  10/12 IVY LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Bryce Coleman, Columbia,...Coleman continued his strong start to the season, catching nine passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted a game-high 13 times and delivered in key moments as Columbia rallied. Early in the fourth quarter, Coleman hauled in a 31-yard catch on third down to keep a scoring drive alive as the Lions tried to take control. Then with 2:19 left, he made the touchdown catch that put the game away. Coleman has now caught at least one touchdown pass in each of Columbia's four games this season. - Ivy League football

  10/12 IVY LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jonah Walker, Columbia,...Walker played a central role in a game that turned on a pair of special teams and takeaway moments. On Marist's opening drive, Walker blocked a field goal, setting up an 85-yard touchdown return that gave Columbia a 7-0 lead. Late in the second quarter, Walker came through again. With time running down, he worked his way behind the quarterback and knocked the ball loose before the throwing motion, forcing a fumble. Columbia returned it 44 yards for a touchdown, sending the Lions into halftime up 21-14. Walker also made a key stop after Marist blocked a point-after attempt, preventing the Red Foxes from turning it into a two-point play.   09/28 IVY LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Griffin Johnson, Columbia,...Johnson powered Columbia's offense with 121 rushing yards on 30 carries in Washington, D.C., adding three receptions for 26 yards. Two of his catches came on third down in the second half and helped extend drives as the Lions kept possession and controlled tempo. Columbia finished with a 37:34 edge in time of possession. The performance also placed Johnson in rare company in program history. He became the first Columbia running back to record three straight 100-yard rushing games since 2000 and the first Lion to carry the ball at least 30 times in a game since 2015.   09/21 IVY LEAGUE CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Bryce Coleman, Columbia,...Columbia football first-year wide receiver Bryce Coleman has been named the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week following a standout performance in the Lions' 40-34 overtime victory over Lafayette in Columbia's home opener. He shared the honor with Penn quarterback Miles Teodecki. Coleman delivered a breakout game, finishing with seven receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns. He led the Lions with 10 targets and recorded a game-long 45-yard reception. The Los Angeles native made an immediate impact on Columbia's opening scoring drive, hauling in a key catch and later drawing a pass interference penalty in the end zone that moved the Lions to the doorstep. He capped the possession with a 2-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. In the fourth quarter, Coleman came through again with a 15-yard touchdown catch, pushing Columbia ahead by two scores. - Ivy League Football

  Griffin Johnson ran for a career-high 203 yards, nearly doubling his season total, and Columbia defeated Cornell 29-12 on Saturday, wrapping up the season for both teams. Johnson entered the game having rushed for 215 yards this season. The Lions, in pursuit of their first Ivy League win this season, got first-half touchdown runs of 1-yard each from Michael Walters and AJ Simpkins. Chase Goodwin had a 13-yard TD pass to Braden Dougherty. Columbia led 22-9 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Cornell kicked a field goal to make it 22-12, then Johnson wrapped up the win with a 14-yard touchdown run that followed a Cornell fumble. Goodwin passed for 170 yards. The Lions (2-8, 1-6 Ivy League) had 253 yards rushing. Garrett Bass-Sulpizio threw for 225 yards for the Big Red (4-6, 3-4) and Jordan Triplett scored their only touchdown on a 1-yard run. - AP College Football

  NOV 17 IVY LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Michael Walters, Columbia,...Columbia football first-year running back Michael Walters was tabbed Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday. He becomes the first Lion to earn a conference weekly award this season. The Brookfield, Connecticut, native racked up a career-high 123 yards rushing and added a touchdown on 27 carries. Walters also broke Columbia's rookie rushing record and is up to 476 yards on the season, which ranks sixth in the Ivy League.   Chase Goodwin threw for a touchdown and ran for another, Jack Smiechowski made two interceptions, and Columbia beat Georgetown 19-10 on Saturday for its first victory of the season. The Columbia defense made several big plays in the fourth quarter. Carter McCray broke up a fourth-and-goal pass in the endzone to preserve Columbia's 16-10 lead with 12:38 remaining. Smiechowski made his first career interception near midfield and returned it to the 20-yard line, leading to a short field goal for a two-possession lead. Smiechowski's second interception sealed the victory.

