Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux made it official on Monday night and announced that he would not return to the Ducks for his senior year. Thibodeaux is expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL draft, and the move to go pro was widely anticipated. He announced his decision on Twitter and Instagram, thanking Oregon for giving him "the opportunity to transition into a man ready to take on the world." "After much thought, consideration and a lifetime of preparation, I have decided to forgo my senior season of football and enter the NFL draft, further pursuing my dreams," he wrote. Thibodeaux will not play for the No. 15 Ducks in the Alamo Bowl against No. 14 Oklahoma on Dec. 29.

Oregon coach Mario Cristobal left the Ducks earlier Monday to become head coach at Miami. The Ducks on Monday night named assistant Bryan McClendon, pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach, interim coach for the bowl game. A 6-foot-5, 258-pound edge rusher out of Southern California, Thibodeaux proclaimed at the start of the season that his goal was to win the Heisman, a tall order for a defense player. But he sprained his ankle in Oregon's opener and had to miss the next two games. He also was ejected from the Ducks' overtime loss at Stanford, and had to miss the first half of the next game against Cal. - AP College Football

  11/27/21 - Anthony Brown Jr.rSr/2022, Oregon, 6-1, 217 (DS#18 QB) + More +

Anthony Brown Jr. threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns while running for another score, and No. 11 Oregon beat Oregon State 38-29 on Saturday to win the Pac-12 North Division and claim a spot in the league's championship game. The Ducks (10-2, 7-2) will face No. 16 Utah for the conference championship in Las Vegas on Friday. Oregon was coming off a 38-7 loss last Saturday against the Utes, which dropped them from No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings to No. 11 and out of contention for a national title. Oregon extended its home winning streak to 19 games, including 15 conference games.

Washington State, which defeated Washington 40-13 in the Apple Cup on Friday night, needed the Beavers (7-5, 5-4) to beat the Ducks to win the division. Devon Williams had six catches for 110 yards and a touchdown for Oregon, which will play for the league title for the third consecutive season. Travis Dye ran for 99 yards and two scores. B.J. Baylor ran for 59 yards for the Beavers, who are bowl eligible for the first time since 2013. Baylor came into the game leading the Pac-12 and at No. 10 in the nation with an average of 109.1 yards rushing per game. Oregon State's Chance Nolan threw for 308 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He ran for another in the waning moments. The game was chippy, with several shoving matches breaking out. Oregon state wide receiver Tre'Shaun Harrison was ejected late. - Oregon/AP College Football

  11/15/21 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

Auburn quarterback Bo Nix will miss the final two games of the regular season with an ankle injury. Nix was injured in a 43-34 loss to Mississippi State Saturday that represented the program's biggest collapse after leading 28-3. A team spokesman confirmed Sunday night that the Tigers quarterback is scheduled to have surgery on Monday. Nix, a three-year starter, stayed in the game before getting replaced by LSU transfer T.J. Finley in the final minutes. Auburn visits South Carolina on Saturday and closes the regular season against No. 2 Alabama. Nix posted on Twitter and Instagram about the injury. Having started all 34 games since arriving as a five-star recruit three years ago, Nix has completed 197 of 323 passes with 11 touchdowns against three interceptions this season. He has also run for four touchdowns. Finley started five games at LSU as a freshman, making his first start against Saturday's opponent, South Carolina. He went 2-3 as a starter before losing the job to Max Johnson. Finley transferred after the spring. His biggest impact came when he threw the go-ahead touchdown pass late in a comeback win over Georgia State. That prompted some fans to clamor for a change in starter, but coach Bryan Harsin stuck with Nix. - AP College Football

  11/14/21 - *Kayvon ThibodeauxrSo/2022, Oregon, 6-4, 256 (DS#3 DE) + More +

Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux says it's at that point of the season where every team wants to knock off the Ducks. Anthony Brown Jr. threw for 135 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 123 yards and another score as No. 5 Oregon beat Washington State 38-24 on Saturday night. Oregon, ranked No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings, has won five straight and extended its winning streak at Autzen Stadium to 18 straight games, including 14 straight victories at home over Pac-12 opponents. "Every game is a playoff game," Thibodeaux said. "Us having this target on our backs, it makes every team want to play their best. You know, one thing that we had a problem with was playing down to teams. And now I feel like we're in that mode where teams have to play up to us." Oregon (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12) needed to win and for Stanford to beat Oregon State up the road in Corvallis earlier on Saturday to clinch the Pac-12 North. The Beavers didn't hold up their end, winning 35-14 over Stanford.

