  05/25/22 - Noah WhittingtonrSr/2026, Oregon, 5-08, 205 (DS#10 RB) + More +

Noah Whittington's transfer from Western Kentucky did not receive much attention, but he could be one of the more underrated additions to the 2022 class. In the spring game with presumed starter Byron Cardwell out, Whittington rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. His biggest run came in the second quarter as he scampered for 45-yards before scoring a two-yard touchdown. Whittington will provide depth at the running back position as he will likely rotate with Cardwell, Sean Dollars and Mar'Keise Irving, who transferred from Minnesota earlier this month. - Register Guard

  05/25/22 - *Christian GonzalezrSo/2023, Oregon, 6-1, 197 (DS#2 CB) + More +

During the offseason, Oregon cornerback Mykael Wright declared for the NFL Draft and Jaylin Davies (UCLA) and DJ James (Auburn) both transferred. Oregon found an experienced cornerback to help provide depth in Christian Gonzalez. In January, Gonzalez transferred from Colorado where he recorded 24 tackles and four pass breakups for the Buffaloes as a freshman. He followed that up in 2021 as Gonzalez finished with 54 tackles, six pass breakups, and five tackles for loss. Gonzalez could potentially be one of the impact players in Lanning's and Tosh Lupoi's defense. - Register Guard

  05/25/22 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

The newcomer who could have the most significant input on the Ducks' 2022 season is Nix, who transferred from Auburn after three seasons. During last month's spring game, fans potentially saw what Oregon's offense could look like this fall. On the first play from scrimmage, Nix completed a 70-yard pass to wide receiver Seven McGee. He would also later throw another 70-yard completion to Dont'e Thornton.

In the spring game, Nix completed 8 of 15 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, the Ducks' passing game was stagnant at times. If Nix can keep defenses honest by completing passes down the field consistently, that will open up so much offensively. Nix was inconsistent throughout his career at Auburn, but his best season was in 2019 when he threw for 2,542 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. Oregon's current offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham was Nix's quarterback coach at Auburn in 2019. - Register Guard

  05/22/22 - Alex BalesSr/2024, Oregon, 5-11, 171 (DS#999 K) + More +

On Friday, the Oregon Ducks added a kicker to their roster. Former Cincinnati Bearcat kicker Alex Bales committed to Oregon as it adds an experienced kicker to compete with Camden Lewis and Washington State transfer Andrew Boyle. Bales averaged 62.5 yards on 84 kickoffs last season as he also registered 45 touchbacks, which tied for 22nd in the country. His 53.6% touchback percentage ranked 55th nationally as Bales was 2-for-5 on field goals and 12-for-13 on extra points last year. Bales will have three years of eligibility remaining at Oregon after transferring. He is the 10th transfer player the Ducks program as added this offseason. - Register Guard

  05/20/22 - Chase CotarSr/2023, Oregon, 6-3, 201 (DS#92 WR) + More +

One of the most discussed of UO's nine incoming transfers this offseason, Cota chose to cap his college career in his home state and where his dad played. He cited offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham and receivers coach Junior Adams with outlining the plan and vision for the offense that made coming to Oregon from UCLA the move in his final season. "It was definitely still a tough decision," Cota said. "As much as it would be great to come back home, which I ended up doing, and playing for the Ducks because I grew up a Duck fan it also was the best spot for my last year of college football and where I thought I could fit in the best and have an impact and set myself up for success." Cota had 18 catches for 286 yards and a touchdown last season and had 49 catches for 597 yards with five scores during his first three seasons.

