Jake Fromm addressed the Buffalo Bills team after text messages, which involved the phrase "elite white people," came to light Thursday afternoon. "He knows he has a lot of work to do to earn the trust of his teammates," Bills' offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said to local media Friday morning. "I'm a big believer that actions speak louder than words. I know he'll be committed to that. We have a strong leadership group and a strong culture in our room."

The texts were released as protests across the U.S. following the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery have dominated national news coverage. Fromm's apology did not impress some NFL players. Former LSU and current Jaguars linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson wrote on Twitter "I won't accept apologies. You did/said what you felt what was right in disregards of our emotions and existence. I understand but I will never accept it." - Macon Telegraph

Call this a day for defense. The Jaguars not only went that side of the ball with their first selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, they stayed there with their second Round 1 selection. K'Lavon Chaisson, a defensive end/linebacker from Louisiana State University, late Thursday night became the Jaguars' second Round 1 selection of the '20 draft. The Jaguars selected him with the No. 20 overall selection, making the call around 10:35 Thursday.

The Jaguars selected Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson earlier in Round 1 with the No. 9 overall selection. Chaisson (6-feet-3, 254 pounds), who forewent his senior year to enter the draft, served as team captain in 2019 and earned All-Southeastern Conference first-team honors. He was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. He played in 26 games with 17 starts in college. He totaled 92 tackles, including 19.0 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. - Jaguars.com

Though his promising sophomore season ended before it really started, Chaisson considered himself lucky. He thought about Ryan Shazier, the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker who injured his spine. Shazier has not played football in almost two years. He had to re-learn how to walk. Chaisson did not participate in contact portions of spring practice - he thought he could have - but he showed progress. He exploded through drills, and he received praise from coach Ed Orgeron, who believes Chaisson can have 12 to 15 sacks this fall.

"Him rushing off the edge," safety Grant Delpit said, "we know we've got guaranteed pressure on that side." "You're not going to be able to block K'Lavon one-on-one," quarterback Joe Burrow said. Last Thursday, the night before LSU began preseason practice, Chaisson received LSU's coveted No. 18 jersey along with center Lloyd Cushenberry. - Baton Rouge Advocate
