2019 ALL-SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: OL Jason Poe, Lenoir-Rhyne,...Poe repeats as the Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner, given to the best offensive linemen in the league. Poe started all 11 games for the Bears and is described by Coach Cronic as the best pulling guard he has ever coached. Poe's proficiency helped LR to 270.5 rushing yards per game and 34 TDs on the ground. "Jason has played through more injuries this year," said Cronic. "He's had to tough his way through the season and for him to get the award again this year says a lot about him and the respect he's earned. He's a special type of offensive lineman that plays in a unique offense and it suits him well. His athleticism shines with the things we ask him to do." - Lenoir-Rhyne Football

2019 JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST: Devron Harper, WR/RS, Gardner-Webb: 31 receptions, 499 yards, 2 TDs; 23.9 KO return average, 1 TD; 137.7 all-purpose yards per game (9 games),...Harper (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) is just the second Gardner-Webb freshman to be included on the list since its inception in 2011. Former GWU cornerback Jaylan Foster was a strong candidate during the 2016 season and went on to earn Big South Conference Freshman of the Year – and Freshman All-America honors that postseason. Harper burst onto the scene quickly, earning Big South Freshman of the Week honors following an electric debut at Charlotte on August 29. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound dynamo took a kickoff 99 yards to paydirt that evening and has continued to make big plays in the return game and as a big-play receiver.

Through nine games this season, Harper has caught 31 passes for 499 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 16.1 yards per reception. He also averages 23.9 yards per kickoff return, with long efforts of 99 yards (TD) and 88 yards so far. Harper ranks fifth nationally in combined kick return yards (725) and 14th nationally in all-purpose yards (137.7 per game). He has topped the 200-yard mark for all-purpose yardage three times this season, with a high of 304 yards at Wofford on September 21. - STATS FCS/Gardner-Webb Football

Tyray Devezin scored on four short runs and Caleb Dowden kicked a winning 38-yard field goal in the third overtime, atoning for two earlier missed kicks, and Mercer outlasted Samford 36-33 on Saturday night. Dowden missed an extra point in the third quarter and a 35-yard field-goal attempt that would have won it with 2 seconds left in regulation but came through with two field goals in the OT periods. The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime and field goals in the second before Samford's Mitchell Fineran, who made 4 of 6 field goals, missed from 39 yards to open the third OT. Mercer gained four yards on its third OT possession before lining it up for Dowden.

Chris Oladokun accounted for all three of Samford's touchdowns with a 1-yard run, a 12-yard pass to Kendall Watson and a 3-yard run that came in the first OT. Mercer (4-5, 3-3 Southern Conference) led for about 5 1/2 minutes of regulation, first taking a 3-0 lead late in the first quarter then going ahead 23-20 on Devezin's third touchdown run late in the fourth. Devezin rushed for 130 yards on 38 of his team's 44 carries. Jay Stanton had 141 rushing yards on 23 carries for Samford (4-5, 3-3). Samford linebacker John Staton had 22 total tackles, three solo. Mercer linebacker Sidney Otiwu had 21 total tackles, eight solo. He was ejected near the end of Samford's touchdown drive in the first overtime. The reason for his ejection was unclear. - AP College Football
