  For all he's accomplished in his Oregon career, Justin Herbert had never faced the challenge of rallying from this much of a deficit, on the road and against the Ducks' most hated rival. Doing so would all but lock up the Pac-12 North, keep Oregon on the very fringes of the College Football Playoff conversation and put a nail in Washington's hopes of repeating as conference champs. "I don't even think we did that in high school. It was a lot of fun today and glad we got the win," Herbert said. Herbert capped Oregon's rally from a 14-point second-half deficit with a 5-yard TD pass to Jaylon Redd with 5:10 left, and No. 12 Oregon rallied to beat No. 25 Washington 35-31 on Saturday.

What was expected to be a defensive showdown turned into an offensive shootout with both Herbert and Washington quarterback Jacob Eason taking the spotlight. Eason was great. Herbert was better. Down 28-14 after Puca Nacua caught a 33-yard TD pass from Eason on the opening drive of the second half, Oregon's touted defense finally showed up and gave Herbert a chance to rally the Ducks. The Ducks pulled within 31-28 on the final play of the third quarter when a well-designed screen pass on fourth-down found Mycah Pittman, and the freshman raced untouched 36 yards for the score.   Bo Nix was itching to get back on the field after struggling in a loss to Florida in his last start for No. 11 Auburn. The problem was the wait took two weeks as the Tigers had a bye following the 24-13 loss. Nix didn't waste much time moving on, throwing three touchdown passes including two in the span of 22 seconds in the third quarter as the Tigers routed Arkansas 51-10 Saturday. The true freshman also ran for a touchdown as the Tigers completely dominated this Southeastern Conference contest. "It's fun being out on the field with guys like Sal (Canella), Eli (Stove) and Will (Hastings), guys that can get open if they are over there covering the other two (Seth Williams and Anthony Swartz)," Nix said. "Everybody is just starting to come along."

Nix hit Seth Williams down the right sideline on a 48-yard pass with 4:19 left in the third quarter, then after an Auburn interception, Nix connected with Anthony Schwartz on a 15-yard scoring strike to give the Tigers (6-1, 3-1 SEC) some breathing room after Arkansas had closed to within 17-3. "It was really important," Nix said of the third quarter surge. "We didn't finish off the first half very well. We moved the ball, we just couldn't score. The second half we came out and threw the ball around and it was very good." Nix finished the day completing 12-of-17 passes for 176 yards and touchdown strikes of 48, 28 and 15 yards including a pair to Williams. - Auburn/AP College Football

  Boston College junior quarterback Anthony Brown will miss the rest of the season with a leg injury. Coach Steve Addazio made the announcement Monday during his weekly news conference. Addazio said Brown will have surgery within the next few days. The injury is not expected to be career-ending. Brown was injured in the second quarter of the Eagles' 41-39 loss to Louisville on Oct. 5. In six games this season, he had 1,250 yards passing, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Dennis Grosel, who replaced Brown during the Louisville game and threw for three touchdowns, is expected to start when Boston College (3-3) hosts N.C.   A week after Gus Cumberlander was hurt against California, tight end Jacob Breeland was unable to return from a first-half leg injury suffered Friday against the Buffaloes. The injury will sideline Breeland for the remainder of the season, Cristobal said Monday. A senior from Mission Viejo, Calif., Breeland leads all tight ends at the FBS level with six touchdowns, including Oregon's first touchdown Friday, prior to the injury. He was generating significant NFL draft buzz, and has on tape for evaluators a career body of work at Oregon that includes 74 receptions for 1,225 yards and 13 touchdowns. "He's a really good player," Cristobal said. "Nowadays these injuries are very fixable. He'll come back and he'll train and we think he's going to play a long time. - Oregon Football

  Justin Herbert threw for 261 yards and extended his streak of games with a touchdown pass to 34, and the No. 13 Oregon Ducks beat Colorado 45-3 on Friday night for their fifth straight victory. Jaylon Redd rushed for a touchdown and caught a pass for another score for the Ducks (5-1, 3-0) who are 3-0 to open Pac-12 play for the first time since 2013. Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran for three touchdowns and CJ Verdell rushed for 171 yards. Oregon has not dropped a game since the season opener against Auburn.

Steven Montez threw for 131 yards for Colorado (3-3, 1-2) but he was intercepted four times on four consecutive drives. It is the second straight loss for the Buffaloes. Colorado receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. was day-to-day going into the game but he started and finished with four catches for 70 yards. He strained a core muscle against Arizona State on Sept. 21 and missed last weekend's loss to Arizona. Herbert was 18 of 32 with two touchdowns, bringing his total to 17 TDs this season. His string of games with a touchdown pass is the longest nationally among active players. The Ducks scored on their opening drive on Herbert's 7-yard scoring pass to Jacob Breeland.   Justin Herbert threw for 214 yards and a late touchdown to extend his streak of consecutive games with a scoring pass to 33, and No. 13 Oregon overcame an uncharacteristically slow start in a 17-7 victory over California on Saturday night. Oregon (4-1, 1-0 Pac-12) trailed until Cyrus Habibi-Likio's 1-yard touchdown run with 1:38 left in third quarter made it 10-7. Herbert's streak of TDs appeared in jeopardy until his short pass to Jaylon Redd with 7:14 to go in the game. The Ducks, whose only loss came in the opener against Auburn, were held scoreless in the first half by the surprisingly resilient Golden Bears (4-2, 1-2).

Junior Devon Modster made his first start for Cal in place of injured quarterback Chase Garbers. After struggling last week when Garbers got knocked out of Cal's loss to Arizona State, Modster fared better against Oregon's defense. Modster threw for 190 yards and a touchdown against the Ducks, who hadn't given up a TD since the game against the Tigers. Herbert's streak of games with at least one touchdown pass is the longest in the nation among active players. He was tied for seventh nationally with 14 touchdown passes this season going into the game. Herbert threw his first interception of the season on Oregon's opening drive.   No. 22 UCF shrugged off its first regular-season loss in nearly three years with a performance that sent a message to the rest of the American Athletic Conference. The two-time defending league champions are hungry for a third straight title. "Our kids are resilient," Knights coach Josh Heupel said Saturday night, after his team amassed 607 yards total offense and forced four turnovers in a 56-21 rout of Connecticut in an AAC opener that wasn't nearly as close as the final score might suggest. "There were a lot of questions because It had been so long since our program had lost a regular-season football game," Heupel added, "but our guys are competitors."

Dillon Gabriel threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns while UCF (4-1, 1-0) held UConn (1-3, 0-1) scoreless until late in the third quarter. The Knights improved to 29-2 since the start of 2017, bouncing back from a 35-34 loss at Pittsburgh that stopped a league- and school-record 25-game regular-season win streak. "It's been a long time since we lost in the regular season," said running back Adrian Killins, who had a 73-yard TD run. "The locker room after the game, the vibes and everything were off (last week), it wasn't normal...This Saturday we played lights out."
