  12/24/20 - Kevin ThomsonrSr/2021, Washington, 6-1, 198 (DS#19 QB) + More +

The Kevin Thomson era is over. And at Washington, at least, it never truly began. On Tuesday afternoon, Thomson - a graduate student quarterback from Auburn - announced on social media that he will forgo his eighth and final season of collegiate eligibility to pursue a professional future. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound dual-threat quarterback transferred to UW from Sacramento State last offseason but did not appear in the Huskies' four games. - Seattle Times

  12/21/20 - Luke WattenbergrSr/2022, Washington, 6-4, 306 (DS#10 C) + More +

Luke Wattenberg has started 36 consecutive games, across four seasons, at three different positions. That streak will not be snapped in 2021. On Friday night, Wattenberg - a 6-foot-5, 300-pound redshirt senior from Trabuco Canyon, Calif. - announced on Instagram that he will return to Washington for his sixth season next fall. Because eligibility was essentially paused in 2020, the former JSerra Catholic High School standout was afforded the option of continuing his collegiate career for an extra season. He started all four games for the Huskies at center in 2020, after previously starting 27 games at left guard and five at left tackle. - Seattle Times

  12/21/20 - Patrick OBrienrSr/2022, Washington, 6-4, 220 (DS#31 QB) + More +

Patrick O'Brien, Colorado State's starting quarterback for the past two seasons, has entered the NCAA transfer portal. O'Brien has one year of eligibility remaining thanks to an NCAA rule that allowed all fall sports athletes to compete this year without losing a year of eligibility. The CSU quarterback announced his decision to enter the portal as a graduate transfer on Twitter. Once players enter the transfer portal, they can be recruited by other programs. O'Brien, a 6-foot-5, 235-pounder from San Juan Capistrano, spent two seasons at Nebraska before coming to CSU. He sat out the 2018 season under NCAA transfer rules while redshirting, then took over the starting job at CSU when Collin Hill suffered a season-ending knee injury three games into the 2019 season. - Fort Collins Coloradoan

  12/19/20 - Will RogersrSr/2025, Washington, 6-2, 207 (DS#17 QB) + More +

Will Rogers threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mississippi State to a 51-32 victory over Missouri on Saturday. After weeks of floundering offensively, Mississippi State (3-7, 3-7 Southeastern Conference) finally got many of their young weapons working in tandem. The Bulldogs racked up 446 yards of total offense in the game, including a season-high 151 yards on the ground. Their previous high was 87 yards in a loss to Arkansas in the second game of the year.

Missouri (5-5, 5-5) logged 342 yards of total offense, but many of them after the outcome of the game was already decided, and they turned the ball over four times. This is the second-straight .500 finish for the Tigers. Mississippi State led 27-10 at the half and Jo'quavious Marks punched in another score on the opening drive of the third quarter. Marks had 12 rushes for 70 yards. Jaden Walley led all receivers with five catches for 129 yards. Rogers was 21 of 36 and had one interception. For the Tigers, Conner Bazelak was 22 of 38 for 225 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Larry Rountree led all rushers with 121 yards and two touchdowns. - AP College Football

  12/14/20 - Elijah MoldenSr/2021, Washington, 5-10, 192 (DS#9 CB) + More +

Washington has pulled out of the Pac-12 football championship game due to COVID-19 issues in the Huskies program, and Oregon will now play No. 13 USC in the conference title game on Friday in Los Angeles. Washington (3-1) announced it was withdrawing from the championship game after determining the Huskies did not have at least 53 scholarship players available and did not meet minimum number of scholarship athletes at specific positions. Washington had to cancel its game last weekend against Oregon (3-2) that would have determined the Pac-12 North champion due to COVID-19 cases in the program that caused the Huskies to pause practice in the middle of last week. - AP College Football

  12/11/20 - Cade OttonrSr/2022, Washington, 6-5, 245 (DS#6 TE) + More +

On Saturday, Washington would be wise to include Otton in every aspect of its offense. "Cade Otton, I say he's one of the best in the country because I know what the NFL's looking for," Lake said. "They're not looking for guys to just flex out and catch passes all day. They want a guy that can line up on the outside of an offensive tackle, kick out a 9-technique, double down on a 6-technique (defensive end or outside linebacker), drive guys off the line of scrimmage, double up to a linebacker and seal him off so they have the run game going on offense, and then be able to release and go make catches. "For the tape that I've seen, Cade Otton is one of the best in the country. You guys have seen his production in the last few weeks here. What you may have not seen is all the excellent things he does in the run game. But if you watch it close, it's phenomenal." His pass-catching production is also phenomenal - more so in the second half. - Seattle Times
