  Sonny Mannino threw for 317 yards and a touchdown, Carter James rushed for two touchdowns and Marist shut out Davidson in the second half for a 37-10 victory on Saturday. Marist pulled away by scoring 22 points in the third quarter. The Red Foxes took the second-half kickoff and went 13 plays and 75 yards in nearly seven minutes, capped by a 1-yard run by Mannino. James added a 16-yard run on the last play of the quarter to make it 30-10. Lance Martinez, Connor Hulstein and Reed Shumpert each had 90-plus yards receiving with Hulstein adding a 5-yard touchdown for Marist (5-6, 3-4 Pioneer Football League). Ja'Cyion Cox had a 14-yard touchdown run in the fourth to help Marist gain 196 yards on the ground. Coulter Cleland threw for a touchdown and an interception for Davidson (2-9, 1-6), which was coming off a 14-13 victory over then-ranked Presbyterian. Ivan Hoyt had eight catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. Davidson has had three PFL contests decided by four points or less under first-year coach Saj Thakkar. Marist was coming off a 41-13 win over Stetson last Saturday - the most points for the Red Foxes in a game since scoring 45 at Stetson on Oct. 8, 2022.   Sonny Mannino threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more and Marist raced past Stetson 41-13 on Saturday. Jace Williamson had a 45-yard pick-6 to give the Red Foxes (4-6, 2-4 Pioneer Football League) a 10-0 lead after one quarter before Mannino engineered a 28-point second quarter. Mannino had a 78-yard connection with Connor Hulstein, then scored on a 49-yard run and found Lance Martinez for a 36-yard score. Those three scoring drives took six plays. Then Mannino capped a five-play drive with a 3-yard run for a 38-0 lead. Kael Alexander threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Beau Bankston two seconds before halftime and with 48 seconds left in the game Cayden Betts scored on a 2-yard run for the Hatters (3-7, 2-4). Mannino was 8 of 15 for 187 yards. Two quarterbacks combined to go 12 of 27 for 126 yards with three interceptions for Stetson. - AP College Football

  WEEK 6 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS OF THE WEEK: Jeremy DeCaro, Marist (Freshman (RS), Punt Returner, Milltown, New Jersey),...DeCaro averaged 12.4 yards on seven punt returns in Marist's 19-14 PFL victory against San Diego on Saturday. It was the sixth-most punt return yards in an FCS game this season. DeCaro had four returns of 10-plus yards, three of those in the third quarter that gave Marist starting field position between the 40s, and the last of which set up a Marist scoring drive for a 12-7 lead they would not relinquish.   WEEK 6 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nate Furrow, Marist (Sophomore (RS), Linebacker, Bel Air, Maryland),...Furrow became the second FCS defender to record five tackles for a loss in a game this season and the first with all five tackles unassisted to help Marist post a 19-14 PFL victory against San Diego. It was the first five-TFL day by a PFL defender since 2023 (Drake's Finn Claypool). Furrow had three sacks on the day and finished with eight total tackles. He saved his best for last with Marist leading 19-14 and San Diego driving, Furrow recorded back-to-back sacks on 3rd-and-13 on the Marist 39 and 4th-and-19 on the 46-yard line to secure the Red Foxes' victory.   Tristan Shannon returned a kick for a 99-yard touchdown and defensive backs Lamont Narcisse and Nate Robinson Jr. each had two interceptions to lead Marist to a 21-10 win over Wagner on Saturday afternoon. After a 41-yard field goal at the 5:25 mark in the second quarter from Wagner kicker Nicholas Romero, Shannon took the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. Neither team tallied points again until Marist scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Marist starting quarterback Sonny Manino was injured on a run with 12:07 left in the fourth quarter. He was sacked four times.

