There are at least two seniors on the Kansas football roster Les Miles would like to see take advantage of the NCAA's blanket waiver for an extra year of eligibility. KU's head coach, while discussing some of this year's seniors on his "Hawk Talk" radio show on Wednesday evening, identified receivers Stephon Robinson Jr. and Andrew Parchment as players the staff would want to invite back for the 2021 season. "We want him back," Miles said of Robinson, the first of the receiving duo to come up. "There isn't any question. We'd love to have him back." When the conversation turned to Parchment, Miles added, "We'd like to have him back, too."

The Jayhawks' top two receivers in 2019, neither has enjoyed the same level of success this year. Robinson, who averaged 16.2 yards per catch and scored eight touchdowns as a junior, when Carter Stanley was KU's QB, has only been able to play in parts of three games this year, while dealing with injuries. Robinson made one reception at Baylor in the Big 12 opener and another at West Virginia. He hasn't played since that WVU loss on Oct. 17, and Miles said recently the usually speedy 5-foot-10 wideout had surgery to address a lower right leg injury. Parchment, a 6-2 target who caught 65 passes in 2019, has played every game so far for KU this year, but has just 23 receptions for 192 yards with two touchdowns, as KU's offensive line and passing game have struggled throughout an 0-7 start. - Lawrence Journal World

His first surgery started less than three hours after the injury, one of the many factors that opened the door to his recovery. Milton endured multiple surgeries and one doctor told him 50% of people with the same injury need to have the leg amputated because the artery is too damaged or severed and it's too late to restore blood flow. Milton used a wheelchair or crutches for the first five months following surgery and it wasn't until earlier this year that doctors allowed him to ditch a restrictive brace for a less bulky one that allowed him to increase his physical activities. He received clearance from his doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to return to practice in August and recently began working out with the team in full pads. He also took over as quarterback for the scout team.

"He's a pretty good one," coach Josh Heupel said when asked how good of a scout-team quarterback Milton has been for the Knights. "It's great to see him out there and playing with bodies around him and doing some of the things he's accustomed to doing before the injury." ESPN's College GameDay Saturday featured Milton, sharing his grueling recovery process. "I believe I'll play football again," Milton told ESPN Tom Rinaldi, reiterating the faith he has shared throughout his recovery process. - Orlando Sentinel

  11/21/20 - Jashaun CorbinrJr/2022, Florida State, 5-11, 203 (DS#29 RB) + More +

Throughout this season, the Florida State Seminoles have used a trio of running backs. But with La'Damian Webb and Lawrance Toafili either limited or unavailable during last weekend's game against North Carolina State, it was all on Jashaun Corbin to produce out of the backfield. Corbin did not disappoint as he registered his best performance of the season. Despite the 38-22 loss to the Wolfpack, Corbin set a season high with 77 yards on 14 carries, including a 28-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-1. FSU also used Corbin in wildcat packages throughout the game, which had a ton of success. He helped pick up three of the Seminoles' five fourth-down conversions. "He's the type of guy you want on your football team," FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham said about Corbin.

"Great kid, smart kid, passionate, brings it every single day. The type of game he had, he made the safety miss on a critical fourth down, went, and scored a touchdown. And he was a vital part of what we did. "Because of all the wildcat, we lined up, we needed a vet to step up with two freshmen in there, that we had to develop a plan to where if one of those guys at quarterback did get rattled, we needed to be able to put somebody back there who could calm us down and not make them have to make every play. His maturity and his intelligence allowed us to line up in wildcat and really take a lot of pressure off those young quarterbacks. Corbin, a native of Rockledge, Florida, transferred to FSU after spending two years at Texas A&M. - Times Union

  11/11/20 - Marvin WilsonSr/2021, Florida State, 6-4, 303 (DS#11 DT) + More +

Florida State's struggles continue to mount as the Seminoles lost several players Wednesday for the rest of the season, with some sidelined by injuries and others saying it is time to move on. Preseason All-American defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and starting offensive lineman Devontay Love-Taylor will not play the rest of the year due to injuries. Coach Mike Norvell also announced that leading wide receiver Tamorrion Terry has left the team and James Blackman, now a backup quarterback, intends to transfer.

