Norvell raves about the three roommates, who all pace the MW in their respective statistical categories. Strong is first in the conference in passing yards (2,327) and passing touchdowns (21); Doubs is first in receptions (44), receiving yards (885) and receiving touchdowns (nine). And Turner is second in receptions (40) and receiving scores (six) and third in receiving yards (496), each pacing MW tight ends. "It's fun to coach this group of guys," Norvell said. "It really is. I mentioned Cole Turner and Romeo Doubs and Carson Strong are all roommates, and I kind of call them The Three Amigos. But they all have the same personality. They don't say much. They just love to practice and love to play and have great chemistry together. It's fun to see those guys all kind of mature together."

Norvell said Nevada's offensive improvement is a result of his players having more experience together. Strong, Doubs and Turner were each members of Norvell's second recruiting class and worked out every day together during the summer as the COVID-19 pandemic raged on. They'd sneak out to the field to run routes and grow their on-field chemistry. The bond has been formed over three years of living together and has fully blossomed in 2020. "It 100 percent helps," Turner said of being roommates. "We've all been super close friends. We've always lived together. Always being around each other, we know each other and each other's personalities. We've always gelled. None of us are ever getting mad at each other. We're always on the same page." - Nevada Sports Net

  12/11/20 - Dom PetersonrSr/2023, Nevada, 6-0, 300 (DS#33 DT) + More +

Nevada was largely without two defensive starters in last week's win against Fresno State but expects to get one of those players back fully and the other to be a larger contributor. Starting cornerback EJ Muhammad, who missed the Fresno State game with a concussion, has been cleared for Friday's game against San Jose State. "He was under concussion protocol, and those things are tricky," Nevada coach Jay Norvell said. "You never quite know when they're going to release them. There was an opportunity he was going to play, but he just didn't work through the protocol. He's been cleared to practice (this week) and has been out on the field and I anticipate him being ready."

Meanwhile, Dom Peterson, the Wolf Pack's star defensive lineman, played only a couple of snaps against Fresno State with a sprained ankle. He's expected to get more reps against a strong Spartans offensive line. "It's hard to really predict," Norvell said. "I really thought he'd play (against Fresno State). I knew he wouldn't be 100 percent last week. But I think he'll be better this week, and he'll have a few more days to get better. He'll play more than he did last week. I don't know how much more, but I think it'll be pretty hard to keep him out of this game." - Nevada Sports Net

He connected on his season-long make of 49 yards on Saturday in a win over Fresno State. Talton's field goal percentage of 92.9 and his field goals per game average of 1.86 both rank second in the Mountain West and are seventh nationally. Additionally near the midway point of the season, Talton led the nation with 18 consecutive field goals made until his miss against SDSU from 51 yards out. - Nevada Football

Carson Strong threw three of his career-high five touchdown passes to Tory Horton and Nevada beat Fresno State 37-26 on Saturday night in a key Mountain West Conference matchup. Nevada (6-1, 6-1) kept pace with San Jose State (5-0, 5-0), which beat Hawaii 35-24 earlier Saturday. Horton, a freshman from Fresno, California, caught a 17-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and an 85-yarder early in the fourth. On third-and-10, he beat and then jumped over a defender in the end zone for a 32-yard score with 5:32 to play. Strong completed 23 of 39 passes for 354 yards. Horton finished with five catches for 148 yards. Fresno State's Jake Haener threw a program-high 65 passes, completing 41 including a pair of touchdown passes.
