  11/30/25 - Harlem BerryFr/2029, LSU, 5-11, 190 (DS#2 RB) + More +

Lane Kiffin announced Sunday he is leaving his one-loss Ole Miss team to become the coach at LSU, taking over a Tigers program that has won national titles under three of its previous four coaches. The move, disclosed by Kiffin on social media, comes two days after No. 6 Mississippi's 39-19 victory over Mississippi State in the rivals' annual Egg Bowl game that all but guaranteed the Rebels a playoff berth. "I was hoping to complete a historic six season run with this year's team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs, capitalizing on the team's incredible success and their commitment to finish strong," Kiffin wrote, adding that he would maintained "guardrails in place to protect the program in any areas of concern." Kiffins said Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter denied his request "despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance." "Unfortunately, that means Friday's Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels," he added.

After an Ole Miss team meeting Sunday afternoon, players including defensive back TJ Banks told reporters waiting outside that defensive coordinator Pete Golding was now the head coach. Mississippi athletics officials did not immediately confirm the move, but said an announcement was planned later Sunday. Two prominent Ole Miss alumni with close ties to the athletic department, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made, said they'd been informed of Golding's promotion. The timing has been awkward for Ole Miss, Kiffin and college football in general. Kiffin made his announcement exactly one week before the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket is announced; the Rebels are all but certain to be included after a 11-1 regular season. Kiffin, considered one of the top offensive coaches in college football, and Carter had agreed a week earlier that a decision had to be made by this weekend. Carter could not afford to wait until after critical recruiting periods in December and transfer periods in January had passed before starting his coaching search. - AP College Football

  10/31/25 - Sam LeavittrSo/2028, LSU, 6-2, 205 (DS#5 QB) + More +

Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt will miss the rest of the year because of a lingering right foot injury. Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham told Arizona Sports on Friday that Leavitt will have season-ending surgery. "He's been battling and fighting. He's the ultimate competitor," Dillingham said. "This is like the worst, obviously, news that he wanted to hear because it means he can't play football. He loves the game of football. He loves this place. So, it's definitely unfortunate for him." Leavitt was initially injured against Baylor on Sept. 20 and didn't play in a loss to No. 24 Utah two weeks later. He returned to lead Arizona State's comeback victory against No. 7 Texas Tech on Oct. 18 before getting hurt again. Leavitt twice left last week's 24-16 loss to No. 22 Houston, first after taking a hard hit in the first quarter and again when he limped off the field in the fourth quarter. Leavitt was wearing a walking boot at practice Tuesday. "I just feel bad for him that he has been dinged up all year and he's been battling for our football team," Dillingham said. "It's unfortunate that it just hasn't gotten any better." Leavitt was the perfect fit for Dillingham's second season in the desert after transferring from Michigan State.

The 6-foot-2 quarterback from West Linn, Oregon, threw for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions last season while leading the Sun Devils to the Big 12 title and their first trip to the College Football Playoff. With Leavitt and standout receiver Jordyn Tyson returning, Arizona State opened at No. 11 in the AP Top 25 and has bounced in and out of the poll all season. The Sun Devils (5-3, 3-2 Big 12) were still in the mix to repeat as Big 12 champions, but their bid took a big hit with the loss to Houston. Leavitt has thrown for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions this season. Tyson did not play against Houston with a hamstring injury, but could return against Iowa State (5-3, 2-3) in Saturday's rematch of last year's Big 12 title game. - AP College Football

Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt will not play against Iowa State after twice leaving last week's loss to No. 22 Houston. Leavitt went out after taking a hard hit in the first quarter of the Sun Devils' 24-16 loss to the Cougars last Saturday. He returned to the game but went off limping in the fourth quarter. Leavitt was in a walking boot at Arizona State's practice Tuesday. "It's definitely something that's been lingering all year," Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham said. "It's definitely something that could definitely turn into that (long-term) for sure, just because it hasn't progressed like we hoped. He's been dealing with this for pretty much the whole year. He hasn't been at full speed, so we'll definitely reassess it during the bye and make a decision from there." Leavitt first injured his foot against Baylor on Sept. 20 and didn't play in a loss to No. 24 Utah two weeks later. He returned to lead Arizona State's comeback win over No. 13 Texas Tech on Oct. 18 before going down again. Leavitt has thrown for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions this season after leading the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff for the first time last year. - AP College Football