Florida State (2-5, 1-5 ACC) is struggling in Norvell's first season, suffering double-digit losses against Miami, North Carolina, Louisville and Pittsburgh. The Seminoles play at NC State (4-3, 4-3 ACC) on Saturday. Wilson was a consensus preseason All-American but did not deliver much in the way of an impactful performance beyond his three blocked kicks on special teams. The senior had 17 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in six games. "I appreciate Marvin and the leader that he's worked to be," Norvell said. "He's going to still be around each and every day. He's still encouraging guys at practice. I thought his energy on the sideline on Saturday was very impressive." - AP College Football

Florida State coach Mike Norvell said receiver Tamorrion Terry and safety Hamsah Nasirildeen, both of whom have missed time due to injuries this season, participated in practice Wednesday. The first-year coach, however, wasn't willing to share how optimistic he was that both players would play this weekend. "We're right there somewhere between one and five in my optimism, and I'm really excited where that number is in my mind right now," Norvell said. "I'm not going to put that number out there for you." Terry has been out for a few weeks after having knee surgery. He leads the team in catches (21), receiving yards (275) and receiving yards per game (68.8) despite appearing in just four games.

Nasirildeen hasn't played this season after undergoing surgery in the offseason for a knee injury. The senior was named to the preseason All-ACC team after recording a team-high 101 tackles in 2019. "Injuries take all different forms and I wish it was more cookie-cutter for him because there's not one person more frustrated in that building than him with his lack of being able to help the team on the football field," FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller said. "He's doing everything he can right now to physically get ready. "Mentally, he's been there since the day I walked in the door. He still asks key questions in the meetings and he's the one promoting the questions with some of the younger players that are on the field right now...Right now it's day-by-day trying to push himself each day and seeing how that reacts and seeing what the next day has for himself." - Orlando Sentinel

  11/06/20 - DJ UiagaleleirSr/2025, Florida State, 6-4, 229 (DS#32 QB) + More +

The jewelry and Bible verses around Uiagalelei's neck and wrists say as much as the stats do about this delightfully different 19-year-old. Uiagalelei offered a tour on Monday. The large "Big Cinco" medallion fits with the No. 5 jersey and goes back to his high school days at St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif., 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. "Someone just called me Big Cinco," Uiagalelei said. "I just heard the name. I said, "Oh, I like that. That's pretty cool. That's like a different thing." So Big Cinco started using #BigCinco in social media posts. The Big Cinco necklace got some play during ABC's telecast of the Boston College-Clemson game, in which Uiagalelei threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns. "I like wearing chains," he said. There's another No. 5 chain. The "T" chain honors his mother, Tausha. But this kid is more than a little glitz. - Charleston Post Courier

  11/06/20 - Jordan TravisrSr/2024, Florida State, 6-1, 203 (DS#10 QB) + More +

A week off was just what Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis needed. As the Seminoles prepare to host Pittsburgh Saturday, few players needed the time off than Travis, who left the field following the team's disappointing 48-16 loss to Louisville two weeks ago battered and bruised. Through the first six games of the season, including three consecutive starts, the redshirt sophomore has endured a litany of injuries to everything from his legs to his throwing hand and shoulder. The West Palm Beach native appeared limited during the loss to the Cardinals and was replaced by true freshman Chubba Purdy late in the fourth quarter.

"I think it was big-time help for him," FSU coach Mike Norvell said of the bye's impact on Travis. "He's played extremely hard these last three games, four games. He's done a nice job, but he's had some bumps and bruises along the way. "He's done a good job during the week making sure he's getting treatment and taking care of his body in a normal workweek but having the bye week allowed him to be able to step back and have a few couple days to heal up." Travis said the off week came at a good time. "It helped me heal, for sure," Travis said. "My body feels good and mentally, it did a lot for me so I could focus on the week in practice [and]...all the little things about the offense." - Sun-Sentinel

  11/04/20 - DJ UiagaleleirSr/2025, Florida State, 6-4, 229 (DS#32 QB) + More +

The freshman only learned he'd be starting Thursday afternoon, but he looked poised and confident Saturday. He finished 30-of-41 passing for 342 yards and two touchdowns, and he opened the second half with a 30-yard touchdown run. The way he handled Clemson's first drive was particularly impressive. After the Eagles stormed down the field in four plays to score, Uiagalelei orchestrated a six-play, 65-yard drive capped by a smart throw to running back Travis Etienne against the blitz. Etienne sprinted into the end zone for 35 yards. "He's incredibly poised," Swinney said. That's good news for the Tigers, who will need Uiagalelei to perform well next week in the big showdown with No. 4 Notre Dame. - Charleston Post Courier

