Former GWU cornerback Jaylan Foster was a strong candidate during the 2016 season and went on to earn Big South Conference Freshman of the Year – and Freshman All-America honors that postseason. Harper burst onto the scene quickly, earning Big South Freshman of the Week honors following an electric debut at Charlotte on August 29. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound dynamo took a kickoff 99 yards to paydirt that evening and has continued to make big plays in the return game and as a big-play receiver.Through nine games this season, Harper has caught 31 passes for 499 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 16.1 yards per reception. He also averages 23.9 yards per kickoff return, with long efforts of 99 yards (TD) and 88 yards so far. Harper ranks fifth nationally in combined kick return yards (725) and 14th nationally in all-purpose yards (137.7 per game).