  10/27/25 - Harold Perkins Jr.rJr/2026, LSU, 6-1, 222 (DS#8 OLB) + More +

LSU fired coach Brian Kelly during the fourth season of a 10-year contract worth about $100 million, athletic director Scott Woodward announced Sunday night. The move comes on the heels of Saturday night's 49-25 loss to No. 3 Texas A&M in Tiger Stadium - a second straight loss, and third in four games for LSU (5-3, 2-3 Southeastern Conference). "When Coach Kelly arrived at LSU four years ago, we had high hopes that he would lead us to multiple SEC and national championships during his time in Baton Rouge," Woodward said. "Ultimately, the success at the level that LSU demands simply did not materialize." Associate head coach Frank Wilson, who also serves as a running backs coach, has been tapped as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season.

He has gone 34-14 with the Tigers, even taking LSU to the 2022 SEC title game. But LSU did not qualify for the College Football Playoff in his first three seasons, and was virtually eliminated from contention with its loss to the Aggies. The playoff was expanded from four to 12 teams for the 2024 season. "I will not compromise in our pursuit of excellence and we will not lower our standards," said Woodward, an LSU graduate who was hired to his current post in 2019, the same year the Tigers won their last national title under Orgeron. Orgeron left after not posting a winning record during his final two seasons. While Kelly did not coach LSU to a playoff berth, he oversaw quarterback Jayden Daniels' development into a Heisman Trophy winner in 2023. "I am confident in our ability to bring to Baton Rouge an outstanding leader, teacher and coach, who fits our culture and community and who embraces the excellence that we demand," Woodward said. LSU could have to pay Kelly more than $52 million to not coach through 2031, but the precise figure was unclear on Sunday night. - AP College Football

Raleek Brown bulled in for a 1-yard touchdown with 34 seconds left and Arizona State rallied after blowing a 12-point, fourth-quarter lead to hand No. 7 Texas Tech its first loss of the season, 26-22 on Saturday. The Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) labored most of the afternoon without starting quarterback Behren Morton (knee), finishing with 276 total yards after averaging an FBS-best 558.8 through the first six games. Will Hammond showed his mettle after failing to move Texas Tech's offense through three quarters, orchestrating two late scoring drives. The freshman scored on a 1-yard run and, after Texas Tech's defense held, found Reggie Virgil on a 12-yard touchdown pass. Hammond put the Red Raiders up 22-19 by running it in for the 2-point conversion - after a holding call on Arizona State on the first attempt - but left too much time on the clock. The reigning Big 12 champion Sun Devils (5-2, 3-1) started the final drive from their 25 with two minutes left and quickly moved down the field.

Sam Leavitt completed 5 of 7 passes for 61 yards on the drive and benefited from a pass interference call on Texas Tech's Brice Pollack to set up Brown's TD run. The Red Raiders reached Arizona State's 28 on its final drive, but Hammond's desperation heave into the end zone was swatted down. Texas Tech followed No. 2 Miami, No. 5 Mississippi and No. 10 LSU to become the fourth top-10 team to lose this weekend. Texas Tech was without defensive tackle Skyler Gill-Howard, who had season-ending ankle surgery this week, and the Sun Devils took advantage by racking up 394 total yards against one of the nation's best defenses. Arizona State had a hard time finishing drives, settling for four field goals by Jesus Gomez, but came through at just the right time. Leavitt threw for 319 yards and hit Jordyn Tyson on a 2-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter after missing last week's game against Utah with a foot injury. - Arizona State/AP College Football
