Andrew Parchment, Florida State, Player News

Andrew Parchment grew up playing football in South Florida so it only made sense he would develop an affinity for the Miami Hurricanes. But even as a young 'Canes fan, Parchment had a mutual reverence for rival Florida State. "If you watch college football and you don't know about Florida State and their history, you must be living underneath a rock," Parchment explained. "Even though I grew up a Miami fan, I understood what the history of Florida State is and I understand that through the players that came through here." Parchment hopes to make his mark in the program's storied history, joining the Seminoles program as a graduate transfer.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide receiver becomes the latest player to find a new home at FSU. He becomes the 10th player to join the Seminoles program after a brief stint in the transfer portal following brief stints at Northern Illinois, Iowa Central Community College and Kansas. "For me, it was crazy that a school like Florida State would be interested in me and I was excited not only to stay in a Power Five conference but to come back to the state of Florida," said Parchment, a 3-star prospect out of Cypress Bay High School in Fort Lauderdale. - Orlando Sentinel

Florida State reached into the transfer portal to add some much-needed depth and experience to its 2021-22 football roster with the addition of receiver Andrew Parchment and offensive lineman Dillan Gibbons. Parchment, a graduate transfer, comes by way of Kansas where he spent the past two seasons. He appeared in 20 games with 19 starts for the Jayhawks, totaling 1,028 yards and nine touchdowns on 89 catches.

"We're extremely excited about Andrew joining our program," said FSU coach Mike Norvell. "We feel like he brings a great playmaking ability and home-run threat to the receiver position. Being from Florida, it's also a great opportunity for him down here as he finishes his college career in front of family and friends as a Seminole." Parchment was a 3-star prospect out of Cypress Bay (Fort Lauderdale), who originally signed with Northern Illinois in 2017 where he played one season for the Huskies before landing at Iowa Central Community College and then Kansas. - Orlando Sentinel

Former Kansas receiver Andrew Parchment rang in the new year by finding his new college football home. Parchment, three weeks after entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal, announced on his social media accounts on New Year's Eve that he's headed to Florida State. "I'm coming home," the wideout from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., wrote on his posts, "and I'm ready to finish the mission." After emerging as KU's top target with 65 receptions for 831 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games in 2019, his final year with the Jayhawks wrapped up with Parchment posting 24 catches for 197 yards with two touchdowns in eight games. - Lawrence Journal World

As the Kansas football offense looks to rebound from a disappointing 2020 season, it will have to do so without receiver Andrew Parchment. Any hopes the Jayhawks had of bringing Parchment back for an extra senior year officially vanished on Friday, as the 6-foot-2 wideout announced via his social media accounts that he entered the NCAA's transfer portal. Parchment, who joined the Jayhawks as a junior college transfer in the spring of 2019, thanked head coach Les Miles and receivers coach and passing game coordinator Emmett Jones for giving him "the opportunity to play for an amazing university and represent the Kansas Jayhawks." According to Parchment, discussions with his family led him to part ways with KU, enter the portal and play one more year of college football elsewhere in 2021. In his first season with the Jayhawks, Parchment emerged as the offense's breakout star. He caught 65 passes for 831 yards in 2019, and scored seven touchdowns as KU's No. 1 receiver. - KU Sports

There are at least two seniors on the Kansas football roster Les Miles would like to see take advantage of the NCAA's blanket waiver for an extra year of eligibility. KU's head coach, while discussing some of this year's seniors on his "Hawk Talk" radio show on Wednesday evening, identified receivers Stephon Robinson Jr. and Andrew Parchment as players the staff would want to invite back for the 2021 season. "We want him back," Miles said of Robinson, the first of the receiving duo to come up. "There isn't any question. We'd love to have him back." When the conversation turned to Parchment, Miles added, "We'd like to have him back, too."