His backup, Will O'Dell, threw a decisive touchdown pass to Carter James on a 4th-and-goal at the 1-yard line with 4:40 remaining. Robinson actually had three interceptions of Wagner quarterback Jack Stevens - two in the first quarter and one in the second - but his second was negated by a defensive holding penalty. Stevens threw a fourth interception to Chase Hatton. He was sacked five times. Lamont got his first interception early in the second quarter, then picked off wide receiver Derek Burrell, on Burrell's lone pass attempt of the day. Marist moves to 2-1 before opening its Pioneer League schedule on September 27 against Butler. The Red Foxes have had 10 consecutive losing seasons. Wagner moves to 0-3. - AP College Football

  Sonny Mannino had a passing touchdown and a rushing score, Tristan Shannon ran for 104 yards and Marist beat New Haven 31-14 on Friday night in both teams' season openers. It was Marist's first season-opening win since 2012, and second-year head coach Mike Willis's first home win. It was New Haven's first game at the Division I level after moving up on July 1. Shannon rushed for a 59-yard touchdown on a 4th-and-1 play in the first quarter for a 10-0 lead. Connor Hulstein had a 17-yard touchdown grab, and Mannino's 4-yard run made it 27-3 for the Red Foxes.

The Red Foxes' special teams capitalized on New Haven's fumble on a punt return in the closing seconds, when Rene Barber scooped up the ball and ran it back with under a minute left in the game. Mannino was 11 of 20 for 75 yards passing He carried it 21 times for 109 yards. Chargers quarterback AJ Duffy threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Joshua Tracey made nine grabs for 145 yards. Evan Chieca and Logan Schmidt had a touchdown grab. - AP College Football

In the outing, he made all three of his field goal attempts and all three of his PATs that secured head coach Jim Parady's 150th career victory. Paladino made field goals from 36, 48, and 22 yards, and his 48-yarder was the longest of his career and second-longest in the PFL this season.   Amin Woods ran for two touchdowns and Luke Paladino kicked three field goals to carry Marist to a 37-7 Pioneer League win over Presbyterian on Saturday afternoon, earning Marist coach Jim Parady his 150th career victory. Parady is in his 31st year as head coach of the Red Foxes and is the longest-tenured coach in Division I football. Four Red Foxes gained 30 yards or more on the ground and the team gained 157 yards on 43 carries and scored four rushing touchdowns, with Glenmour Leonard-Osbourne carrying 12 times for 49 yards to lead the effort. Brock Bagozzi completed 15 of 24 passes for 174 yards while the Marist (3-5, 3-3) defense held the Blue Hose to just 162 yards of offense. Presbyterian (1-8, 0-6) avoided its second shutout loss when Nate Hayden hit Jalen Jones from a yard out with 2:16 remaining.   SEPT 26 PIONEER FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brock Bagozzi, Marist, (So., QB, Solvay, New York),...Bagozzi had a touchdown as a runner, passer, and receiver in Marist's 30-25 PFL victory at Drake, Saturday. As a passer, he completed 25-of-38 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown. Using his legs, Bagozzi added 12 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Capping his day, he caught a four-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Scott Scherzer. His three touchdowns accounted for Marist's first three scores of the game. His nine-yard touchdown pass to Glenmour Leonard-Osbourne opened the Red Foxes' scoring. Bagozzi's touchdown reception put Marist ahead for good at 14-10 in the second quarter, and his touchdown run came with 45 seconds left in the first half and gave Marist a 24-10 lead at the break.   Amin Woods scored on a 6-yard run with 43 seconds to play to lift Marist to a wild 30-25 win over Drake on Saturday in a Pioneer Football League opener between winless teams. Woods capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive that included a fourth-down conversion when quarterback Brock Bagozzi went 10 yards on a keeper at midfield. Bagnozzi threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to put the Red Foxes (1-2) up 21-10 at halftime. A field goal made it 24-13 before the Bulldogs (0-4) rallied with 15 unanswered points. Luke Williams kicked a pair of short field goals before Dorian Boyland scored on a 2-yard run to make it 27-25. Amir Proctor protected the lead by intercepting the 2-point conversion attempt. However, Drake recovered an onside kick and cashed in with a 36-yard Williams field goal with 3:36 left. He was a First Team All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) and All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) selection as he tallied 76 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, four interceptions, and three sacks. Wright has made the PFL Academic Honor Roll each of the last two seasons and is currently pursuing his Master's degree. He has spoken out against sexual assault and helped promote the program's annual Set The Expectation game.
