LeVante Bellamy, the nation's leader in rushing touchdowns, scored on a 4-yard run in overtime to give Western Michigan a 37-34 victory over Ohio on Tuesday night. Louie Zervos kicked a 37-yard field goal for Ohio (4-6, 3-3 Mid-American Conference) on the first possession in overtime before Bellamy rushed three times to cover the 25 yards and get the win. Bellamy had scored two rushing touchdowns in each of the four previous games but didn't have a score in this one until his overtime winner. He has 21 touchdowns this season.

Ohio's Tyler Tupa caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Rourke with nine seconds left to send the game into overtime. Jon Wassink threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns for the Broncos (7-4, 5-2), who got their first road win since Oct. 20, 2018 and took a half-game lead over Central Michigan (4-2) in the MAC's West division. Skyy Moore had four catches for 162 yards including a 61-yard score and ran 2 yards out of the wildcat for another touchdown. Bellamy rushed for 157 yards on 31 carries and three touchdowns, including one-yard, 16-yard and nine-yard scores, giving him 20 rushing touchdowns this season, a single-season career-high and currently the most in the nation (as of Nov. 8). LeVante Bellamy ran for 157 yards and three TDs and Western Michigan became bowl eligible for a school-record sixth straight year with a 35-31 win over Ball State on Tuesday night. Bellamy has an FBS-best 20 TD runs this season, and the Broncos (6-4, 4-2) moved into a first-place tie with Central Michigan in the Mid-American Conference West Division. Western Michigan's Jon Wassink passed for 124 yards and ran six times for 131 yards, including a 60-yard carry, a 46-yard TD and a 13-yarder for a first down to clinch the victory in the final minute.

The fourth quarter had four lead changes. The Cardinals (4-5, 3-2) took a 24-21 lead on Drew Plitt's 1-yard TD run and went in front again on Walter Fletcher's 4-yard run that made it 31-28. Bellamy had a 16-yard run to give the Broncos a 28-24 lead and a 9-yard run to cap the scoring with 1:05 left. Bellamy became the first Bronco with four rushing touchdowns since Jamauri Bogan vs. Bowling Green on Oct. 13, 2018. Bellamy rushed for nine-yard, 36-yard, 75-yard and 18-yard touchdowns. He has scored two or more touchdowns in five of nine games this year, including each of the last three contests. Bellamy has 15 career 100-yard rushing games, including six this season. Levante Bellamy rushed for 178 yards and a career-high four touchdowns - including one that covered 75 yards - as Western Michigan remained unbeaten at home with a 49-10 defeat of Bowling Green on Saturday. Less than a minute into the second half, Bellamy took a handoff and started right, cut back left through a huge gap on the left side of the line, and in a matter of steps was past the secondary and sprinting 75 yards untouched down the sideline to make it 28-3 for the Broncos (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American Conference). The run was his longest, and the longest by a Bronco since Jamauri Bogan's 76-yarder in 2015. Bowling Green (2-6, 1-3) had taken a 3-0 lead on a Nate Needham 31-yard field goal but Bellamy erased that in the first minute of the second quarter with a TD run from the 9. Bowling Green's Grant Loy was 18-of-26 passing for 136 yards but threw two interceptions. The Falcons were outgained 574-266 in total yardage. Spears intercepted Miami quarterback Brett Gabbert and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown to take a 7-6 advantage in the first half. Spears was part of a defensive effort that limited Miami to just 127 yards in the second half. His 74-yard interception returned for a touchdown was the first since Darius Phillips with a 43-yarder on Nov. 8, 2017. It was the Broncos first defensive touchdown since Patrick Lupro had a fumble return against Delaware State on Sept. 15, 2018. - MAC Football

Jon Wassink threw a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes to Keith Mixon Jr. and LeVante Bellamy ran for two fourth-quarter scores as Western Michigan beat Miami of Ohio for the seventh straight time, 38-16 in a Mid-America Conference battle Saturday afternoon. The Broncos now have won every meeting with the RedHawks since 2006. Sam Sloman put Miami in front in the first quarter, converting field goals from 51-and 49-yards out, but with the RedHawks driving, Western Michigan's Drake Spears jumped a pass route in the Miami backfield and raced 74 yards untouched for the touchdown to put Western Michigan (4-3, 2-1) in front, 7-6 in the second quarter. Wassink hit Mixon with scoring passes of 46- and 37-yards in the second quarter and the Broncos led 21-6 at intermission.

Sloman converted from 27-yards out and Jaylon Bester capped a 59-yard drive with a 3-yard run to pull Miami within a touchdown, 21-16 to start the fourth quarter, but Bellamy put the game away by sandwiching runs o f17- and 47-yards around a Thiago Kapps 24-yard field goal. Bellamy finished with 22 carries for 135 yards and Mixon had three catches for 84. Brett Gabbert, younger brother of Tampa Bay quarterback Blaine Gabbert and the first true freshman to start the season as the RedHawks quarterback in school history, finished completing 26 of 45 for 260 yards for Miami, but also threw three interceptions. - Western Michigan/AP College Football

Jon Wassink matched his career high by throwing five touchdown passes as Western Michigan dominated Monmouth 48-13 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night. Wassink, who threw for 368 yards with no interceptions, was 11-of-15 for 226 yards and three scores in the first half. This was his third game with over 300 yards passing. DaShon Bussell had three catches for 100 yards after two quarters, finishing with 116 yards receiving. Giovanni Ricci had five receptions for 97 yards and two TDs in this first meeting between the teams. The Broncos struck early and often, claiming a 21-0 lead after one quarter and going up 31-7 at the break. Thiago Kapps added two field goals to go with his six extra-point kicks to total 12 points. Bryce Nunnelly ran for 100 yards and caught a touchdown pass and Chattanooga coach Rusty Wright earned a win in his debut as the Mocs beat Eastern Illinois 24-10 in a season opener on Thursday night. Nick Tiano accounted for two touchdowns and 17-of-27 passing for 256 yards but threw a pair of interceptions for the Mocs. Ailym Ford added 50 yards rushing and a touchdown. Johnathan Brantley threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Nick Stricker late in the second quarter for the Panthers' only touchdown.

Tiano bulled into the end zone from the 1 in the first quarter and tossed a 59-yard touchdown pass to Nunnelly as the Mocs built a 17-10 halftime lead. Ford added a 1-yard scoring run early in the third quarter. The Panthers punted twice, failed to convert on fourth down and committed two turnovers in the fourth quarter. Before the Western Michigan football team took the field for its first full-pads practice of its 2019 fall camp Tuesday, the Broncos received some unfortunate injury news regarding two players expected to contribute this season.

Senior defensive tackle Wesley French and freshman wide receiver Damari Roberson will both miss the upcoming campaign with injuries. .

French, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive tackle from St. Joseph, suffered the same foot injury that ended quarterback Jon Wassink's 2018 season, while Roberson, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound freshman from Muskegon, injured his right knee.