The Jayhawks' top two receivers in 2019, neither has enjoyed the same level of success this year. Robinson, who averaged 16.2 yards per catch and scored eight touchdowns as a junior, when Carter Stanley was KU's QB, has only been able to play in parts of three games this year, while dealing with injuries. Robinson made one reception at Baylor in the Big 12 opener and another at West Virginia. He hasn't played since that WVU loss on Oct. 17, and Miles said recently the usually speedy 5-foot-10 wideout had surgery to address a lower right leg injury. Parchment, a 6-2 target who caught 65 passes in 2019, has played every game so far for KU this year, but has just 23 receptions for 192 yards with two touchdowns, as KU's offensive line and passing game have struggled throughout an 0-7 start. - Lawrence Journal World

A woebegone Andrew Parchment spent part of his Sunday morning fielding uncomfortable questions, staring ahead at a row of assembled media at a virtual postgame news conference. As it quickly became apparent, however, the only thing the standout Kansas wide receiver wanted to look into was a mirror. "I would grade my performance," Parchment said, "as an F." Perhaps the most telling aspect of the senior's harsh self-evaluation? It was entirely unprompted. Parchment hauled in six receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Jayhawks' 38-23 defeat to Coastal Carolina late Saturday night inside an empty David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. That line is nothing to be ashamed of, to be certain, but after the final whistle, Parchment was only interested in discussing his mistakes.

That was particularly true when, in the second question of the scrum, Parchment was asked to grade the performance of the team's quarterbacks, an inquiry that prompted the preseason All-Big 12 first-teamer's self-critical response. Did the question get lost in digital translation? It begged a more direct follow-up: What did Parchment think of the way KU quarterbacks Thomas MacVittie, Miles Kendrick and Jalon Daniels played in the opener? "I would grade my performance as an F," Parchment reiterated. - Topeka Capital journal

No college football player has to play this year, in the midst of a pandemic. But Kansas receiver Andrew Parchment wanted to anyway. With his eyes set on a future in the NFL following what will be a truncated 10-game season at KU, Parchment wasn't interested in opting out. He hopes to use his final collegiate games to prove his personal goals are more than just talk. "I want to play at the next level, and I see myself as that type of player. For me, I just felt like I haven't done enough, I haven't gained enough respect, whether that's in the conference or in the country," Parchment explained earlier this week, when asked during a video conference with reporters about his decision to play this year.

Those who followed KU in 2019 obviously know Parchment well. The 6-foot-2 wideout delivered a breakthrough campaign in his first year with the program. The former Northern Illinois and Iowa Central Community College player emerged as KU's most productive passing target after joining the Jayhawks as a transfer. Parchment's potential became clear in his junior year debut, as he hauled in eight passes for 121 yards in the first game of the Les Miles era, a 24-17 win over Indiana State. It was Parchment's first of four 100-yard receiving games. He ended up leading KU in receptions (65) and receiving yards (831), and his seven touchdowns ranked second by one to Stephon Robinson Jr.'s eight. Parchment's 75-yard touchdown versus West Virginia was one of many highlight moments for the receiver from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who was only considered a two-star junior college prospect by Rivals in the Class of 2019. - Lawrence Journal World

Parchment came out of nowhere - well, Iowa Central Community College, but close enough - to post the best season by a Jayhawk wide receiver in a decade. The 6-2, 180-pounder out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., put himself on the map with a 65-catch, 831-yard, seven-touchdown debut season for KU, serving as Stanley's most reliable weapon. Parchment exploded onto the scene with three 100-plus-yard receiving efforts in the Jayhawks' first four contests, and his seven-catch, 109-yard output helped KU earn its win over Texas Tech, the team's lone Big 12 victory. Uncertainty at quarterback may hinder Parchment's chances at a repeat performance, but keep an eye on this: With fellow seniors Stephon Robinson and Kwamie Lassiter in the fold, as well as touted true freshmen Lawrence Arnold and Luke Grimm, the Jayhawks may boast their deepest wide receiving corps since the days of Dezmon Briscoe and Kerry Meier. - Topeka Capital Journal
