Chase Young's final, brilliant season with Ohio State football transcended the recognition typically bestowed on the nation's top defensive players. The defensive end's intimidating presence off the edge made him a Heisman Trophy finalist and led the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff. As expected, Young will forgo a senior season in Columbus and transfer those talents to the next level. He announced via Twitter on Friday that he plans to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. A unanimous All-American, Young's awards haul included the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, the Chicago Tribune Silver Football and the Nagurski and Bednarik awards as the nation's top defensive player. With some bowl games yet to be played, Young leads the nation in sacks (16.5) and sacks per game (1.38) and ranks fourth in tackles for loss per game (1.75).   01/01/20 - *Jeffrey Okudah, Jr/2020, Ohio State, 6-1, 205 (DS#1 CB) + More +

Jeff Okudah's lock-down performance at cornerback helped Ohio State football's defense emphatically return to prominence in 2019. It also made him one of the most coveted NFL Draft prospects at the position. On Wednesday, the junior announced - in a letter to his late mother published at The Players Tribune - that he will leave the Buckeyes to pursue that opportunity. Okudah is the second Ohio State player to declare early entry for the draft, following running back J.K. Dobbins' Monday announcement. Decisions are forthcoming from defensive end Chase Young, slot cornerback Shaun Wade and others as to their 2020 status. Okudah recorded 35 tackles with three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a team-high nine pass breakups. He and Young were both unanimous All-America selections, and Okudah was a finalist for the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. - Cleveland.com

Wade was ejected late in the second quarter Saturday night for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence laid on the field and had to be attended by trainers after Wade's hit and another hit that twisted his left knee. He returned for the next series.   12/24/19 - *Justin Fields, Jr/2021, Ohio State, 6-3, 227 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields may not be fully healthy when the second-ranked Buckeyes face No. 3 Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. Fields said Tuesday his left knee is only 80 to 85% heading into Saturday's College Football Playoff semifinal in Glendale. He plans to wear a small brace during the game and brought a larger one in case anything happens. "My knee's probably not where I want it to be right now," Fields said. "But I think with treatment every day and just resting it every day, hopefully, it will be better by the game."

Fields aggravated a previous injury against Penn State on Nov. 23 and again the following week against Michigan when a teammate rolled into his knee. He struggled in the first half of the Big Ten championship game against Wisconsin before throwing two touchdown passes as the Buckeyes rallied for a 34-21 victory. Fields has been practicing in the buildup to the Fiesta Bowl but with limited mobility. "I try to get as many reps as possible," he said. "I really haven't missed any reps, I've just been getting in there and playing. I just can't really move like I want to." Fields finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting and was named the Big Ten offensive player of the year after throwing for 2,953 yards, 40 touchdowns and one interception. The winner of Saturday's game will face No. 1 LSU or No. 4 Oklahoma in the national title game Jan. 13 in New Orleans. - AP College Football