That makes him by far UO's most experienced and productive returning receiver, albeit with all that production with the Bruins. "Ultimately, I think Chase has played in this league and has some serious experience in this league," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "The familiarity with this place and the place that he wanted to be I think appealed to him. So it was just kind of a perfect match." His six catches for 100 yards during the spring game showed Cota's sure hands, route running and willingness to take contact in various areas of the field. - The Oregonian

  05/20/22 - Troy FranklinJr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 176 (DS#8 WR) + More +

Franklin saw the most action of Oregon's three freshman wide outs last season and had 18 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Most importantly, he's added weight to his frame. Though UO didn't release updated measurements during the spring, Franklin said he's up to 180 pounds and is aiming to be closer to 190 in the fall. "I think Troy would tell you that he's got to continue to look to put on weight, but that's going to be something that's going to be important for him moving forward and his progress as a player," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "I'm looking for him to continue to do that, but he has to be aware of his nutrition has to have a plan and obviously, we're going to help set that for him." Franklin had four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown during the spring game while on the Green team with Ty Thompson at quarterback. The last time Oregon had 60 or more passes of 20-plus yards was 2014, when it led the Pac-12 and ranked third nationally with 73. It is absolutely vital for Franklin to become a consistent threat to blow the top off the coverage for Oregon to get close to that after posting just 42 such plays last season. - The Oregonian

  05/19/22 - Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-2, 214 (DS#6 QB) + More +

Here is the Pac-12's welcome to Oregon quarterback Bo Nix after transferring from Auburn. The Pac-12 conference announced that starting in 2022, the two teams with the highest conference winning percentage will play each other in the Pac-12 Championship Game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday, Dec. 2. "The measure was passed with unanimous support from the league head coaches, athletic directors and board of directors," the conference said in a statement. The Pac-12 North and South Divisions and the schedule will remain in place for the 2022 season. However, the scheduling for the 2023 season and beyond will be examined after this year. The NCAA on Wednesday approved the deregulation of the current rule that limited an individual conference to determine their football championship game participants.

This changes affect Oregon in several ways. Instead of Oregon possibly being consensus to play in the conference championship, USC and Utah will likely be the two favorites despite being in the same division. The 2022 schedule will remain the same as Oregon will likely be a contender to play in Las Vegas for the Pac-12 title, but it is possible Utah and USC could be ranked ahead of the Ducks in the preseason Top 25 when it's released in August. Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff: "Today's decision is an important step towards that goal and immediately increases both fan interest in, and the media value of, our Football Championship Game." If the new model had been adopted in 2011, Oregon would have played in the Pac-12 Championship game six times instead four since 2011. - Register-Guard

  05/06/22 - Casey RogersrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-4, 294 (DS#32 DT) + More +

Casey Rogers is headed to Oregon. He'll find at least two familiar faces there. Rogers, the former Nebraska defensive lineman, entered the transfer portal two weeks ago. Wednesday, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound senior announced via social media that his new team will be the Oregon Ducks. Tony Tuioti, who coached Nebraska's defensive linemen from 2019 to 2021, took over in December at Oregon in the same role. Jordon Riley, a reserve defensive lineman on last season's Husker team, in January announced his transfer to the Ducks. Rogers was expected to be one of Nebraska's stalwarts on the defensive interior alongside Ty Robinson this fall.

Rogers missed the first five games of the 2021 season with a knee injury suffered in preseason camp and then aggravated that same knee on one of the final snaps of the 2021 season against Iowa. That caused Rogers to miss spring ball, but he was tracking toward being healthy this summer and a starting role in the fall. A native of Syracuse, New York, Rogers has played in 19 games over the past three years for the Huskers. He played in four games in the 2019 season as a redshirt freshman, then appeared in all eight during the shortened 2020 campaign. He entered the portal with 42 tackles (6½ for loss) and 1½ sacks to his name to go along with a pair of passes defensed. - Lincoln Journal Star

