  08/12/19 - *Quintez CephusrJr/2020, Wisconsin, 6-1, 202 (DS#31 WR) + More +

The attorney for former Wisconsin football player Quintez Cephus says university officials are sending a "clear message" they don't want the former Badgers wide receiver back despite his acquittal in a sexual assault case. Attorney Stephen Meyer said Monday that discussions have collapsed. University spokeswoman Meredith McGlone said Monday she couldn't comment due to privacy rules. Cephus filed a petition for readmission last week, just days after a jury found him not guilty of sexually assaulting two students who said he had raped them. Meyer says the university has made clear it won't make a decision until "well after the semester has started." - AP College Football

Former Wisconsin Badgers football player Quintez Cephus says going back to school is his top priority after a jury found him not guilty last week of sexual assault charges. The wide receiver tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in a story published Tuesday that he doesn't know if he will return to the University of Wisconsin. The 21-year-old from Macon, Georgia, was suspended from the football team last summer and expelled from UW last semester after being accused of sexually assaulting two women. A jury found him not guilty on Friday. Cephus says his lawyers will work with UW officials to "to clean up my record" so he can return to school. - AP College Football

  08/01/19 - Danny Davis IIIrSr/2022, Wisconsin, 6-0, 188 (DS#114 WR) + More +

Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Danny Davis says at the trial of his former teammate Quintez Cephus that one of the women who accused Cephus of raping her had flirted with him shortly after meeting him for the first time. Cephus is charged with second- and third-degree sexual assault for alleged attacks on two 18-year-old women in 2018. Cephus has said the women wanted to have sex, but they testified they were too drunk to consent.

The Wisconsin State Journal reported Thursday that Davis testified that Cephus came out of the room naked and asked Davis to take a photo of the women, who were both asleep. Davis says he took one picture of a woman who immediately got up and demanded he erase it. He did. The trial was to conclude Friday. - AP College Football

  07/31/19 - Travis WiltjerSr/2020, Wisconsin, 6-0, 218 (DS#999 ILB) + More +

Four months ago, Travis Wiltjer had closed the book on football. The inside linebacker graduated in three years from Division-II Northwood University, where he amassed 152 career tackles. With one year of eligibility remaining, he briefly considered entering the NCAA transfer portal to see where it could take him, but he felt more ready than ever to start a career. After working at Northern Reflections Construction in Traverse City, Mich., he planned to join his boss, Ted Moore, in starting a contracting company in Florida. The two even flew south in March to market the new business and get a feel for the area. - Wisconsin State Journal
