  10/11/19 - Antoine Brooks Jr.Sr/2020, Maryland, 5-11, 220 (DS#4 SS) + More +

Maryland safety Antoine Brooks Jr. has 30 solo tackles, most in the Big Ten and the 15th-highest total in the country. "When you see a safety lead in tackles, you kind of think, well man, (they're) getting a lot of big plays," Locksley said. "But a lot of his tackles take place around the line of scrimmage." Brooks' value to the Terrapins transcends his performance on the field. "The biggest asset is his leadership," Locksley said. "He doesn't do it with a whole bunch of talk, and he's not a guy that stands up in meetings and talks. But he plays hurt, he plays reckless with his body." - AP College Football

Maryland's Javon Leake has a knack for getting into the end zone, as evidenced by his performance last week against Rutgers Leake scored on runs of 41 and 12 yards, and he also returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, helping him earn Big Ten special teams player of the week honors for the second time in his career. In a Week 2 upset over No. 21-Syracuse, Leake ran for 107 yards on just seven carries and scored a pair of TDs. Leake has 898 yards in kick returns, 13th in school history, and last year against Illinois became the first Terp to score four touchdowns in a game since D.J. Adams in 2010. - AP College Football

Josh Jackson threw two touchdowns before being hurt and Javon Leake scored three more as Maryland used the big play to rip downtrodden Rutgers 48-7 on Saturday, spoiling the debut of Scarlet Knights' interim head coach Nunzio Campanile. The Terrapins (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) had five touchdowns of 23 yards or longer and scored three touchdowns on three consecutive offensive plays in the second quarter in snapping a two-game losing streak and handing Rutgers (1-4, 0-3) its fourth straight loss. Not only did Rutgers lose, it saw sophomore quarterback Art Sitkowski, who started the last two games, and junior halfback and captain Raheem Blackshear sit out the fourth game while pondering whether to redshirt a season quickly going down the tubes. One has to wonder whether they will transfer the program now that former coach Chris Ash has been fired after three-plus seasons.

Jackson, who left the game after hurting his right ankle late in the first half, connected with Dontay Demus Jr. on an 80-yard pass play on Maryland's first play from scrimmage. He added a go-ahead 23-yard TD pass to Tayon Fleet-Davis just three plays after Rutgers used a flea-flicker to help tie the game at 7 on a 3-yard run by new starting quarterback Johnny Langan. Leake got his first score on the Terps' next play from scrimmage. It was a 42-yard run, one play after Rutgers failed to get a first down on a fourth-and-1 gamble from its own 42 while trailing 14-7. - Maryland/AP College Football

The rookie receiver registered five first downs and reached pay dirt twice during the 34-10 road win. His first two receptions went for touchdowns. After going without a first-quarter catch, Chambers converted a 3rd-and-8 by cashing in on an 11-yard scoring strike with 12:06 left in the opening half. Later in the second quarter, he made a catch over the middle and turned up field for a 60-yard touchdown that gave SHU a 27-7 lead.   09/16/19 - Chad RylandrSr/2023, Maryland, 6-0, 190 (DS#2 K) + More +

WEEK 3 MAC WEST DIVISION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eastern Michigan K Chad Ryland,...Eastern Michigan sophomore kicker Chad Ryland (Lebanon, Pa.) nailed a 24-yard game-winning field goal as time expired for a 34-31 win at Illinois on Saturday. Ryland has now used a last-second field goal to beat a Big Ten foe in consecutive seasons, after walking-off Purdue, 20-19, in West Lafayette, a season ago. Ryland etched his name into the Eastern Michigan record books as he drained a career-long 52-yard field goal, which is tied for the second-best in school history and is the longest field goal since Dylan Mulder set the school record with a 55-yard field goal vs. Miami on Nov. 7, 2015. - MAC Fotball

Maryland flashed one of the more dominant offenses in the nation in the first two games, rolling to a 79-0 win over Howard and 63-20 victory over then-No. 21 Syracuse. The Terps averaged 335.5 yards rushing, the fourth-best average in the country and were best among Big Ten teams. The Terps' offense dragged in Philadelphia vs. Temple. Maryland had just 79 yards rushing and two first downs in the first half, its lone score came on a safety. Jackson was sacked three times, McFarland was stuffed on fourth-and-goal and Joseph Petrino was wide left on a 42-yard attempt. Maryland even botched a fake field-goal attempt in the second quarter, and suddenly the Terps seemed to be spiraling toward another upset loss to the Owls. - AP College Football

  09/07/19 - Josh JacksonrSr/2022, Maryland, 6-1, 218 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Using a fast-paced offense that's racking up huge chunks of yardage and scoring at an astounding clip, Maryland isn't content merely to blow out the opposition. The objective Saturday was to pound No. 21 Syracuse into submission. "Our goal was to try to make them quit, and I think we did a good job at that," quarterback Josh Jackson said after the Terrapins rolled to a surprisingly lopsided 63-20 victory. Jackson threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns to anchor another prolific offensive performance by Maryland, which scored 42 first-half points and finished with a whopping 650 yards in offense. After beating Howard 79-0 in their first game under coach Michael Locksley, the Terrapins (2-0) came up with an impressive encore against a highly regarded foe.

The 63 points were the most ever by Maryland against a ranked opponent. Although Locksley eased up after a 64-yard touchdown run by Javon Leake early in the third quarter, the Terrapins finished with 29 first downs and 354 yards rushing. Locksley came to Maryland after serving as offensive coordinator at Alabama, and Jackson transferred from Virginia Tech in February. The two have teamed to form a quick-strike offense that is equally effective on the ground and through the air. Jackson completed 21 of 38 passes, attempting only two throws in the fourth quarter. He has tossed seven TD passes in two games with one interception. - AP College Football

  08/31/19 - Josh JacksonrSr/2022, Maryland, 6-1, 218 (DS#999 QB) + More +

The game started with coach Michael Locksley and quarterback Josh Jackson unsure what to expect in their Maryland debut. By halftime, Jackson was done for the day and Locksley' biggest concern was trying to keep from running up the score on defenseless Howard. Jackson threw four touchdown passes and the Terrapins rolled to a 79-0 victory Saturday in a record-breaking performance. With Jackson leading the way, Maryland scored 28 points in both the first and second quarters to shatter the school mark for most points scored in one half. The assault continued in the second half, with the only suspense being if the Terrapins would break the school record for points in game - 80 against Washington College in 1927. Maryland's third-stringers had a first and goal at the 4 in the closing minutes but couldn't push the ball in. - AP College Football

  08/06/19 - Jeshaun JonesrSr/2024, Maryland, 6-1, 186 (DS#43 WR) + More +

Maryland receiver Jeshaun Jones tore his anterior cruciate ligament at practice Monday and will miss the 2019 season, the school announced Tuesday. After a standout freshman campaign, Jones entered this season as part of the young group of playmakers that gave promise to Maryland's offense in the first year under Coach Michael Locksley. The Terrapins have a deep corps of receivers, but Jones would have likely been a starter in 2019. Jones will redshirt this season and will likely return in time for next season’s spring practice. - Washington Post
