  Draft Scout by Conference

Oregon is the team to beat in the Pac-12. And Anthony Brown is the man to beat at quarterback. After the Ducks were picked to win the Pac-12 in the preseason media poll Tuesday, coach Mario Cristobal said Brown will enter the Ducks' fall camp atop the depth chart. "Anthony will start with the ones. He has earned that," Cristobal said at the conference's media day event in Los Angeles. "He's done a very good job from a performance standpoint, leadership performance, taking on coach (Joe) Moorhead's offensive scheme. "At the same time, the freshmen behind him have done an excellent job as well. It merits them getting an opportunity to compete for that position as well. We will make that happen."

Tyler Shough started all seven games last season but transferred to Texas Tech after splitting snaps with Brown in the Pac-12 championship game and Fiesta Bowl. Brown was a combined 15-for-23 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over USC in the conference title game and the loss to Iowa State in the Fiesta Bowl. The Boston College transfer also had seven rushing attempts for 40 yards and two touchdowns. "He's a very cool, calm customer," Moorhead said during spring practice when Brown took all of the first-team snaps. "He's a guy that has played a lot of football, he's a guy that's extremely intelligent and has a lot of ability as a thrower and a runner...I think he has really seized the opportunity and understands the urgency that's required of this position." - Register Guard
