Anthony Brown threw two touchdown passes in his unusual Oregon debut, Jamal Hill made an interception with 2:47 to play, and the Ducks won their second straight Pac-12 title with a 31-24 victory over No. 13 Southern California in the championship game Fr iday night. Tyler Shough also threw two touchdown passes for the Ducks (4-2), who didn't win the North Division, yet still claimed the Pac-12's New Year's Six bowl berth with their only victory in the past month.Oregon had a 31-17 lead with less t han 10 minutes to play, but Bru McCoy caught a TD pass on fourth down for the Trojans (5-1) before they got the ball back with 4:43 left. USC reached midfield in search of a fourth-quarter comeback win for the fourth time in its six-game season, but Kedo n Slovis threw the first fourth-quarter interception of his career. Hill made an acrobatic play to hang on to the poorly thrown ball, and Oregon's offense ran all but 23 seconds off the clock. USC reached the Oregon 49, but the Ducks' pass rush prevented Slovis from getting off a Hail Mary. - AP College Football

A day after committing to the Oregon Ducks, Boston College graduate transfer quarterback Anthony Brown joined "Recruiting with Andrew Nemec" on 1080 The FAN to discuss his recruitment and decision to join the flock. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound signal-caller and three-year starter was forced to audible when it came to his visit plans due to the NCAA's recent enactment of an emergency recruiting dead period in response to growing concerns about the coronavirus. But Brown had already taken a trip to Oregon and was impressed by what he heard from Mario Cristobal and new offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead. He was also pleased that the trip didn't involve a sales pitch or a promise of playing time - just an opportunity to compete for the starting job vacated by graduating quarterback Justin Herbert. "I wasn't promised anything - and that's another thing that I really liked about the staff," Brown said. "No promises, no guarantees, no strings attached - just me coming in… and me coming in and competing with th e other quarterbacks. And being able to bring experience to the table is a huge thing for me. I really appreciated the fact that they offered me the opportunity to come in and compete, especially with nothing guaranteed." The graduate transfer said the a bsence of a promise is "better for the team honestly… and better for the quarterback room." As a junior, Brown threw for 1,250 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions in six games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. - The Oregonian
