  04/08/21 - Majon WrightrSr/2026, Marshall, 6-2, 197 (DS#999 WR) + More +

If all goes according to plan, wide receiver Ma'jon Wright will be an Arizona Wildcat again this summer. Wright emerged as Arizona's most promising freshman last season, catching 15 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown in five games. But when the UA changed coaches, Wright, like several of his teammates, entered the NCAA transfer portal. Wright subsequently announced he would return to Arizona. He then changed his mind again and transferred to Middle Tennessee State, where he was enrolled and announced as part of the Raiders' 2021 signing class. Offensive lineman Jamari Williams - Wright's teammate at Arizona and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida - also transferred to MTSU. Now Wright is planning to return to Arizona after he and his family had a change of heart. - Arizona Star News

National Signing Day might have passed last week, but that hasn't stopped Marshall football head coach Charles Huff from pressing forward. As Huff stated previously, there are no days off in recruiting - something he showed on Wednesday as a high-major talent committed to the Thundering Herd out of the transfer portal. Clemson's LeAnthony Williams, a 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back, announced in a message on social media that he would spend his last two seasons with at Marshall. Williams was one of the nation's most sought-after recruits out of high school in the Class of 2017, ranking No. 203 in overall prospects, according to 247Sports. - Charleston Gazette

Clemson lost another player Tuesday night as cornerback LeAnthony Williams entered the transfer portal. Williams, who just completed his redshirt junior year, appeared in 11 games in 2020. He had 12 tackles. The Georgia native signed with Clemson for the class of 2017 as a four-star recruit. He picked Clemson over Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and others. Williams is the fifth Clemson player to enter the transfer portal since the Tigers lost to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl, joining Jordan Williams, Nyles Pinckney, Mike Jones Jr. and Kaleb Boateng. - The State

Ma'jon Wright's commitment to the post-Kevin Sumlin era at Arizona has been wishy-washy, but the wide receiver, who emerged as one of the Wildcats' top pass-catchers in 2020, officially ended his time at the UA on Saturday night by announcing his decision to transfer to Middle Tennessee State. Wright is the second former Wildcat to leave Arizona for Middle Tennessee State, joining fellow Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native and Cardinal Gibbons High School teammate, offensive lineman Jamari Williams. The 6-foot-2-inch, 197-pound Wright finished his lone season at Arizona with 15 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown. - Arizona Star News

  01/10/21 - *Darius HodgerJr/2021, Marshall, 6-1, 248 (DS#15 OLB) + More +

Marshall's football program has lost another key player to the NFL Draft. On Sunday afternoon, junior defensive end Darius Hodge took to social media to announce his intentions to enter the 2021 NFL Draft. Hodge's left a message to those close to him below a post that said, "I'm not coming home till I can build my own!!" The junior from Wake Forest, N.C., came to Marshall as a linebacker, but made the transition to defensive end and became one of Conference USA's top pass-rushers. It was expected that he would be a key returnee for the Herd in 2021, but on Sunday, that tune changed as he became Marshall's fourth player to declare for next year's draft. In 2020, Hodge finished third on Marshall’s team in tackles with 63 while leading the team in tackles for loss (9.0) and sacks (6.5). - Herald-Dispatch
