LSU tight end Jamal Pettigrew has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to AL.com. The 6-foot-7, 254-pound senior entered the Tigers football program as a four-star prospect out of St. Augustine High in New Orleans, and, after four years in Baton Rouge, which included sitting out 2018 with an ACL tear, Pettigrew is moving on. Pettigrew recorded two catches for 17 yards in his LSU career. LSU coach Ed Orgeron told the Baton Rouge Rotary Club Wednesday that the Tigers are "better at tight end than we've been in a long time." Five-star true freshman Arik Gilbert is expected to see plenty of playing time this season. The 6-foot-5, 249-pound Georgia, native was the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2019, when he led Marietta High to the 7A state championship. - Baton Rouge Advocate

Moved from the defensive line to the offensive line prior to spring practice earlier this year, UL junior Masry Mapieu tweeted that he has entered the NCAA transfer portal. A one-time Nebraska commit, Mapieu - from York High in York, Nebraska - was "dropped from Nebraska's 2018 recruiting class over concerns he wouldn't academically qualify," according to a Omaha World-Herald Report in 2018. The 6-foot-4, 285-pounder also held offers from Power 5 programs including Iowa and Iowa State while in high school. Mapieu appeared in 12 of 11-3 UL's 14 games last season, finishing with three total tackles including two in a Sept. 14 win over Texas Southern. - Daily Advertiser

The Arizona State football program loaded up at the running back position during the last recruiting cycle, adding four-star standouts Dea'Monte Trayanum and Daniyel Ngata from Ohio and California respectively. The Sun Devils also went out and got a community college transfer in Raachad White. Not surprisingly, one of ASU's returning backs has decided to seek a transfer. Sophomore rusher A.J. Carter, who had 19 carries for 50 yards in minimal time last season, has opted to leave the program. The 6-foot, 218-pound Louisiana native played sparingly last season but did get a chance to show what he could do given a primary role when starter Eno Benjamin opted to sit out ASU's Sun Bowl game in El Paso, Texas against Florida State. Carter had four carries for 12 yards with a game-best of 15 yards, resulting in negative yardage on the other tries. He also had two fumbles. - Arizona Republic
