SEPT 9/WEEK 2 NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: TYRESE CHAMBERS, SACRED HEART, WR, Fr., 6-1, 175 lbs., Baltimore, MD/Poly,...WEEK 2 Stats: 4 receptions, 94 rec yards, TD reception,...Chambers accounted for a trio of explosive plays (20+ yard gains) during Sacred Heart's triumphant home opener against Patriot League member Bucknell. The freshman receiver totaled four receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown in a 30-10 victory. His receptions went for 24, 28, 5 and 37 yards.

Chambers first catch converted a 3rd-and-9 situation and took the ball into opponent territory late in the first quarter of a scoreless game. The rookie was on the receiving end of a 28-yard scoring strike that increased the SHU lead to 17-3 with 6:26 left in the opening half. Chambers' 37-yard reception brought the Pioneers into the red zone during the final minute of the third quarter. - Northeast Conference Football

  09/16/19 - Chad RylandrSr/2023, Maryland, 6-0, 190 (DS#2 K) + More +

WEEK 3 MAC WEST DIVISION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eastern Michigan K Chad Ryland,...Eastern Michigan sophomore kicker Chad Ryland (Lebanon, Pa.) nailed a 24-yard game-winning field goal as time expired for a 34-31 win at Illinois on Saturday. Ryland has now used a last-second field goal to beat a Big Ten foe in consecutive seasons, after walking-off Purdue, 20-19, in West Lafayette, a season ago. Ryland etched his name into the Eastern Michigan record books as he drained a career-long 52-yard field goal, which is tied for the second-best in school history and is the longest field goal since Dylan Mulder set the school record with a 55-yard field goal vs. Miami on Nov. 7, 2015. - MAC Fotball

Maryland flashed one of the more dominant offenses in the nation in the first two games, rolling to a 79-0 win over Howard and 63-20 victory over then-No. 21 Syracuse. The Terps averaged 335.5 yards rushing, the fourth-best average in the country and were best among Big Ten teams. The Terps' offense dragged in Philadelphia vs. Temple. Maryland had just 79 yards rushing and two first downs in the first half, its lone score came on a safety. Jackson was sacked three times, McFarland was stuffed on fourth-and-goal and Joseph Petrino was wide left on a 42-yard attempt. Maryland even botched a fake field-goal attempt in the second quarter, and suddenly the Terps seemed to be spiraling toward another upset loss to the Owls. - AP College Football

  09/07/19 - Josh JacksonrSr/2022, Maryland, 6-1, 218 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Using a fast-paced offense that's racking up huge chunks of yardage and scoring at an astounding clip, Maryland isn't content merely to blow out the opposition. The objective Saturday was to pound No. 21 Syracuse into submission. "Our goal was to try to make them quit, and I think we did a good job at that," quarterback Josh Jackson said after the Terrapins rolled to a surprisingly lopsided 63-20 victory. Jackson threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns to anchor another prolific offensive performance by Maryland, which scored 42 first-half points and finished with a whopping 650 yards in offense. After beating Howard 79-0 in their first game under coach Michael Locksley, the Terrapins (2-0) came up with an impressive encore against a highly regarded foe.

The 63 points were the most ever by Maryland against a ranked opponent. Although Locksley eased up after a 64-yard touchdown run by Javon Leake early in the third quarter, the Terrapins finished with 29 first downs and 354 yards rushing. Locksley came to Maryland after serving as offensive coordinator at Alabama, and Jackson transferred from Virginia Tech in February. The two have teamed to form a quick-strike offense that is equally effective on the ground and through the air. Jackson completed 21 of 38 passes, attempting only two throws in the fourth quarter. He has tossed seven TD passes in two games with one interception. - AP College Football

  08/31/19 - Josh JacksonrSr/2022, Maryland, 6-1, 218 (DS#999 QB) + More +

The game started with coach Michael Locksley and quarterback Josh Jackson unsure what to expect in their Maryland debut. By halftime, Jackson was done for the day and Locksley' biggest concern was trying to keep from running up the score on defenseless Howard. Jackson threw four touchdown passes and the Terrapins rolled to a 79-0 victory Saturday in a record-breaking performance. With Jackson leading the way, Maryland scored 28 points in both the first and second quarters to shatter the school mark for most points scored in one half. The assault continued in the second half, with the only suspense being if the Terrapins would break the school record for points in game - 80 against Washington College in 1927. Maryland's third-stringers had a first and goal at the 4 in the closing minutes but couldn't push the ball in. - AP College Football

  08/06/19 - Jeshaun JonesrSr/2024, Maryland, 6-1, 186 (DS#43 WR) + More +

Maryland receiver Jeshaun Jones tore his anterior cruciate ligament at practice Monday and will miss the 2019 season, the school announced Tuesday. After a standout freshman campaign, Jones entered this season as part of the young group of playmakers that gave promise to Maryland's offense in the first year under Coach Michael Locksley. The Terrapins have a deep corps of receivers, but Jones would have likely been a starter in 2019. Jones will redshirt this season and will likely return in time for next season’s spring practice. - Washington Post