  05/04/22 - Bucky IrvingJr/2024, Oregon, 5-09, 192 (DS#10 RB) + More +

Minnesota Golden Gophers running back Mar'Keise Irving announced on Twitter that he is transferring to Oregon. As a freshman last season, Irving led Minnesota with 966 all-purpose yards. He also rushed for 699 yards (ranked 12th in the Big Ten) and four touchdowns on 133 carries. Before his time at Minnesota, Irving was a star at Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Illinois, as had 3,264 rushing yards and 587 receiving yards. In his final year in high school, Irving rushed for 1,733 yards and 22 touchdowns as he was a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. Irving will join a loaded Oregon backfield with four other scholarship running backs on its roster. Byron Cardwell and Sean Dollars participated with the Ducks this spring. Oregon will also have 2022 commit Jordan James joining the team in June. - Register Guard

  04/29/22 - Dillon GabrielrSr/2025, Oregon, 5-11, 205 (DS#12 QB) + More +

The OU Spring Game was all Brent Venables hoped it would be. An OU football celebration, with former Sooner players returning en masse, a Heisman statue dedication for Baker Mayfield, a huge crowd and a spirited game. The new OU quarterback looked composed and agile, just as advertised, and his 19-of-28 passing, much of it against a ferocious south wind, was solid. Against the wind, Gabriel completed 10 of 13 for 130 yards. Gabriel threw a few passes behind his target, which the Sooners occasionally have seen in springs past but rarely in autumn. And Gabriel threw a pass intended for Jalil Farooq on a streak route, but cornerback Kendall Dennis had excellent coverage and intercepted. - Daily Oklahoman

  04/24/22 - Brandon DorlusrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-3, 283 (DS#9 DT) + More +

Now that Thibodeaux is no longer with the Ducks program, the team will need a new leader on the defensive line. The good news for Oregon is that it has many talented players at the defensive end and line positions. Brandon Dorlus could be the player who fills Thibodeaux's footsteps as he finished with 25 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks last season. Oregon also has Popo Aumavae, who was a Coaches Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention last season as he finished the season with 36 tackles and three tackles for loss. The good news is the Ducks won their biggest game of the 2021 season without Thibodeaux as they defeated Ohio State 35-28 in Week 2. - Register Guard

  04/23/22 - Jaylon ReddrSr/2022, Oregon, 5-08, 170 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Former Oregon Ducks wide receiver Jaylon Redd expected to spend the past four months rehabilitating his fractured foot and preparing for next week's NFL draft. Instead, what should have been an exciting time in his life, filled with promise and hope, was spent contending with dread and uncertainty. Last December, Redd was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on his pancreas. The news shocked the Redd family, especially given Jaylon's youth and excellent health. "I would not wish it on anybody," said his father, Fred Redd. "It was the toughest thing I've been through as a dad." But after successful surgery in January, Redd, 23, has been working his way back into physical condition in hopes that his NFL dreams might resume. "I'm feeling good," Redd said. "I'm ready to get back into it. I'm ready to go. My hope is for somebody to give me an opportunity." Stunned by the news was former Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, now the head coach at Akron. Even Moorhead didn't know what Redd had been going through but felt confident that if anyone could recover from such adversity to get back onto the field and succeed, it would be Redd. "From a pure mentality standpoint, if there's ever a kid that I've been around who can overcome this type of adversity and is equipped to do it because of his mental toughness, it would be Jaylon," Moorhead said. - The Oregonian

  04/23/22 - Casey RogersrSr/2024, Oregon, 6-4, 294 (DS#32 DT) + More +

Nebraska's depth on the defensive line is already a question mark and now one of its most productive players is testing the transfer market. Senior Casey Rogers entered his name into the NCAA's transfer portal on Wednesday afternoon, multiple sources confirmed to the Journal Star. Reached by the Journal Star on Wednesday afternoon, Rogers declined to elaborate on his decision. The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder was expected to be one of the Huskers' stalwarts on the defensive interior alongside Ty Robinson this fall. He missed the first five games of the 2021 season with a knee injury suffered in preseason camp and then aggravated that same knee on one of the final snaps of the season against Iowa on Black Friday. That caused Rogers to miss spring ball, but he was tracking toward being healthy this summer and a starting role in the fall. It's easily the most surprising portal entry of the offseason for Nebraska. - Journal Star
