florida native was rated as the fourth-best athlete and 90th-best overall prospect in the 2019 recruiting class within the 247Sports Composite rankings. - Birmingham News

Richards stepped up as the Tigers' leading running back against the Crimson Tide by taking a career-high 14 carries for 57 yards in Auburn's 42-13 road loss. His emergence was a welcomed one not only after his brief Auburn career was slowed by injury, but after fellow running backs Tank Bigsby and D.J. Williams were limited due to injuries. Now, the mission for Richards is to make the most of the opportunity. "I was real proud of Mark. He came in there, and you can see he has some miss-ability. He can break tackles," Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said. "That was good to get his feet wet and get him some experience there because our running back room is banged up right now. I think everybody knows that, but it's a really great opportunity for him. I talked to him about that after practice, but I thought he did a very good job in that fourth quarter." Richards' play in Tuscaloosa was a new highlight in a collegiate career that's had plenty of potential that's only been hampered due to injury. Richards arrived in Auburn as a four-star running back recruit who some anticipated could contribute early on as a true freshman in 2019. Those plans, however, didn't come to fruition. - Opelika-Auburn News
