Darrion Dupree had 131 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 17 carries to lead Wisconsin to a 24-10 win over Illinois on Saturday night. Dupree became Wisconsin's first 100-yard rusher this season. Dupree scored on an 84-yard run, the Badgers' longest play from scrimmage this season, to push Wisconsin's lead to 17-7 in the third quarter - Dupree's first touchdown of the season and second of his career. Darryl Peterson had three of Wisconsin's five sacks of Illini quarterback Luke Altmyer. Illinois finished with 298 total yards. Peterson talked to his teammates in the locker room at halftime and said he didn't want the Badgers to be complacent. Altmyer went 21 of 35 for 248 yards, and added 20 yards rushing and a touchdown on 13 carries.

Charlie Jarvis tackled the Illinois punter following a bad snap and Wisconsin took over at the 14. Four plays later, Dupree took a direct snap and ran 4 yards for a TD run that increased Wisconsin's lead to 24-10. The Badgers (4-7, 2-6 Big Ten) got on the scoreboard first as Vinny Anthony rushed 6 yards for a TD in the first quarter. Nathanial Vakos kicked a season-long 47-yard field goal to give Wisconsin a 10-7 lead with 14 seconds left in the first.   Wisconsin cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean has dismissed a lawsuit against against the NCAA, ending his bid for an extra year of eligibility. "I could no longer keep my coaches and teammates waiting for a decision from the judge," Fourqurean said Friday in an X post. "Very disappointing." Fourqurean went to federal court seeking to continue playing for Wisconsin this year because he believed his first two seasons at Division II program Grand Valley State shouldn't count toward his eligibility. U.S. District Judge William Conley granted him a preliminary injunction in February, but a federal appeals court overruled it in July. The case was supposed to go to trial last month, but that date was pushed back to 2026.

Fourqurean sought an injunction enabling him to play while the case is pending, but no ruling has been made on that request. Fourqurean said in his social media post that he was told on a hearing call that a ruling would come the last week of September when Wisconsin was on a bye week. "My coaches, teammates and I waited and waited, and still nothing from the judge since," Fourqurean said. Fourqurean made the announcement one day before Wisconsin (3-7, 1-6 Big Ten) faces Illinois (7-3, 4-3, No. 21 College Football Playoff ) in the Badgers' home finale. Wisconsin closes its season Nov. 29 at Minnesota (6-4, 4-3). Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell said last month that the lack of a ruling on the matter was "unacceptable." Fickell added that "to see what has happened to Nyzier is a shame." Fourqurean enrolled at Grand Valley State in 2020, when the pandemic canceled the season. He played at Grand Valley State in 2021 and 2022 before transferring to Wisconsin in 2023. Fourqurean played at Wisconsin from 2023-24 and has been seeking one more year of eligibility. He started all 12 games for Wisconsin last season and collected 51 tackles with one interception. He started five of the Badgers' last six games in 2023. - AP College Football

  11/08/25 - Cooper CatalanoFr/2029, Wisconsin, 6-1, 230 (DS#7 ILB) + More +

Two days after the announcement that he'd be returning as Wisconsin's coach next season, Luke Fickell got an even bigger vote of confidence from his players. Particularly from the guys on defense. Nathanial Vakos made a tiebreaking 32-yard field goal late in the third quarter and Mason Posa and Cooper Catalano led a dominant defensive effort as Wisconsin snapped a six-game skid by upsetting No. 24 Washington 13-10 on Saturday. "The whole locker room has been behind Coach Fick since day one," said Catalano, who had 19 tackles. "Hearing that obviously reaffirmed us." The Badgers (3-6, 1-5 Big Ten) had lost 11 straight games against Power Four opponents before winning this one as a 10½-point underdog, according to Sportsbook.

Wisconsin's victory came after athletic director Chris McIntosh announced Thursday that Fickell would remain the Badgers' coach beyond this season. "I have an incredible appreciation and respect for Chris McIntosh, what he has had to do," Fickell said. "There's mixed emotions on my part, to be honest with you. I don't ever want somebody to fight my battles, but I understand that that's where we are. I can't say thank you enough to Chris for fighting the battle he's fighting, and for Chancellor (Jennifer) Mnookin to listen and believe." The Badgers withstood an injury to quarterback Danny O'Neil, who was making his first start since Sept. 13 and got carted off the field with an apparent leg injury in the first quarter. Freshman Carter Smith took over for Wisconsin and went 3 of 12 passing for 8 yards in his college debut, though he rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown. Half of Wisconsin's 48 yards passing came from punter Sean West, who threw a 24-yard completion on a successful fake. Wisconsin's defense pushed Washington (6-3, 3-3, No. 23 College Football Playoff) around all day. Washington's only touchdown came on Denzel Boston's one-handed grab of a Demond Williams Jr. pass after Anthony Ward's blocked punt gave the Huskies first-and-goal from the 1. - AP College Football

Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell will return to lead the Badgers in 2026, athletic director Chris McIntosh announced on Thursday. With the Badgers 2-6 overall and winless in Big Ten play, McIntosh is informing the Wisconsin team on Thursday that Fickell will return as head coach next year. The return will come with changes, which include increased investment in the roster and program, along with an ongoing analysis of every facet of the program. "Chancellor [Jennifer] Mnookin and I are aligned on significantly elevating investment in our program to compete at highest level," McIntosh told ESPN. "We are willing to make an investment in infrastructure and staff. As important is our ability to retain and recruit players in a revenue share and NIL era." In three seasons at Wisconsin, Fickell has gone 15-19. Along with supporting Fickell, McIntosh pledges to support the program more financially to return the Badgers to contention in the Big Ten. "If Wisconsin is going to be as competitive as we expect, the support has to be as competitive," McIntosh said. "There's no getting around it. Our people, our fans are passionate about Wisconsin football. I'd have it no other way. A successful football program is important to university, the state and our lettermen." Fickell's deal runs through the 2031 season.

If he were to have been fired this year, he'd have been owed more than $25 million. (The one-year extension in the offseason did not impact the size of Fickell's buyout.) "This season has caused us all to have to look from within," McIntosh said. "Luke has had to do that. I've had to do that. He has a willingness to be better. So do I, and so does Wisconsin from an institutional perspective." There's optimism at Wisconsin that with college football settling into the revenue share and NIL era, the school will be better positioned because of the school's traditional success in attracting corporate partnerships. Those can translate to NIL deals, in addition to the revenue share available to all schools. "Our intention is to be, in terms of our investment, on par with those that we intend to compete with," McIntosh said. "Our expectations are to compete at the highest level in the Big Ten and beyond." Wisconsin has lost six straight games. The Badgers host No. 23 Washington on Saturday afternoon and finish the year at No. 2 Indiana, home against Illinois and at Minnesota. The 37-0 loss to Iowa at home earlier in the year marked the program's first home shutout since 1980. - AP College Football
