  11/13/21 - Austin DayrSr/2022, Marist, 6-2, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Austin Day threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns and Marist forced six turnovers to pull away from Presbyterian 57-32 on Saturday. The scoring outburst was the most points in a game for the Red Foxes (5-4, 5-2 Pioneer Football League) dating to the 1998 season. The teams combined for more than 1,000 yards of offense with Presbyterian posting 536 yards to Marists' 484. Ren Hefley completed 36 of 56 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns for the Blue Hose (2-8, 0-7), but was picked off four times. Hefley gave Presbyterian an 8-0 lead on the game's opening possession with a 7-yard pass to Kiaran Turner. Marist scored three unanswered touchdowns to take a 33-14 lead into halftime with Mekhai Johnson running in from the 22, and Day passing to Sydney Person from 22 and then to Brett Landis from 33 yards out. The Red Foxes never trailed in the second half with Presbyterian only getting within 20 points early in the final period on Delvecchio Powell's 12-yard rush. Powell carried 14 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns for Presbyterian. Jalyn Witcher caught five passes for 136 yards - his sixth 100-yard game this season. - AP College Football

  11/06/21 - Austin DayrSr/2022, Marist, 6-2, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Austin Day found Hunter Cobb with a 10-yard pass in the final 10 seconds of the third quarter as Marist broke a scoreless tie against Drake, 7-0, on Saturday. Teddy Wright's third-down sack of Drake's Ian Corwin helped Marist (4-4, 4-2 Pioneer Football League) preserve the shutout, a first at Tenney Field since 2013 against Stetson (27-0). One play after the sack, a Drake 49-yard field goal attempt went awry when the kick caromed off the helmet of a Drake lineman and sling-shotted all the way back to the Bulldogs 30-yard line, where it was recovered by Marist's Mike Arrington.

A Drake (2-6, 1-4) goal-line stand got the ball back with no timeouts at 2:29 of the fourth, but the Red Foxes made a stand of their own and forced a turnover on downs in four plays to end the game in victory formation. Day completed 21 of 28 passes for 186 yards, spreading the ball around to nine receivers. Corwin went 13-for-27 passing for 144 yards with an interception. The Bulldogs, who had not played in two weeks after a bye and a COVID-caused cancellation, gained 144 yards rushing. The game saw 14 punts, eight by Drake, and each team missed two field goals. - AP College Football

  10/16/21 - Austin DayrSr/2022, Marist, 6-2, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Mekhai Johnson scored two touchdowns in the second quarter - one on a 91-yard kickoff return - and Marist held off Dayton 20-17 on Saturday. Dayton, after cutting the gap to three points, launched a drive from its own 10 and got across midfield as time was running out. But after reaching a third-and-2 at the Marist 43, the Red Foxes defense denied Dayton a first down, stuffing Jake Chisholm for no gain and then forcing Jack Cook to throw incomplete into tight coverage on fourth down. Austin Day was 13 of 26 passing for Marist (3-2, 3-0 Pioneer Football League), which has won its last three games. Luke Palladino kicked field goals of 44 and 29 yards. Cook went 21 of 29 for 217 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The touchdown pass, a 13-yarder to Sam Bubonics, was his 60th, placing him as Dayton's all-time leader in TD passes thrown. Bubonics made nine catches for 107 yards. Teddy Wright led the Red Foxes defense with 10 tackles, five solo, and an interception. - AP College Football