  10/31/20 - DJ UiagaleleirSr/2025, Florida State, 6-4, 229 (DS#32 QB) + More +

Freshman DJ Uiagalelei threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Trevor Lawrence, home with COVID-19, and No. 1 Clemson rallied from 18-points down in the first half to defeat Boston College 34-28 on Saturday. Travis Etienne became the ACC's all-time rushing leader and his second TD put the Tigers (7-0, 6-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) ahead for good. A jarring week for Clemson ended with its 28th straight win over league competition, 10th straight over the Eagles and 27th in a row at home. Clemson was missing several key players. Lawrence was out after testing positive for the virus and starting linebackers James Skalski and Mike Jones Jr. were missing because of injuries. The Eagles (4-3, 3-3) took advantage, putting Clemson in a 28-10 hole in the second quarter with the virus-reduced crowd stunned to near silence. That's when Uiagalelei showed why he was a five-star prospect coveted by every college power and the heir apparent once Lawrence leaves for the NFL. Uiagalelei ran for a 30-yard TD on Clemson's opening third-quarter drive to begin the comeback, then threw an 8-yard scoring strike to Amari Rodgers that drew the Tigers within 28-26. Etienne, Clemson's other Heisman contender, put the Tigers in front for good with a 17-yard touchdown run with 11:34 to go. - Clemson/AP College Football

FSU's defense came out with energy, working together to limit North Carolina's typically prolific attack. Linebacker Stephen Dix Jr. finished with a team-high nine tackles while defensive tackle Marvin Wilson forced Howell to get rid of the ball quickly to avoid pressure. Defensive end Joshua Kaindoh also pressured Howell and returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown that pushed FSU ahead 24-0 and added to the Tar Heels' early frustration. "They're the reason why we won the game, to be honest," Travis said of the defense. "...Their energy that they brought made everyone else just go. They had so much energy and we were comfortable." - Orlando Sentinel

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney revealed following Saturday's 73-7 victory over Georgia Tech that both of Clemson's backup quarterbacks are dealing with injuries. D.J. Uiagalelei, Clemson's top backup QB, was held out of Saturday's game because he was sore, according to Swinney. Uiagalelei was available, Swinney said, but Clemson didn't want to use him unless it had to. Swinney declined to say what specifically is sore for Uiagalelei. ESPN reported during the game that Uiagalelei is dealing with a sore shoulder. "I'm not gonna get into the specifics of anything other than he was sore," Swinney said postgame. "He got beat up a little bit in the game last week (against Miami). We just wanted to hold him." - The State

Jordan Travis ran for two touchdowns and threw a scoring pass to help Florida State build a big first-half lead, and the Seminoles held off North Carolina. Travis guided an offensive that generated 434 yards for Florida State (2-3, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), but was shut out in the second half. North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell led three second-half touchdown drives to pull to 31-28, but the Tar Heels (3-1, 3-1) had drops on third and fourth down in the final seconds to end the comeback bid. The Seminoles gave coach Mike Norvell a signature victory in his first season in Tallahassee following a shaky start that included a blowout loss at Miami. Travis, a redshirt sophomore, completed 8 of 19 passes for 191 yards and ran 16 times for 107 yards as the Seminoles jumped out to a 31-7 halftime lead, the most dominating performance for the program in recent memory. - Florida State/AP College Football

UNC head coach Mack Brown gave a glowing assessment of Florida State's Tamorrion Terry on Wednesday morning: "the best wide receiver we've seen so far" through four conference games. And that's for good reason. Terry, a 6-foot-4 junior, logged a 1,000-yard, nine-touchdown season for FSU last year. And he's stayed hot in 2020, with a team-high 21 catches for 275 yards and a touchdown. Last week, against then-No. 5 Notre Dame, he went for a season-best nine catches and 146 yards. Now, though, the struggling Seminoles will be without their top offensive threat against the Tar Heels.

On Wednesday afternoon, news broke that Terry will get knee surgery this week to fix a swelling issue. He'll miss at least a few games, including Saturday's against North Carolina. The star wide receiver confirmed the news on his Twitter account Wednesday night, writing: "Send ya prayers." Terry's absence puts Florida State in a bind. Tight end Camren McDonald (12 catches for 127 yards) and wide receiver Ontaria Wilson (13 for 124) will see natural bumps in usage, but FSU doesn't have much depth behind those two. No other Seminole receiver has more than five catches or 58 yards this season. - Raleigh News Observer