Goodwin was 11 of 24 for 151 yards with an interception for Columbia (1-1), which won its fourth straight home opener. Goodwin carried it nine times for 44 yards. Dez Thomas II was intercepted three times for Georgetown (2-3). Jayden Sumpter had 92 yards on 25 carries with a touchdown. It was the 12th meeting, with Columbia holding an 8-4 advantage. Last season, Georgetown's Nicholas Dunneman caught a 16-yard touchdown pass with 1:10 remaining for a 20-17 victory over Columbia to earn the Lou Little trophy for the first time since 2019. - AP College Football

  Ryan Young ran for two third-quarter touchdowns and Fara'ad McCombs returned a kickoff 48 yards for a score as Columbia rolled past Cornell, 45-22 on Saturday afternoon to win the Empire State Bowl. Columbia held a 14-7 lead at the half and the teams combined to score 32 points in the fourth quarter. Joey Giorgi carried 17 times for 91 yards to lead the Lions (6-4, 3-4 Ivy). Young added another 56 yards on 17 carries. Caden Bell completed 11 of 17 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown.   Columbia won at Harvard for the first time since 1995, blocking back-to-back field goal attempts, tipping another and scoring a go-ahead two-point conversion to beat the Crimson 21-20 on Saturday. Harvard turned the ball over on downs at the Lions' 32 and, after holding Columbia (4-4, 1-5 Ivy League) to a three-and-out, drove 55 yards to the Columbia 25 with 1:17 left. Jonah Lipel's 42-yard field goal attempt was tipped and hit an upright. Earlier, Scott Valentas blocked a 24-yard field goal attempt to end the third quarter, and Seth Parker blocked a 49-yard attempt early in the fourth.

Caden Bell led the Lions on an eight play, 40-yard drive he capped with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Luke Painton. Alex Felkins kicked the extra point, but Harvard (5-3, 3-2) was off-side, Columbia decided to go for the 2-point conversion and Bell found Ryan Young on a screen pass at the goal line for the 21-20 lead.   Joe Green threw for three touchdowns to three different receivers and Columbia never trailed in a 28-7 win over Wagner on Saturday. Bryson Canty, Wills Meyer and Cameron Burt each scored touchdowns for Columbia. Ryan Young ran for 117 yards on 24 carries and reached the end zone for the Lions (3-1). Wagner's Nick Kargman threw for 296 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted twice. His 8-yard scoring pass to Rickey Spruill 47 seconds into the fourth quarter reduced the Seahawks' deficit to 21-7. Green's 29-yard scoring pass to Meyer with 4:36 sealed it. Columbia saw its three-game defense scoring streak - a program record - come to an end. The Lions moved to 4-0 all-time against the Seahawks (0-5).   Bryson Canty had a career day with eight catches for 139 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown on a pass from Joe Green, who threw for a career-high 263 yards, leading Columbia to a 42-6 drubbing of Georgetown on Saturday. Rocco Milia capped the rout with a 93-yard interception return with 5:05 to play, the longest pick-6 in program history. The win gave the Lions (2-0) a 4-3 lead in the Lou Little Cup, which was started in 2015 to recognize the man who coached at both schools. Columbia led 13-0 at the half as Alex Felkins kicked his second field goal as time expired. Green finished 23 of 33 for 353 yards passing with a 3-yard touchdown pass to JJ Jenkins midway through the third quarter to make it 20-0. Joey Giorgi and Malcolm Terry II had touchdown runs. Pierce Holley had a big day for Georgetown (1-3), going 30 of 54 for a career-high 317 yards passing and a touchdown but had three interceptions.   Joe Green threw two first-quarter touchdown passes, Joey Giorgi ran 103 yards and a TD on 16 carries and Columbia beat Marist 38-3 Saturday night. Green was 15-of-21 passing for 144 yards and Giorgi capped a seven-play, 70-yard drive with a 3-yard scoring run to make it 28-0 with 3:55 left in the second quarter. Marist failed to convert on fourth-and-3 from the 31 about 3 minutes later, Giorgi ripped off a 16-yard run across midfield and Green ran up the middle for 7 yards to the 35 before Alex Felkins kicked a career-long - and Tenney Stadium record - 53-yard field goal as time expired. Bryan Bell-Anderson picked off a pass on the first play from scrimmage in the second half and returned it 49 yards for a score to give Columbia a . Luke Paladino made a 30-yard field goal with 1:10 to play that helped Marist (0-2) avoid being shut out for the first time since September of 2015.
