A crowded but largely unproven Texas Tech quarterback room just gained a transfer with starting experience. Tyler Shough, who started all seven games for Pac-12 champion Oregon last season and led the Pac-12 in passer rating, announced Monday on social media that he's transferring to Tech. He had been viewed as the top quarterback in the transfer portal after announcing his decision to exit Oregon earlier this month. Shough has three remaining seasons of eligibility, rare for a grad transfer. Blessed with good size (6-5, 221 pounds), Shough was ranked as the No. 1 prospect in Arizona in the Class of 2018. He redshirted as a freshman, backed up future NFL first-round pick Justin Herbert in 2019 and won the starting job last season. Shough completed 63.5% of his passes for 1,559 yards. He had 13 touchdown passes and six interceptions and also ran for 271 yards and two touchdowns. But Oregon also used Anthony Brown at quarterback late in the season, and Shough sat for a long stretch in the Fiesta Bowl loss to Iowa State. - Dallas Morning News
