  2020 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Defensive recognition went to Marshall senior LB Tavante Beckett, who averages 9.6 tackles per game, has 7.5 TFL's, one forced fumble, a nation-leading four fumble recoveries and one touchdown. Beckett is a two-time C-USA Defensive Player of the Week and was named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Thundering Herd's win over then-No. 23 Appalachian State. - Conference USA Football

  Beckett finished the season with 90 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Beckett led the nation with four fumble recoveries, including three in the win against Western Kentucky. He also forced a pair of fumbles. Beckett will not be with the Herd when it takes on Buffalo Friday. Most notably, junior running back Brenden Knox announced that he will skip the bowl game and forgo his senior season to enter the 2021 NFL draft, ending one of the top careers for a running back in Thundering Herd history. Knox, who is projected as a fifth-to-seventh- round prospect, rushed for 887 yards and nine touchdowns this season and ends his Marshall career with 2,852 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns. In three seasons with the Herd, Knox had 550 carries in 35 games, which averages out to just under 16 carries per contest.   Conference USA announced its 2020 All-Conference football teams today, as selected by the league's head football coaches. Nine schools placed at least one player on the first team, with Marshall producing a league-high nine selections, followed by C-USA Champion UAB with six and WKU with four. Marshall and UAB each had the most combined first and second-team members with 12, followed by Louisiana Tech with nine, UTSA with seven and WKU with six.

The nine Marshall first team selections include five from the Thundering Herd offense, three on their defense and one from special teams. Freshman QB Grant Wells leads C-USA in passing yards (1,977) and passing touchdowns (18), junior RB Brenden Knox has 887 rushing yards and nine rushing TDs, with both operating behind an offensive line led by seniors Josh Ball and Cain Madden and alongside redshirt senior TE Xavier Gaines. - Conference USA Football

  NOV 16 CONFERENCE USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marshall redshirt senior P Robert LeFevre pulled double-duty for the Thundering Herd on Saturday, downing four of his five punts inside the 20 (13, 13, 6 and 15-yard lines) to go with a touchback and a 57.2-yard average as Marshall's kickoff man during the latter stages of Saturday's 42-14 win over Middle Tennessee. One of the punts was muffed by Middle Tennessee and recovered by Marshall for an eventual touchdown. For the season, the Hilliard, Ohio, native has averaged 41.0 yards per punt on 24 kicks with nine inside the 20. - Conference USA Football
