  The Football Writers Association of America released its 2019 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List today, selecting 92 defensive standouts from 65 schools in all 10 Division I FBS conferences plus independents on a roster that includes four returning players from last season's FWAA All-America team. Grant Delpit, a junior safety from LSU, tops the list as the lone returning Bronko Nagurski Trophy finalist and FWAA first-team All-American from last season.

Joining him on the list are three other returning 2018 FWAA second-team All-Americans in Virginia cornerback Bryce Hall, Michigan State defensive end Kenny Willekes, and Stanford cornerback Paulson Adebo. Alabama leads the team count with four representatives – linebackers Anfernee Jennings and Dylan Moses, end Raekwon Davis and cornerback Trevon Diggs. In addition to Delpit, LSU boasts linebacker Jacob Phillips and cornerback Kristian Fulton on the list to tie Iowa State, Notre Dame and Penn State with three members each.   2019 PRESEASON SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): OL Tre'mond Shorts, R-So., ETSU,...Ben Blackmon and Tre'mond Shorts earned spots on the preseason Second Team Offense at the offensive line position. The duo played in all 12 games, with Blackmon starting each contest and Shorts earning the nod in 10 contests. The duo aided the Bucs in totaling nine 100-yard rushing games and four 200-yard contests on the ground.   The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame has released the 2019 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List. The Paycom Jim Thorpe Award annually recognizes the best defensive back in college football. The award is based on performance on the field, athletic ability and character. As such, it is considered one of the most coveted awards in college football.

This list includes 46 of the nation's best defensive backs, representing 10 conferences and 1 Independent. The preseason watch list is selected by a screening committee who compiles a list of 30-50 players. This list is not final and players who have outstanding seasons are added as the season progresses. The award recipient is selected by the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award National Selection Committee, which boasts members of the NCFAA, an Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in-house award committee, former Paycom Jim Thorpe Award recipients, and sportswriters and college football journalists throughout the country. - Paycom Jim Thorpe Award

Michael Divinity, LSU,...Last year, LSU's Devin White became the first Butkus Award winner in school history. White, a consensus All-America, went on to become the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Divinity recorded 54 tackles, led the Tigers in sacks with 5.0 and was second on the squad with 10.5 tackles for loss a year ago. Divinity also had an interception and returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown against Texas A&M. - LSU Football

  2019 PRESEASON RIMINGTON TROPHY CANDIDATE: Lloyd Cushenberry III, LSU,...Cushenberry, a junior from Dutchtown High School in Geismar, started every game at center last year, helping the Tigers to a 10-3 record and a No. 6 final ranking. Cushenberry was one of just two offensive linemen - the other was guard Damien Lewis - to start every game for the Tigers in 2018. Cushenberry, in his first year as LSU's starting center, finished second on the team among offensive linemen in total snaps with 973.

He played every offensive snap in 11 of LSU's 13 games, including all 96 plays in the seven-overtime contest against Texas A&M and 86 snaps in the Tigers' win over UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. He also helped pave the way for 1,000-yard rusher Nick Brossette. Former Tiger All-America Ben Wilkerson was the recipient of the Rimington Trophy in 2004 after being a finalist for the award in 2003. - LSU Football

Fulton, considered one of the top cornerbacks in all of college football going into 2019, started 10 games last year and finished with 25 tackles, one interception and 10 passes defended. Of Fulton, Orgeron said, "he's one of the top cornerbacks in the SEC, if not America." Fulton missed the final three games of the 2018 season with an injury but is healthy and will be 100 percent once camp starts in early August. - LSU Football