Washington State (5-5, 4-3) tied the game at 14 before halftime but Oregon pulled away in the third quarter. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak over Pac-12 opponents for the Cougars, who fell to BYU on Oct. 23 in a midseason nonconference game. The Cougars still need one more win to become bowl eligible and perhaps redeem a season that has been marked by turbulence. Washington State dismissed head coach Nick Rolovich on Oct. 18 after his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19. "Our guys aren't going to quit. They're gonna keep fighting," WSU interim coach Jake Dickert said. "They're gonna keep battling. I think the biggest thing we were looking for in this game is just improvement and keep progressing in our program, keep moving forward." - Oregon/AP College Football

  11/07/21 - Anthony Brown Jr.rSr/2022, Oregon, 6-1, 217 (DS#18 QB) + More +

By the time the final seconds ticked away, most of the purple had vacated, leaving Oregon to once again dance around the field and celebrate in the stands of arguably its most-heated rival. On a windy, rainy night the seventh-ranked Ducks showed a bit more "prowess" - the word of the week in this rivalry - than Washington. "Proud of the way our guys came out and showed our prowess in handling inclement weather," Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said. "We continued to play hard throughout the entire game making sure every critical situation our team responded really well." Travis Dye rushed for a career-high 211 yards and a touchdown, Anthony Brown ran for a score and passed for another and Oregon overcame a sluggish start to beat Washington 26-16 on Saturday night.

A year after the border rivals didn't play due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Huskies program, the Ducks (8-1, 5-1 Pac-12) fell behind early before running off 21 consecutive points and beat Washington for the seventh time in the past eight games played in Seattle. "The W means everything to me. The performance is just a plus," Dye said. Brown threw a 31-yard TD pass to Devon Williams late in the first half to take a 10-9 lead at the break and scored on a 2-yard run early in the third quarter. Dye capped the scoring streak when he rumbled 19 yards for a score on the first play of the fourth quarter to give the Ducks a 24-9 lead. Dye's rushing performance was the most yards rushing by an Oregon running back against Washington since Jonathan Stewart went for 251 yards in 2007. Oregon had 215 yards rushing and averaged 6.9 yards per carry in the second half. - Oregon/AP College Football

  10/31/21 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

Bo Nix passed for 276 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more scores and No. 18 Auburn's defense made a number of big stops in a 31-20 victory over 10th-ranked Mississippi on Saturday night. The Tigers (6-2, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) remained the top challenger to No. 3 Alabama in the Western Division with Nix winning a quarterback duel with Heisman candidate Matt Corral. The Rebels (6-2, 3-2) had their three-game winning streak end after squandering four second-half scoring chances, three with failed fourth down passes inside the 20.

Plus Jaylin Simpson intercepted a pass in the end zone - only Corral's second this season - midway through the fourth. "That's points. They're not going to take points on special teams," Auburn coach Bryan Harsin said. "They're going to go for it and we get the ball back. You kind of think of that as a turnover. "Those were critical moments in the game that we were able to win." Nix completed 22 of 30 passes and ran for 30 yards. Tank Bigsby ran for 140 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers. "Bo made a lot of plays for them, especially early on," Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said. "I thought our defense after struggling early played especially well, gave us a bunch of chances offensively to win. "That's four times in the red zone with no points. That's going to be hard to win." Corral had his 19-game streak with a touchdown pass end with a 21-of-37, 289-yard performance. He did run for a score, returning after getting carted to the locker room with an injury to his left ankle, previously hurt against Tennessee. - Auburn/AP College Football
